Truth be told, the runes used to create that barrier should never, ever be able to be deployed. The energies running inside far surpassed anything that a Divine Middle Level Formation could handle. The runes were being forced to display many times the prowess they were built for.
That's where Tharos's Innate Ability of Stabilization came in. Those energies should never have stabilized. The entire formation should have blown up the moment it was turned on. Yet, with Tharos's ability, he made that stabilization happen!
That's how a formation of that level could display a protection power that even some high-level legendary Formations couldn't. Of course, Tharos had to be present, controlling the energies of the formation directly. It wasn't like Hick's boundaries, which Hick could simply put in place, and he wouldn't need to be there anymore unless he wanted to keep them reinforced all the time.
