A quasar this close to its source was extremely poisonous to one's body due to the unbelievably high radiation. Let's not even talk about the other problems.
Staying around this area for a short time wouldn't be much of a trouble, but the constant exposure to it was another story. Then again, it wasn't like the experts couldn't defend against it. They could simply make a Divine Energy barrier around their bodies, and that would shield them against the radiation.
