I let my body go limp, collapsing as if overcome by whatever mysterious substance she had sprayed on me. Ruby, quick to react, caught me before I hit the ground, cradling me in her arms.
"It's okay, Ethan. I'll protect you," she whispered soothingly, her hand gently stroking my head.
'Right… Protect me from what?' I thought.
Ruby carried me over to a nearby car and unceremoniously deposited my limp body in the backseat. My arms and legs were swiftly bound with strong, tight knots that left me with minimal mobility. To ensure my silence, she covered my mouth with a strip of duct tape, effectively muffling any protests or questions.
With surprising swiftness, she hopped into the driver's seat and started the car. My view was severely restricted. Posters covered the car's windows from the inside, making it impossible for me to discern our location or destination.
Amidst the confusion and concern, I knew I had to reach out to Celia.

'Why? Did something happen?' came Celia's curious response.

'Don't worry, I can handle her,' I assured her, attempting to inject a semblance of reassurance into my words despite the dire circumstances.
'But what if she takes you to the senators?' Celia's voice carried a distinct note of worry in our telepathic conversation.
'That would be even better. I can handle them quickly,' I responded with a surprising degree of nonchalance. Deep down, I knew it was unlikely that Ruby had abducted me just to hand me over to the senators.
'Are you kidding me?!' Celia's mental tone was a mixture of disbelief and concern.
'I am not kidding. For sure, I will contact Red and the others if things get worse, okay?' I reassured her. 'Also, don't call the police; they will make it worse,' I emphasized before severing our telepathic connection. The last thing I wanted was the police to get involved in this mess.

The car ride continued, and Ruby kept a close eye on me. It was an uncomfortable half-hour or so, with her occasionally glancing in my direction to ensure I remained unconscious. The anticipation gnawed at me, wondering where she was taking me and what her endgame might be.
Finally, the car began to slow down, and the surroundings grew darker. It was evident that we had arrived at our destination.
I decided to keep my eyes closed, feigning unconsciousness as Ruby carried me out of the car. Her demon hunter strength made it effortless for her to handle my comparatively thin human body.
We moved through the house, passing by the garage, then the dining room, until we reached our destination - a dimly lit basement. This scenario felt strangely similar to the playful role-plays I'd engaged in with Celia, only this time, this was a real one.
The basement, despite being hidden underground, didn't resemble the typical dark and dreary image of one. The dim lighting, though subdued, managed to illuminate the space surprisingly well. It wasn't a place of despair; rather, it was eerily domestic.
Everything one might need for daily living was here. A neatly made bed with clean sheets rested against one corner, almost inviting despite the circumstances. Nearby, a small dining area with a quaint table and chairs awaited its occupant. A functional kitchenette hinted at Ruby's preparedness to keep me confined for an extended period.
Facing the bed was a flat-screen television, mounted on the wall, offering a source of entertainment. Some shelves, laden with books of various genres, lined one side of the room. It was as if she had tried to recreate a semblance of normality.
To the right, I could see the bathroom area, or rather, the space designated for it. There were no walls to separate it from the rest of the room, implying a distinct lack of privacy. It was an unsettling thought that she could watch me take a shower or attend to other personal matters, emphasizing the fact that I was indeed at her mercy in this strange underground sanctuary.
With surprising swiftness, Ruby moved me to a sturdy chair that was strategically placed in the center of the room. Her adept hands efficiently secured my wrists and ankles, fastening them to the chair's arms and legs. In a mere ten minutes, she had me completely immobilized.
Once satisfied with her handiwork, Ruby took a moment to catch her breath. She settled into another chair directly across from me, her eyes locked onto mine with an unsettling, sweet smile gracing her lips. There was an eerie calmness to her demeanor, as if she were savoring the moment.
"It's okay, Ethan. You will be safe here," she murmured softly, leaning in closer. Her breath brushed against my ear. "No one will hurt you. I will protect you, and in return, you have to learn to love me."
