The Manor was quiet when we returned.
That particular pre-dawn quiet that meant the clan were mostly asleep, either that or they had the sense not to ask questions about why their Chief was riding in at this hour with three unconscious dark elves draped across wolves and his right arm moving like it belonged to someone else.
I had Haji - who appeared from nowhere the way he always did, somehow always awake when something was happening - take the dark elves to the east wing and have their injuries treated as much as possible. Same as Vargan.
I eyed the familiar elf for a while, still trying to connect the dots. "Do I just brand him and see?" I considered the option for a second before shaking my head.
'Whatever, let's leave it for now. It's not like he is going anywhere, anytime soon.'
I stood in front of the Manor entrance for a moment after everyone dispersed, and checked my right arm.
