Book 1: Awakening & First Spark
Chapter 1: The Cheapest Magic Wand in the Academy
Zain opened his eyes to the smell of old books, fresh ink, and something suspiciously like burnt toast.
He was lying on cool cobblestone, surrounded by towering ivy-covered arches that looked like they'd been ripped straight out of a fantasy movie poster. Sunlight filtered through stained-glass windows depicting dragons and wizards in dramatic poses. A gentle breeze carried the distant sound of someone practicing lute scales—badly.
"…Okay," he whispered, sitting up slowly. "This is either the best dream ever or I really did win the afterlife lottery."
A soft chime rang in his head, and the familiar blue screen appeared, floating at eye level like a very polite hologram.

Zain blinked at the last line. "The system has a sense of humor. Cute."
He stood up, dusted off his new academy uniform—simple gray robes with silver trim, surprisingly comfortable—and patted himself down. No phone, no wallet, no jalebi crumbs. Just him, the robes, and a small leather satchel that appeared at his hip.
Inside: one wooden wand (very basic, looks like it was carved by a drunk carpenter), a beginner's grimoire titled Fundamentals of Mana Weaving: Don't Blow Yourself Up Edition, and a single copper coin stamped with a smiling moon.
"Budget isekai starter pack," he muttered with a grin. "Respect."
A bell tolled somewhere in the distance—deep, resonant, the kind that made your chest vibrate. Students began pouring out of side corridors, chattering in a mix of excited voices. Most looked human, but a few had pointed ears, shimmering scales, or tails that swished nervously.
Zain took a deep breath. Time to blend in.
He slipped into the crowd, keeping his head down and his smile bright but not too bright. The key to pretending to be normal: act exactly like the slightly awkward new kid everyone expects.
A girl with cat ears bumped into him. "Watch it, newbie!"
"Sorry, sorry!" Zain raised both hands, laughing. "First day jitters. You know how it is."
She narrowed her eyes, then sniffed. "You smell like… sugar? Weird."
"Family recipe," he said smoothly. "Jalebi. Best thing in any world."
She snorted but didn't press. "Whatever. Orientation's that way. Don't be late or Professor Grimshaw will turn you into a frog for a week."
"Noted. Thanks, uh…?"
"Rina. Don't die on day one." She flicked her tail and vanished into the throng.
Zain watched her go, already filing away: friendly but prickly. Potential future friend? Maybe.
He followed the flow toward a massive amphitheater carved into the side of a hill. Hundreds of students were already seated on tiered stone benches. At the center stage stood a tall, severe-looking man in black robes—Professor Grimshaw, presumably—holding a staff topped with a glowing purple crystal.
The professor cleared his throat. The sound echoed like thunder.
"Welcome, fledglings, to Eldoria Academy. You are here because you possess the spark. Whether you fan it into a bonfire or let it gutter out is entirely up to you."
He swept his gaze across the crowd. When it landed on Zain, it lingered for half a second longer than necessary.
Zain gave a small, sheepish wave.
Grimshaw's lip twitched. "We begin with the Aptitude Ceremony. Step forward when your name is called. Touch the Orb of Revelation. It will show your elemental affinity and potential circuit strength."
Names rolled out one by one.
"Elara Voss—Fire, High Potential."
A red-haired girl stepped up, touched the orb. Flames danced around her fingers. Applause.
"Toren Blackthorn—Earth, Medium."
A stocky boy grunted as stone patterns appeared on his skin.
Then—
"Zain Parhar."
Zain walked forward, heart doing a cheerful little bhangra in his chest. Everyone was watching. Perfect.
He placed his hand on the Orb.
It pulsed once.
Twice.
Then—
A soft, rainbow shimmer rippled across its surface. Not one color. All of them. Faint, gentle, like someone had spilled a paintbox into water.
The amphitheater went dead silent.
Professor Grimshaw's eyes widened. "…Omni-affinity? At novice level?"
Murmurs erupted.
"Omni? That's impossible for a commoner transfer."
"Must be a glitch in the orb."
Zain scratched the back of his head, laughing nervously. "Uh… surprise?"
Inside his mind, the system pinged cheerfully.
[Talent Activation (Hidden Mode): Instant Max Level applied to Base Mana Sensing, Mana Channeling, and All Elemental Affinities.]
[Current Status: All basic magic circuits unlocked and mastered at 100%.]
[Fusion Option Available: Combine into [Prism Mana Core] for 0 SP cost? Y/N]
Zain's grin widened internally. Oh hell yes.
He mentally selected Y.
A warm pulse spread through his body. Nothing flashy on the outside—just a slight glow in his eyes that he quickly blinked away.
To everyone else, he looked like a slightly embarrassed kid who'd lucked into a rare affinity.
Grimshaw recovered first. "Remarkable. You will be placed in the Advanced Track despite your… humble origins. Do not squander this gift, young Parhar."
"Yes, sir!" Zain saluted with mock seriousness. "I'll train super hard!"
Snickers from the crowd. Good. Let them think he's the comic relief underdog.
As he returned to his seat, he caught sight of her.
Up in the highest row, half-hidden by shadow: a girl with silver hair so pale it almost glowed, pointed elven ears, and eyes like storm clouds. She was reading a thick tome, completely ignoring the ceremony.
Lirael Silverwind.
The reclusive archmage-to-be. The side objective.
Zain's smile turned soft, genuine.
Challenge accepted.
The ceremony ended. Students dispersed toward dorms and first classes.
Zain lingered, pretending to tie his nonexistent shoelace, until the amphitheater was mostly empty.
Then he strolled casually up the steps toward the top row.
Lirael didn't look up.
"Hi," Zain said brightly. "I'm Zain. The weird omni kid. Mind if I sit?"
She turned a page. "I mind everything."
"Fair. But I brought moral support." He pulled the copper moon coin from his satchel and flicked it toward her. It spun in the air, catching the light.
Lirael's hand snapped out and caught it without looking. She finally glanced at him, eyebrow raised.
"…A bribe?"
"Nah. A conversation starter. Moon coin from my village. Supposed to bring good luck."
She studied it, then him. "You're strange."
"I get that a lot." He sat down anyway, cross-legged on the stone bench beside her. "So… you're Lirael, right? The genius everyone whispers about?"
"I don't whisper. I study."
"Cool. I study too. Mostly by failing spectacularly first, then figuring it out."
For the first time, the corner of her mouth twitched. Not quite a smile. Close enough.
"You'll die in Advanced Track," she said flatly.
"Probably," Zain agreed cheerfully. "But I'll die laughing. Want to team up so I don't embarrass myself alone?"
Lirael stared at him for a long moment.
Then she sighed, the sound of someone surrendering to the inevitable.
"…Fine. But if you slow me down, I'll turn you into a newt."
"Deal!" Zain beamed. "Newt-Zain sounds adorable."
She rolled her eyes, but she didn't move away.
Zain leaned back, looking out over the sprawling academy grounds as the twin suns began to set.
First day in God Domain.
First friend recruited.
First secret OP talent flex (hidden, of course).
And the best part?
It felt like the start of the best adventure ever.
Somewhere deep in his soul, the Prism Mana Core pulsed softly, already hungry for more.
Zain whispered to himself, too quiet for anyone else to hear:
"Chalo, universe. Let's see how many legends I can collect before anyone figures out I'm cheating."
The wind carried his laughter across the golden campus.
The First Spark had been lit.
And it was only going to get brighter.
