"What's going on here?"
Sona was still trying to get over his shock when another voice called out. "Sister why are you bugging this nice man?" A stern, female voice called out to the girl in front of Sona.
"Just go away, Elandeli," The emotionless girl responded, ordering her sister to leave in a monotone voice.
"That's no way to talk to your older sister," The girl known as Elandeli shot back at her. Sona noticed two sharp fangs in her mouth whenever she spoke.
'Is she a vampire?' Sona thought to himself and kept a close eye on her. He half laughed at himself for thinking something so foolish.
"Now come on. Stop bugging this handsome gentleman. We still have to finish getting stuff for class tomorrow," Elandeli snapped and reached her hand up, grabbing hold of her sister's ear. Sona's jaw dropped at her movements. Her hand was so quick that Sona barely even saw her move. "Come along, Konotsune. By the way, my name is Countess Elandeli Darkfang. Do be a dear and remember for next time we meet," She said seductively and licked her lips at him as she dragged her sister away by her ear.
"Ow. That hurts. Please let go, Ellie," The girl known as Konotsune still spoke in her non emotional voice. No matter how hard Elandeli pulled, Konostune's voice never changed. It was kind of cute watching her complain without ever changing the sound of her voice.
"What a bunch of weirdos," Sona shook his head slowly and laughed out loud. "At least my new life is proving to be entertaining," He continued as he started to turn around to look for Deltune. He felt somebody behind him and his eyes were suddenly covered by someone's hands.
"Guess who?" A familiar voice whispered in his ear. Sona grabbed the hands that were covering his eyes and without turning around he spoke to the voice behind him.
"Your hands are so soft they give you away, Del," He teased and turned around to face her. "I met two interesting weirdos who were vampires," Sona spoke that word aloud as if it was no big deal any more. 'I'm surprisingly calm for meeting a vampire. Is that thanks to Del, too?' He thought to himself and looked down at Deltune.
"I told you this world would be very different than the one you came from, Sona. You might even one day meet a dragon. This world is filled with all kinds of mythical beings. You just have to keep your eyes open," Deltune finished speaking and looked up and Sona. "Come on, let's head back. It's getting pretty late. Class starts tomorrow, are you excited?" She continued the conversation as they made their way to the exit of the mall.
"Surprisingly, I'm pretty calm, given my unusual circumstances. I'm more nervous of making a good first impression," Sona admitted honestly to Deltune. In his old life, he was so worried about looking cool and being popular. He stepped on every person he could to rise to the top. Not this time. "It will just be so strange to have four different teachers," He looked to Deltune who was smiling softly as she listened to him speak.
"Well, we will have the same instructor for a small amount of time each day before you have to switch classes," Deltune whispered softly and looked to Sona as they exited the building and walked outside. "I know it might be exhausting for you, Sona, but I believe in you, so do your best, okay?" It was evident that Deltune was worried Sona would end up getting in over his head. "You can't do everything on your own, no matter how powerful you may become. I'll be beside you, so you can rely on me, too," Deltune spoke softly, trying to convince Sona he wasn't alone.
"Thank you, Del. I appreciate what you are trying to do for me. Don't worry, I'll figure out my limits so I won't go overboard. Is that acceptable?" He replied to Deltune's concerns as they continued the walk home. "Thinking about tomorrow is giving me butterflies," He admitted to Deltune what he was truly feeling was anxious. 'I have to do well tomorrow.' He tried to keep positive thoughts in his mind as they entered into the dorm building.
"I'll hold you to your word then, Sona. Don't you dare break your promise to a woman. That would not be very gentlemanly of you," She chastised him jokingly, but there was a hint of seriousness in her voice.
Sona started chuckling as the two of them entered into the elevator. They went quiet while inside the elevator, each of them unsure of what to say.
"Are you sure--?" Sona went to ask Deltune.
"What do you--?" Deltune spoke at the exact same time as Sona and the two of them laughed together. "You go first, Sona," Deltune offered as the door to the elevator swung open. They walked down the hall to their room and got to the door before Sona spoke again.
"Are you sure you made the right call, Del?" He asked as he took out his key to unlock the room. "What I mean to ask is, you don't regret giving up your divinity to be mortal like me?" He asked softly as the two of them entered the room. Deltune shut the door behind them and locked it once it was shut. She leaned up against the door and sighed softly. "Did I say something wrong?" He asked as he sat his bags on the couch.
"I've been worried all day about my father's decision. I feel like he has something dangerous planned for you. Maybe I shouldn't have brought you here. I'm sorry, Sona," She whispered softly and stared at the ground.
"Del," He whispered her name softly and walked towards her slowly.
"Don't," She ordered and started sniffling as tears streamed down her face. "If you are going to lecture me, just don't say anything," She breathed heavily and tried to dry her eyes.
"Honestly I've never been much good at pep talks or lectures. I do know this, though, if it wasn't for you, I would be dead. Del you saved me and gave me a second chance at life. Even if I die in this world, I would never blame you. Things will be alright. I'll become strong enough so you won't have to worry, okay? I'll make that a promise, too if it will help you believe me," He was trying anything he could think of to try and cheer her up.
Her sobbing started subsiding as Sona walked closer to her. "Here," He gently grabbed chin with one hand and lifted her head up carefully. He used his other hand to grab hold of his shirt and started carefully trying her tears. "Now, we've had a long day. I'm gonna shower and probably hit the sack. You gonna be okay? If not, I'll just be in the other room," He said softly and turned around to go to his room. He picked up his bags and walked off to the right, shutting the door behind him.
He placed his hand over his chest and grabbed a handful of his shirt. 'Holy cow. My heart won't slow down. What was I thinking? How could I do something so bold? What if she thinks I'm wierd now.' He thought to himself as he made his way to the bathroom. He heard the shower turn on in Deltune's room and smiled softly. 'I wonder if my words helped her any?' He thought to himself and turned the shower on, too.
Sona jumped inside and quickly scrubbed himself down. After getting nice and wet, he lathered himself good before rinsing the soap off his body. He stuck his fiery red hair under the shower and let the water run down his face. Grabbing the shampoo bottle, Sona poured some onto his hand and started scrubbing his head. 'I wonder why my appearance changed so much.' He shrugged this thought off and rinsed his hair out. Once he finished, he cut the shower off and climbed out to dry himself off.
He put on a pair of the boxers he bought earlier and looked through his bags for his pajamas. Sona finally found them and began to put them on. He bought a pair of black sweat pants and a white sleeveless shirt that fit rather nicely. "I made a good choice," He said and nodded along with his own statement. Sona walked into his room when a light knock on his door stopped him for a moment.
"Sona, are you still awake?" Deltune called through the door. Sona walked over and opened the door slightly. Standing in a long flowing red nightgown was Deltune. She had both hands around her pillow as she stood outside his door. "Would it be okay if I slept here tonight?" She asked shyly and looked away from Sona. "I'm sorry. This was stupid of me," She turned around to leave and Sona opened his door wider. He gently grabbed Deltune's hand to stop her.
"It's okay. I feel kind of alone, too. I faced a lot of changes today. At least having you in here would feel normal for a bit," Sona blushed shyly and gently pulled her inside his room. He grabbed his pillow off the bed and laid down on the floor with a blanket.
"Sona, you could sleep up here, too. It's not like I'll bite or anything," She said sheepishly as she climbed into the bed. She buried her face into her pillow, blushing a deep shade of red. 'I can't believe I asked to stay with him. I'm so embarrassed.' She thought to herself and looked over to Sona. He was already asleep and snoring lightly. 'I hope you meant it when you said you didn't blame me, Sona.' She thought as she closed her eyes and fell asleep.
