Chapter 12 - The Next Day

The next morning came quicker than the day before, at least that is how it felt. The sun danced between the curtains as they were moved by the wind. "Mm. Again? I hate the sun," Sona muttered from beneath the covers. He sat up slowly and rubbed his eyes, yawning softly. He went to crawl out of bed but was stopped when he felt two sets of arms around his chest. 'What is that?' He thought sleepily to himself and looked behind him. His eyes almost popped out of his skull as his jaw dropped lower then he ever thought possible. Sleeping on either side of him, were two female figures. He recognized the one to his right, it was Deltune. "Then who's...?" He asked out loud and gently pulled the covers off the other person's face. Laying on the other side of him, in one of his shirts no less, laid his Master, Saphira. "What!" Sona half shouted but managed to cover his mouth in time. He looked at both the sleeping beauties sharing his bed before turning his gaze to the ceiling. 'These girls are gonna be the death of me. I can just feel it.' He thought this to himself and laid back down.

"Good, your master was getting cold. You took the blanket with you," Saphira spoke up sleepily as she snuggled back up against Sona before falling asleep again.

'Sona, what have you gotten yourself into?' He mentally questioned his actions before deciding it best to go back to sleep. Today was his free day, aside from the Ritual of Transfer and meeting the teacher of Holy magic.

Two hours later, Sona finally awakened and looked around the room. He took a peak to both sides and sure enough, Deltune and Saphira were both still asleep. Each one cuddled up against either side. This time when he woke, however, both of the women did, as well. Both Saphira and Deltune had been wearing one of his shirts. The thought caused his face to turn red as they both yawned and started stretching. "Good morning, Sona," Saphira was the first to speak up and greet Sona.

"Yes, good morning, Sona," Deltune piped in and the two girls locked eyes. Sona could feel the tension in the air as he stood up.

"Good morning, ladies. Um. Master? Why were you in my bed? And you, too, Del?" Sona asked as he sat back down on his bed. 'I could understand Del staying, after all, we already spent one night together. Then, why is Master here?' He thought to himself.

"Sona, she wanted to sleep in your bed. I wouldn't allow that, but I couldn't stop her. And I..." Deltune spoke up but her voice grew quieter towards the end of her sentence.

"She got jealous, Sona. Master and Disciple share a unique and intimate bond. She didn't want us to be alone," Saphira said as she sat behind Sona. She wrapped her arms around his neck from behind and leaned into him. Saphira was now doing these things on purpose to tease Deltune.

"Be quiet. You don't know what you're talking about, and stop clinging to him," Deltune's face was red from Saphira's teasing, but also because she was embarrassed. She wished she could be as free spirited as Saphira, but she didn't think that would ever happen.

"Oh? Then that means I can have Sona all to myself?" Saphira questioned and gave Deltune a sly smile. Sona's face was red and he was in a state of stunned bliss. Two beautiful women were actually fighting over him. HIM!

"No! I won't let you have him all to yourself!" Deltune half shouted as she threw her arms around Sona and pushed herself into him.

"D-Deltune?" Sona muttered her name and looked over at Saphira, but despite Deltune's declaration, she was just smiling. 'Good. At least she is having fun.' Sona thought to himself before trying to figure a way out of this mess of arms that enveloped him. "Oh, right, Master, we have to perform the rite today, don't we?" Sona whispered and looked back at Saphira. She nodded and pressed her forehead against Sona's back.

"It's been so long," Saphira whispered into Sona's back and he pretended to not hear her, for now. There was so much about Saphira that needed to be kept secret. He wanted to respect his Master's wishes, so he didn't tell a soul. "Alright, Sona. I must go and prepare my body for the ritual," Saphira said jokingly to Sona, to which, Deltune's cheeks puffed up. "She's so cute when she's jealous. Right, Sona?" Saphira winked at Sona before disappearing out the window.

"What does she mean ritual, Sona? What are the two of you doing out in the woods?" Deltune's cheeks were still puffed up and she had a pouty look on her face.

"Ah, well it's," Sona trailed off for a minute, unsure of what to say or what he could tell her. Her hand shot up and grabbed Sona's cheek before pulling hard. "Ow, ow, okay," Sona groaned as Deltune let go. "It's some cultural thing that Saphira's village does when a Master takes on a disciple. I guess you could call it a rite of passage? I'm not entirely sure how the ceremony works, but she's a trusted member in Headmaster Hawthorne's employ, so I trust her," He spouted off this nonsense as it appeared in his head and for the most part, Deltune bought his story.

"Okay, I believe you, Sona. I know you wouldn't lie to me without good reason," Deltune said as she stood up to walk to her room. "Okay. I'm going to get changed for class. You should do the same," Deltune hollered at him as she passed through the door out of his room.

Sona fell back onto his bed and spread his body out, happy to be alone for the moment. "Man, what a crazy start to my life. I never thought I would be so popular. Arzotz, what do you have planned for me? Are you sure you chose the right man for this daunting task? What if you made an error?" Sona questioned the Will of the Gods but his questions went unanswered. "I figured that would be your response. I guess I'll learn eventually," Sona finished his thoughts and looked at Deltune's room. 'Does she really care for me? Is that why she was acting like Master?' Sona thought to himself as he finally stood tall to dress himself.

Sona strolled out of his room and Deltune was sitting in the living room waiting for him. "It's about time. You should know by now, never make a woman wait, Sona. A task you will need to master soon," Deltune teased him and stuck her tongue out.

"Yeah, yeah," Sona yawned as he responded to Deltune and looked around the room. "I guess we better head out. I have to go see Master first and get this ritual over with. After that, I have to see Ethana Dawnguard. She teaches how to manipulate holy affinity. I'm free after that so we can eat lunch with our friends," Sona threw out an idea to include the Vampire sisters and Jaesu. He wanted to make as many friends as he could in this new life. 'It feels good to have people I can rely on now.' Sona smiled at this thought and motioned for Deltune. "Let's go, Del. I'll walk you to your class," Sona opened the door as Deltune approached.

She stopped in front of him and looked up slowly. "Sona, I have a confession to make, but I'm afraid how you will react, so I will wait until tonight after your classes are over," With that said, Deltune stood up on her tippy toes and planted a quick kiss on Sona's lips. "That's for making me jealous," Deltune hurried off alone, leaving Sona in stunned silence. Deltune ran down the hall to the elevator and ducked inside to be alone. Once the doors closed, she collapsed to her knees and clutched her chest. 'My heart won't stop pounding. Why did I kiss him and run away? He must be so confused. I can't do this to him right now. He needs to focus. I'll put my feelings aside for now.' Deltune came to the realization that what she felt for him before was real. This feeling only reaffirmed her decision.

'I will tell him tonight.' She finished her thoughts as the elevator door swung open. She took off alone making a beeline for Valindra's class.
