Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: End of Captain Marvel (1/2)

"Wait, what" Law exclaimed clearly surprised.

"I asked if you would be willing to help up get the core from Mar-Vell's laboratory," Talos repeated hoping that the young superhuman would agree.

"No, I understood you the first time it just shocked me. You do understand that I'm a kid right, I might be a kid with powers but that doesn't make me less of one." Law inquired curiously.

"Yeah kid I know, and I probably shouldn't be asking you this, but we need all the help we can get. As soon as we get the core from Mar-Vell's ship we'll bring you right back, I just have a feeling that we might need the extra help. Also, the fact that you handled your first kill so well makes me believe that you are mature enough. I won't lie to you, this will probably be a very dangerous mission, but I need help saving my people. So please will you help me." Talos said while bowing.

"No, I will not let my child go head first into a fight. Hasn't he suffered enough, already having to kill at his age" Lissandra yelled furious that Talos asked for Law's help.

"Please, give me a moment to think about this," Law said to Talos before dragging his mother to another room.

'I'm not handling the fact that I have killed very well. I've just locked away those thoughts until everything is over' Law rebuked Talos in his mind.

"Law you seriously can't be actually considering his request right. They are heading into a mission that will probably get them killed. I will not have you putting your life in danger, even if it is for the sake of others" Liz said clearly taken back by the fact that Law may actually be considering Talos's offer.

"I am considering his offer mom. I want to actually experience going to space, and this would be my best chance," Law explained while putting on an expression of childlike wonder.

"Law do you really think I would fall for that. Do you want to try again?" Liz asked with a deadpan look.

"The reason that I want to go is so that I can test the powers that I have recently gained. Before you say it's too dangerous, my regeneration is strong enough that even lost limbs will easily regenerate. I can also move fast enough so that the possibility of me getting hit it very low. The final reason is that I'm still pissed that they tried to hurt you, and I want to take out the rest of my anger in a 'constructive' manner." Law stated hoping that his intelligent well thought out answer would get through to his mom.

"So, what you're basically telling me is that you want to test out your cool new powers against psychotic aliens so that you can vent your anger and look cool. I'll give you one more chance so choose wisely." Liz commanded while staring at Law as if she had soul sight as well.

"Fine, I don't have any good reason okay.

I know I don't have the best moral compass; I would easily kill another if someone I loved was going to be hurt. I'm not the type of hero that would sacrifice themselves and their loved ones for the good of many.

I'm a selfish person, I know that. I'm the type of person that would easily pick saving family over the world. But that doesn't mean I'm heartless and won't help someone who desperately needs it. Especially if it's something that I could easily do.

The last few years of my life have been amazing, but there's always been a thought in the back of my head that I could be doing more. Every time I see Talos's soul, I see a man who just wants to go back to his family. It reminds me of my past self every time I see the pain in his soul. I just want to help mom" Law replied honestly. Liz stared at Law for a few moments before starting to chuckle sadly.

"Finally, you've told me the real reason you want to go. I know honey, I probably know your personality better than yourself. I know you want to help Law; I just don't want you to be in any kind of danger. If you swear to me that you'll put your safety first, I'll let you go. After all, I'm a selfish person as well"

"I promise mom, I love you"

With that Law went and told Talos his decision to join, causing him to let out a relieved sigh before thanking Law repeatedly. Law had one thing that he definitely needed to accomplish before they left. Law quickly found Carol with his soul-sight, who luckily wasn't busy, so he headed towards her.

"Ms. Danver's could I ask you something?"

"Sure, little Law you can ask me anything? Also, call me Aunt Carol, after all, your mom is basically a sister to me" Carol replied while smiling.

"I wanted to ask why you have a chip on your neck. I saw it the first time we met but I did not know what it was, so I wanted to ask" Law inquired trying to act curious.

"So, you want to know about this. *she said while rubbing her neck* It's something I got from the supreme intelligence that helps me control my powers" she said while looking at Law inquisitively.

"What's the supreme intelligence" questioned Law, this time actually curious. Although he watched the MCU movies and read some the comics in his past life, Law wasn't a Marvel universe buff by any means. He knew the major MCU events and as well as somethings about mutants but that was it. The supreme intelligence is something he only heard about in the movies in passing.

"The supreme intelligence is an A.I that was created by the Kree empire's greatest minds. It is able to assimilate the minds of dead Kree further enhancing itself. It also controls the Kree Empire, and keeps order within it, though I don't know exactly how." Carol said getting more and more curious at why Law was asking these questions.

"One last question, how exactly did you get your powers. I can tell you that I got mine by using a strengthening technique." Law asked trying to lead the conversation.

"I was originally told by my Kree mentor that it was gifted to me by the Supreme Intelligence, but after I got my memories back, I remember gaining them from an energy blast that Mar-Vell's core released. So, are you finally going to tell me why you been asking me these leading questions?" Carol stated with a smirk on her face as Law instantly gained a horrified look from being found out. Realizing that the jig was up, Law let out a sigh.

"Fine, you got me. In the beginning, I really was curious about the chip but when you said that it was to control your power's I instantly realized that it may have another purpose.

After all, if the Kree really are as intelligent as you make them out to be wouldn't they have safety mechanisms to prevent soldiers from rebelling. Especially after Mar-Vell's betrayal. So, when you said that the chip would help control your powers it makes me think that it's actually something that is being used to control you.

After all who wants a superpowered uncontrollable soldier. They are probably using it to either suppress your powers keeping you on a leash, or they are using it to affect your mind. Both terrifying with the second option being even more horrifying. The chip would also allow them to track you, which would explain how we were found so fast." Explained Law hoping that Carol would believe him.

Carol stood shocked for a few minutes before letting out a small self-deprecating chuckle.

"You've actually thought that out so thoroughly, while I've just been letting it stay that on my neck this whole time forgetting about it. Tell me Law, if this thing really does allow me to control my powers what would happen if I removed it." Carol asked trying to consider what would happen if she removed it.

"If the chip really is helping you control your powers then as soon as you removed it, it would release any excess power that it was restraining probably causing an explosion near you," Law replied honestly to her inquiry.

"Then I can't remove can I. I don't want to cause any damage her or draw the attention of anyone around here, whether they be Kree or civilians," Carol responded.

"If I can provide a space that will allow you to remove the chip in complete isolation would you. Despite my young age, I have university degrees in both engineering and genetics. Also, we have Talos's scientific crew so we could probably fix the chip if it was broken from the removal. So please try removing it" Law begged Carol.

"Very well, bring me to your isolated area." Carol sighed finally agreeing.

"Thank you so much, Aunt Carol, but umm could you please close your eyes and not resist," Law asked shyly knowing that his request was weird.

Carol narrowed her eyes at him.

"Fine, kid. What kind of Aunty would I believe if I didn't believe in my cute little nephew?" She said as she closed her eyes. If she had waited a moment longer, she would have seen Law pout due to being called small. With Carol standing still Law pulled her into his dimension.

"Aunt Carol you can open your eyes now," Law said while waking up to the grandfather clock increasing the time dilation.

"Where are we Law? I've never seen a world quite like this." She said while looking around in amazement.

"Aunt Carol this is my personal space. Please hurry up, we don't have much time until we have to leave." Law lied urging her to hurry up.

"Ok fine, cheeky little brat." She huffed bracing herself she quickly powered up her hands and tore the chip off. Carol felt power wash over her, quickly growing to levels she never imagined possible. She felt her power continue growing until it saturated her whole body, but never once did it try and overtake her. She had full control over it, a power that she had struggled using for years, she now could use easily as her own arms.

Anger quickly grew inside her, she wanted revenge against the bastards that tried to use her as their own toy soldier. She was almost overcome before she heard Law calling out to her. Carol regained her bearings and powered down. She approached Law with a large smile on her face and pulled him into a hug.

"Thank you"

"Your welcome," Law said while remaining in her embrace for a few moments. He then brought them out of his realm and made his aunt promise that she wouldn't mention anything about it.

'That will have to do for now' Law thought while bringing the chip that he had taken from Carol to the Skrull to see if they could keep it working.

'After all, having the Kree gather in one place would be beneficial for wiping them out' Law thought darkly.

The Skrull scientists worked quickly on the new piece of technology, fixing anything that was broken and keeping the tracker active.

Unfortunately, they were not able to reverse track the Kree, but they were able to make it seemed as if the removal had been a lapse in the system. If this would actually trick the Kree they wouldn't know until later.
