In Maria's dining room, everyone sat quietly with the atmosphere tense well except for Monica because she wasn't coming back from her grandparent's house until the next day. They had just won a battle with the Kree, and while most were content with the proceedings of the day there was one person who wasn't quite happy.
"Law, are you finally going to explain your powers, and what you are?" Fury asked interrogating Law.
Fury was a man of principle, discipline, curiosity, and paranoia. While, his paranoia wasn't to the level of Mad-eye moody, or future Fury, it was still there always trying to determine the threat levels of everyone else. In the avenger's movies, he is paranoid about everyone and everything, which in turn actually saved his life, but it also led him to be considered one of the more annoying characters in the MCU. While, in the Captain Marvel movies, a young, less rough Fury is introduced he has still shown a healthy amount of distrust for everyone, and only losses most of his suspicions when he determines their power levels, and their motives (author's note mainly motives).
Law smiled and continued to look at Fury.
"Sure, I run really fast, and I can shoot fire from my hands. As for what I am, I would say I'm human. Does that answer your questions Fury?" Law replied while still smiling.
"Then, what about that place you brought us to when the Kree were holding us hostage. How did you do that, and where were we?" Fury demanded while getting more and more annoyed.
"Did you not check the brochures, I made sure to leave some out there?" Law replied with an innocent look on his face, causing Fury's eye to start twitching as his anger grew.
This continued on for about 10 mins, with Law answering questions while giving out information they already knew pissing Fury off, much to the amusements of everyone else in the room. The more Fury got angry the more frequently his eye twitched and the more veins appeared on his forehead.
"Kid, why the hell won't you just answer my questions properly?" Fury yelled, annoyed that he was being toyed with by a small kid.
"Fury answer me this why should I trust you with my secrets. I don't even know you. You're not my family, you're not my friend, so why should I trust you with any of my secrets? So that you can report my powers to your superiors, or put me on some list as a danger to society? Or maybe it's so you can track me down and use me as an experimental toy? The thing that you don't seem to understand is that I keep my powers a secret so that I can protect those that I love and cherish. So why are you trying so hard to figure out everything about me" Law snapped.
"Because you are an anomaly and possibly a threat to the safety of others. What if you or someone with similar powers to you try and harm others with it. We need to know so that you could be stopped?" Fury stated causing Law to break out into laughter, confusing everyone in the room.
"You say that you need to know my powers, and what I'm capable of so that you could protect others from me. Your forgetting something Fury, while you are trying to protect everyone else from a possibility, I'm trying to protect myself and my loved ones from reality. If you inform your superiors about me, what is to stop them from killing my family, everyone I love and just abducting me to find out how I work and try and replicate it. After all, are you honestly going to tell me that our government and possibly many other organizations and governments are not experimenting on humans and mutants? After all, America's greatest Hero was just a lucky experiment, the first to succeed where so many other's failed. What's going to stop these organizations and governments from using me as a weapon or a test subject?" Law replied causing Fury to slump down into a recliner clearly put out by everything Law said. A few minutes passed letting what Law said to sink into to everyone in the room. Even the Skrull who were world hopping trying to find refuge in various worlds were put off by this fact.
After taking in everything that Law said, Fury, released sigh.
"So how are you going to keep me from talking, or telling anyone about your powers? You clearly don't trust me enough to allow me to go free, hell I wouldn't trust that I would keep this a secret. So how are you going to stop us?" Fury said while looking slightly defeated, but his question struck hard, making the group look at Law in slight fear except of course his mother, and surprisingly Carol.
"I am going to make you take lifeblood oaths, they are promises that are made on your life and soul. It will subconsciously stop you from leaking information but if you actively try and break the oath, it would turn against you; killing you," Law said unperturbed by everyone's looks.
"Law, do you really believe this to be necessary," Carol asked not the least bit disturbed.
"Yes, if it was just me, I had to worry about I wouldn't really care if you told everyone about my powers drawing the attention of multiple unsavory groups. But any attention that I draw will also put my mother and loved ones in danger. I'm not like you Aunt Carol, I can't just leave and go into space, I still have business here. I also don't want any attention to be given to earth yet, because that would incite more attacks against us. Thus, I want everyone here to take lifeblood oaths." Law replied causing Carol to nod.
"What are the conditions for the Oath. If you are going to make us take something this binding, I believe we deserve to know the details. Are there any other ways to keep our silence other than this oath?" Maria asked with a stern look on her face not portraying any emotions. Law had already well prepared for these questions, spending some time in his realm going over various options until he settled on this one.
"There were two other options that the lifeblood oath, with one being non-useable for anyone here.
The first non-useable option was an oath to the heavens for anyone other than me.
The second option was to erase your memories using soul techniques. But this would take me some time, and I'm not really comfortable with messing with friendly people's minds, or capable of it *yet Law left unsaid*.
The last option was the lifeblood oath because it is applicable for any race at any power level. It is unbreakable and unescapable thus would fit my intentions perfectly.
The conditions for the LifeBlood Oath would be the following:
- You are not able to release or store information about Lawrence Napier and Lissandra Napier in any form that is not normal for civilians.
- You are not to bring attention to Lawrence Napier and his mother (Fury can track them, but only personally and without the help of anyone else and also without a paper or electronic trail because that would bring attention to them.)
- If asked about Lawrence Napier's powers by individuals that already know it exists, lie, and underrate the powers. (Basically, if someone already knows about his powers, then no adding on their own information, and basically trying to play him off as a lower level threat)
- This Oath will last 10 years, or until Lawrence Napier's powers have become public knowledge. (Lifeblood Oaths are forever, even after death and reincarnation so having a time limit is necessary. This is enough time for Law to get enough power that he wouldn't be threatened by people at this level.)
Those are my conditions for the lifeblood oath" Law said. This led to a discussion between Skrull, Maria, and Fury for the next few hours. Carol surprisingly agreed easily and quickly having no reason to disagree with the oath and fully understanding why Law had forced this upon them.
The Skrull similarly completely understood Law's intentions but were still a little put off by the fact that it was tied to their life. After deliberation, they all agreed seeing no harm from it as long as they didn't sell out their savior; an action which would be considered treason in the first place.
Fury also agreed after a few hours of deliberation, but after receiving a promise from Law that he would help out against supernatural threats that targeted the whole world Fury agreed. Subconsciously this also initiated Fury thoughts to bring together a superhero team to protect the world.
Finally, Maria was the hardest to convince and the most disheartened by the oath. It wasn't the fact that she had to hide Law's powers that hurt her, it was the fact that he did not trust them to keep the secret. After ensuring that her daughter would not have to take the oath, Maria reluctantly took the oath while looking at Law disapprovingly. It would probably take many years for her to forgive for his actions, but that is a story better left to the future.
After a few days, Carol and the Skrull were ready to leave, with Carol giving Fury, and Law a pager to call if they ever needed something. With this Law and Lissandra drove back home. Law needed time to cope with his actions as he had locked away his emotions related to him killing the Kree soldiers. Time at home would allow Law the time needed to deal with his inner demons and come to terms with his actions.
