Chapter 86 - Chapter 86: Officially Cut Off The Tie

Grandpa Tang instructed his personal driver to stop the car directly in front of a certain house. He stared out the window, looking at the building intensely. He knew he had to settle this annoying legal matter quickly for the absolute peace of mind of his beloved granddaughter.

Without wasting another minute, he stepped out of the back seat of the car. He walked up to the porch and knocked firmly on the front door. A few moments later, someone came and opened it. Grandpa Tang maintained a thoroughly stern and serious expression.

The person who had come to open the door was visibly startled upon seeing Grandpa Tang standing there. However, that person quickly forced a polite smile onto her face while greeting him.

That person was Wang Ha Na. Yes, the residence Grandpa Tang had travelled all this way to visit was none other than the Wang family home. He had urgent business to conclude with the Wang Family. Otherwise, he would have never set foot near this place. In fact, under normal circumstances, even throwing a passing glance at this house was not a thing he considered worth doing.

"I want to see your mother. Is she in?" Grandpa Tang demanded.

Even though he felt deeply disgusted by this entire family, he refused to be outright impolite to others as long as they didn't actively anger him.

"Yes! Yes, my mother is inside. Grandpa Tang, please come in." Wang Ha Na said eagerly, trying her best to impress Grandpa Tang by behaving like a sweet, well-mannered girl.

She already knew this prestigious old man's name because she had previously overheard some of the neighbourhood aunties gossiping about him and Yu Qi.

"Do not call me Grandpa Tang. I never gave you permission to call me that, did I?" Grandpa Tang said coldly, using his sharp eyes to exert a heavy psychological pressure on Wang Ha Na.

Wang Ha Na's smile faltered, and she quickly answered, "No, you did not."

"So, don't call me that. Now, where is your mother?" Grandpa Tang asked as he reached the living room, noticing that it was completely deserted.

"Please wait a moment. I will go call her right now." Wang Ha Na paused, turning toward the back of the house.

"Mum! There is someone here who wants to meet you!" Wang Ha Na called out loudly to her mother.

"Just tell him to wait! That damn debtor probably wants me to pay him his money, but we don't have a single penny to give him!" Madam Wang barked back from the kitchen, her voice loud enough for Grandpa Tang to hear every single word clearly.

Wang Ha Na became instantly flustered and embarrassed when she heard her mother answering in such a crude manner. Without waiting any longer, she hurriedly ran back to where her mother was standing.

"Mum, that person out there isn't a debtor! He's that incredibly rich old man who took pity on Yu Qi and took her in!" Wang Ha Na urgently explained to her mother in a hushed tone.

Madam Wang was utterly shocked when Wang Ha Na told her this. "Are you absolutely sure about that?"

"Yes, mum! I remember him perfectly. He was standing close to Yu Qi when the police brought us all down to the station before." Wang Ha Na nodded.

"Really? Go and call your sister quickly!" Madam Wang commanded.

She wanted to face this man with Wang Fu Ya by her side. She seriously wanted to find out why that wealthy old doctor had suddenly come to her house, and she bet it most likely concerned that ungrateful bitch, Yu Qi. Since Wang Fu Ya was a smart, calculating girl, Madam Wang knew her eldest daughter could help her deal with the old man effectively.

"Mum," Wang Fu Ya called out as she entered the room.

"Let's go and meet that old man together." Madam Wang said, tightly pulling Wang Fu Ya's hand.

In reality, Wang Fu Ya was utterly exhausted from her part-time job. She was currently working as a shopkeeper, and the labour was incredibly tiring because she was required to stand on her feet all day long. Sometimes, she even had to lift heavy boxes of stock to organise the storeroom. However, the moment she realised the rich old man connected to Yu Qi was sitting in their living room, her brain instantly started scheming.

"My honourable guest, what exactly is your purpose for coming to our humble home today?" Madam Wang began, speaking with an overly dramatic politeness.

Grandpa Tang practically rolled his eyes. Was this foolish woman sick in the head? Did she honestly think she was filming some historical palace drama?

"I came here for one thing, and one thing only. Let me be completely straightforward with you. Sign this legal agreement, and you will receive a large sum of money." Grandpa Tang did not want to waste another second of his precious time inside this filthy house.

He slung a thick folder onto the table right in front of the Wang Family.

Wang Fu Ya picked up the file and began reading the document carefully. It explicitly outlined the legal relationship between the Wang Family and Yu Qi. The truth was, even though Yu Qi had completely cut off emotional ties with the Wang Family, her name was still legally registered as a member of the Wang household.

Yu Qi was fully aware of this legal loophole, but she simply had not found the time to deal with the paperwork yet. Furthermore, she knew the Wang Family would never willingly agree to officially dissolve the relationship. Normally, Yu Qi would only be able to officially sever the bond on her own once she fully became an adult, which would be on her upcoming 18th birthday.

However, Grandpa Tang wanted to officially adopt Yu Qi as a legal member of the Tang Family right now. When he had gone to the government registration office to finalise the paperwork, he was told he could not proceed because he lacked the written approval of her current legal guardians, Mr and Mrs Wang.

So, here he was, sitting across from the despicable Wang Family just to secure their signatures. He felt incredibly nauseous just thinking about the fact that this horrible woman had once been considered Yu Qi's guardian.

"I want you to sign this agreement immediately." Grandpa Tang stated firmly. "If you sign it, the money is yours."

Madam Wang's eyes shined with absolute greed the moment Grandpa Tang mentioned a cash payout. Meanwhile, Wang Fu Ya was deep in thought. She desperately did not want her mother to sign this agreement. If her mother signed those papers, they would permanently lose all future benefits they could squeeze out of Yu Qi. From what she could see, Yu Qi was on her way to becoming a massive money tree, and Wang Fu Ya knew she could extort plenty of wealth from her if she played her cards right.

Even though Yu Qi could officially cut ties later on as an adult, Wang Fu Ya knew that outsiders would view her as an ungrateful child who abandoned her adoptive family the moment she found success. Of course, that rumor would only apply to people who didn't know the horrific truth of how the Wangs treated her, and Wang Fu Ya fully intended to weaponise public opinion.

"Don't even think about playing your little tricks with me," Grandpa Tang suddenly warned, his sharp voice cutting through the air as he caught the scheming expression flitting across Wang Fu Ya's face.

"If you refuse to sign it willingly right now, I will personally ensure you sign it later, and you will have to pay a heavy price in blood to do so." Grandpa Tang openly threatened the family, his tone dripping with malice.

The three Wang family members shivered violently when they heard Grandpa Tang mention a blood price. They knew instantly that something terrible would happen to them if they dared to reject his offer.

"I highly suggest you make the right decision here. Sign now, and you will walk away with the cash immediately."

"Where is the money then?" Madam Wang asked, her greed overriding her fear.

She wanted to see the physical cash first before she put pen to paper.

Grandpa Tang stood up without a word, walked out of the house, and strode over to his car. He signalled his driver to hand him a locked briefcase, then re-entered the house. He snapped the briefcase open, turning it around to reveal the contents to the Wang Family.

Seeing the massive stack of crisp banknotes laid out right in front of her, Madam Wang completely lost all hesitation. She eagerly grabbed the pen and signed the agreement on the dotted line without saying another word.

Grandpa Tang swiftly snatched the completed document from the table, closed his briefcase, and left the house without looking back.
