Chapter 85 - Chapter 85: Her Choice

Chui Mei Fung had already departed for Japan, where she would spend the next two years. As explicitly stated in the legal contract, she would stay there to learn all the inner workings and meticulous management skills required to run a traditional ryokan. With that matter successfully sorted out, Yu Qi could focus entirely on her own future.

A massive influx of university offer letters quickly flooded into the Godly Herbs shop, all of them addressed directly to Yu Qi. A multitude of prestigious universities were desperately trying to recruit her to enrol in their institutions. It was completely expected, considering she had secured the historic first-place rank in the entire nation.

Grandpa Tang came by to help Yu Qi organise and sort through the towering pile of offer letters. He was incredibly eager to ask Yu Qi about her final decision.

"Have you chosen the specific university which you want to enrol in yet?" Grandpa Tang asked curiously.

Of course, if he felt her choice wasn't prestigious enough, he fully intended to persuade her to change it for a much better one.

"Yes. I have chosen Starlight University." Yu Qi answered with absolute certainty.

Grandpa Tang nodded his head several times in approval. "Starlight University? Good. Very good indeed. And what is the exact course that you want to pursue there?"

"Of course, it's the medical course." Yu Qi smiled.

"Hahaha! Splendid! As expected of my brilliant granddaughter and star disciple!" Grandpa Tang bellowed happily.

He was absolutely ecstatic the moment he heard she wanted to formally study medicine.

"I have already replied to the offer letter from Starlight University," Yu Qi said, a sly, mischievous smile playing on her lips. "However, I wrote down my own set of strict conditions that they must fulfil if they want me to enrol in their university."

"Do you want me to help you negotiate with them? I happen to know the dean of the medical faculty personally." Grandpa Tang offered warmly.

"Hehehe... there is no need for that, grandfather. I want to rely entirely on my own power. I am completely confident that the university will agree to my conditions." Yu Qi refused gently.

This entire matter was firmly within her grasp, so there was really no need to trouble her grandfather.

Besides, if Starlight University chose not to agree to her terms, it would be their massive loss. After all, she was the hottest academic commodity in the country right now. Every single top-tier university was throwing out bait, trying their hardest to fish her in.

"Yes, my granddaughter is truly exceptionally clever." Grandpa Tang sang her praises proudly.

Yu Qi could only smile helplessly at his enthusiasm. Grandpa Tang really doted on her far more than he did on his own biological grandsons.

"Are you finished sorting these? Let's go then. Our daily medical lesson is about to start." Grandpa Tang said, instantly switching back into his master-disciple mood.

"Yes, Master!" Yu Qi replied playfully.

...

A few days later, Starlight University sent a formal letter replying to her conditions. While reading through the contents of the letter, a brilliant smile spread across Yu Qi's face. She was genuinely happy because the university administration had fully agreed to every single one of her terms.

Excited, she decided to share the wonderful news with Feng Yue. She immediately took a trip over to the Feng residence, with Aoi tagging along happily at her heels.

In a funny moment of déjà vu, she arrived to find Feng Yue right in the middle of a gruelling training session. Long Hui was standing a short distance away, silently and strictly watching his cousin train. The very moment Feng Yue lifted her sweaty face and spotted Yu Qi, her expression instantly transformed from utter despair into pure, unadulterated delight.

"Yu Qi is here!" Feng Yue shouted at the top of her lungs, immediately abandoning her workout to approach her friend.

While tightly grabbing Yu Qi's hand, Feng Yue leaned in and whispered in a frantic, low voice, "Thank you so much. You have truly saved your best friend's life today."

Yu Qi burst out laughing. She understood the exact meaning behind Feng Yue's dramatic words. She had effectively become her lifesaver, rescuing her from the terrifying grip of the Demon King, Long Hui.

From the exact moment Yu Qi had walked into his field of vision, Long Hui's eyes had not drifted away from her for even a fraction of a second. Although his handsome face maintained its usual stoic poker face, his intense gaze entirely betrayed his inner thoughts. He was secretly overjoyed that Yu Qi had come to the Feng House.

"Yu Qi, wait right here for me, okay? I need to go take a quick shower. My body absolutely stinks right now." Feng Yue said hurriedly before bolting away toward the house.

Sigh... Yu Qi could only watch Feng Yue's retreating back as she ran away as fast as her legs could carry her. She had successfully saved Feng Yue from the tiger's den, but now, the tiger had essentially turned into a lion, and she was left standing entirely alone right inside his territory.

"Hi." Long Hui said softly, approaching Yu Qi to greet his beloved.

"Hi." Yu Qi replied, nodding shyly to acknowledge his commanding presence.

"How have you been lately?" Long Hui started, initiating a gentle conversation.

"I am doing well. How about you?"

This simple, polite inquiry made Long Hui immensely happy inside. His beloved was actually making an effort to converse with him and keep the interaction going. How could he not be ecstatic about that?

"I am doing perfectly fine. I heard all about your exam results. A flawless, perfect score. That is simply amazing," Long Hui praised her genuinely, his voice filled with great pride.

"Thank you."

"So, have you already officially decided which university you want to enter for your further studies?" Long Hui asked warmly.

He secretly wanted to help her by pulling some strings and putting in a good word on her behalf to whatever university she desired.

"Yes. I have already made my final choice."

"Which university is it?"

"Starlight University."

Long Hui's eyes narrowed slightly for a few quiet seconds. Hearing that specific university name instantly filled him with tactical satisfaction. Not many ordinary citizens knew that Starlight University was secretly heavily associated with the military. This meant he could easily use his high-ranking military advantages to cross paths with Yu Qi and woo her much more effortlessly.

Yu Qi completely failed to catch the calculating gleam in his eyes because she was simply too flustered to look directly at Long Hui's striking face for long. Her eyes had only lingered on his features for a few seconds before she quickly looked away, blushing.

"It is an excellent university." Long Hui noted smoothly, already knowing the exact reason behind her decision. "Did you choose it primarily because of its advanced facilities?"

"Yes, exactly! I selected the Medical Course, and Starlight University easily has the absolute best facilities and resources for medical students." Yu Qi explained, her voice tinged with genuine excitement, the moment the topic turned to her passion for medicine.

Long Hui smiled warmly down at her. He had guessed entirely right. His beloved, whose intense interest in medicine was heavily influenced by Grandpa Tang, would naturally prioritise the best equipment available. And of course, Starlight University possessed the absolute finest medical facilities in the entire country, simply because the Military heavily funded and sponsored it.
