I stood there staring at her, not daring to say anything, my anger boiling just below the surface. I already knew that no matter what I would say she wouldn't believe me anyway.
"So what, now you're mute?" she let out a fake bitter sigh. She turned around and took two steps away. I released the breath I didn't know I was holding. But as usual my luck runs out and she turns around and grabs a handful of my hair.
"Aren't you going to say something?" She says.
Pain shoots through my scalp like electric pulses. I don't dare scream, I only grit my teeth as hard as I can and clasp my hands around her hand.
"Let go!" she screams as though I'm the one with her hair in my hands.
"That's enough Shelby." a familiar voice says. I glance up and see a strikingly handsome face with beautiful green eyes marked with pity. Blake.
Shelby froze. I wince when she whirls around dragging me with her by my hair. Losing my balance, I fall hard to my knees.
"Oh, Blake…" Shelby frowns.
"Let her go." He says again.
I stayed there kneeling on the ground with Shelby's fingers entangled in my hair. My eyes begin to water as I stare blankly at the ground. If I were to even look at any of the boys here, especially Blake it would only make my situation worse. She was always talking about how cute football players are to her group of friends, ( AKA: the Barbies). The Barbies are exactly how their names are; pretty and plastic, and airheads.
"You should let go of her hair and get back to class," he said, crossing his arms.
She scoffed and released my hair.
The stinging pain in my scalp subsides and my hair falls back into place but I don't dare breathe a sigh of relief.
"Oh Balkey, I was only playing with her."
I roll my eyes. "If this is playing I would hate to see what your abuse is like." I mumble to myself.
Shelby walks up to Blake stepping on my fingers for good measure, she places her hands on his shoulders and slowly runs them down to draw patterns on his chest frowning when he gives no reaction.
Blake pushes her hands away, "Go back to class Shelby."
"It's nice to see you again, Skylar." She says before taking off to her next class.
I listen to the clicking of her heels fading before standing and make my way down the hall towards the girl's bathrooms. Once inside I go into the last bathroom stall, lock it and rest my back against the big white and blue wall. Why did I ever think anything would be different?
I rest my aching head on my folded arms as I let the tears I had suppressed roll down my face.
After a while I opened the door and washed my hands and cleaned my face. Removing all traces of my tears. The bell rings signalling the end of class.
Great one down six more to go.
I sighed and stepped out of the bathroom.
Next class being Math room 210.
