Chapter 28 - 28 Fates Intertwined

His face revealed an annoyed look but stayed cold in her sight.

She did not bother a bit but she wanted to remove the awkwardness around them. The silence was screaming at them for five minutes when she started moving and looked at the night sky above the sea.

"You really are a romantic, Alexander." Jasmine's eyes turned dreamy as her heart fluttered endlessly.

The breeze sweeping her hair strands away from her face.

His eyes stared at her. He appreciates the beauty before him yet his mind and heart is fixed for that special person only.

Her eyes darted from the view to his face. She saw his indifferent eyes looking at her with a hint of no emotion.

She stared at him and smiled.

"I know you are pissed at your brother. I did not know you know each other..."

She paused and let out a sigh...

He let out an annoyed smirk.

"This woman must be stupid." His eyes fell as his expression changed from annoyance to frustration.

"Let alone be brothers."

Her expression turned friendly to ease the awkwardness around them.

He closed his eyes and taps his fingers on the table. He was annoyed with his brother since he was not interested with her. His brother came along and ruined it. He doesn't like her like the woman he laid his eyes for back in high school. She was off league compared to her. His mind flooded memories of her. She was the reason he works hard everyday being the best fit for her.

His eyes opened and scanned the place. It was bustling with people. Families were happily eating. Couples were on dates. The restaurant was full. It was a good night for the business. His eyes landed on Jasmine as she held that smile for him to see.

"I have to finish this as soon as possible." He thought as his eyes scanned her and the table before him. He straightened his back and looked at her directly. His eyes were cold as he stared at her.

"Don't take this the wrong way..." His voice was deep and cool.

Her eyes stared at him. She sensed the atmosphere dropped to -100 degrees as she blinked. Her heart thumped erratically as her cheeks turned pink.

"I can only take you as a friend." His voice reverberated like thunder to her ears.

Her heart felt disappointed and agony. She felt stabbed directly by her lover. Her eyes scanned his face. There was hurt in her eyes but a glint of challenge sparked in her heart. She will never stop until she gets what she wanted. Her lips turned upwards and looked at him as she puts her palm in her jaw and her elbow on the table.

"I don't think so." Her voice challenged his words.

His lips smirked. His eyebrow turned upward making him piqued his interest.

"I never knew women were that determined." His voice was cool but there was a hint of annoyance.

He stared at her deadpan.

"There is no point in trying." His voice turned colder as his eyes glared at her. He folded his arms as his jaw tightened.

She looked at him without a faze. She wont back down as long he does not have a ring on his fingers. Her face turned serious. A smirk forming in her lips as a playful tone escaped her mouth.

"Just watch me. I never back down from a challenge. It makes me excited thinking about it." Her eyes shimmered like the stars in the night as she crossed her legs and leaned forward.

Her mind went into a trance, imagining what it could have been if she met him earlier. They could have been happy and content; a life full of bliss and mirth. Her eyes focused on his as she radiated warmth.

"Tsk..." His voice was annoyed.

His eyes looked back at her.

"Persistence never exist..." He casually said and chuckled.

"I will endure for her." He muttered under his breath.

His voice seemed to crack but it was his conviction to love one woman that he laid eyes on. His mind devotedly focused on one woman only. His eyes focused on a space that made him play memories in his mind.

They heard footsteps approach them.

Jasmine turned her head as she saw the waiter with their orders.

Alexander's eyes landed on the waiter's tray.

The waiter started preparing the plates, the napkins, the silverware and glasses. They also brought Chateau Lafitte Rothschild Red Wine in a bucket of ice.

Jasmine's eyes lit up upon seeing the wine. She scanned the label until her senses came to her.

"This is...." She murmured while her eyes fixated on the bottle.

Alexander's eyes observed her. He was amused as his hand held his chin as his devoid look plastered in his face.

"That wine cost..." Her eyes lit up as she stared at the bottle as her lips pursed as she breathe another breath.

"Do you want a glass?" Alexander's tone reverberated in her ear that woke her from her reverie.

Her eyes darted from the wine to his face and nodded absent-mindedly.

He found her reaction funny that he hid his face and smiled while taking the wine and opening it.

A loud pop was heard when he smelled something.

"This isn't the wine. This perfume..." His mind trailed as he reminisce.

This perfume whiffed on his nose but he knew who it was. The smell of vanilla with floral notes like summer breeze, a familiar scent he knew from a long time ago. His mind went blank as his eyes searched each corner of the restaurant.

"She didn't change her scent." The mirth in his eyes was obvious.

"You're still you as if it was immortalized for me to remember." His thought was thrilling as if a puppy saw his master.

As his eyes searched, so was Jasmine's eyes noticed his actions. Her eyes slowly scanned around when a familiar figure appeared in her vision. Her eyes turned sour as her heart was pinched. She noticed that this person was with someone else. They were busy mingling with people on the other restaurant's patio.

She knew who it was.

"Alex..."

She was dressed on her floral dress with her locally made rattan sling bag. Her long brown wavy curls complimented her look. She had her skin white was a pearl while her simple makeup make her more beautiful that catches anyone's attention. She had a simple cat eye and ulta mascara on her lashes. She has a simple tint on her cheeks that matches her lips. She used Peri Ink in Genius Rosy Pink. It complimented her beauty, simple, charming and alluring. She used her perfume, Georgio Armani Si Eau de Parfum, on her neck and wrists. She was the epitome of a simple and classic beauty.

Her mind trailed off as her eyes darted from her to her companion. It was her friend.

"...Lea..."

Her mind piqued questions.

"Why are they here?"

Her heart was erratic since she knew that the guy she's having a date with likes Alex to the core. She was there and saw everything. She did not expect them to be here of all places. She was panicking. She coughed a little as his mind suddenly stared at her.

"Is there something wrong?" She casually asked as if she isnt aware of the situation. Her hands touching his left hand while his right is holding the wine. She showed him her left hand holding a glass for the wine.

His eyes noticed the wine and poured her a glass like nothing happened. He poured himself a glass as his mind went blank. He stared at the wine on his left thinking about the scent that lingered in his nostrils.

Jasmine's hand still on his hand as she sips the wine. Her throat moved gracefully that his eyes darted on her throat. Her eyes met his as if enticing him. His longing eyes moved on as if still searching for his love.

Jasmine's eyes felt hurt as if she does not exist in his eyes. Her heart started to ache but she endured as she hid it gracefully.

She gently squeezed his hand as her eyes was asking him what's wrong.

It surprised him a little and his stared at their hands. He was furious as he withdrew his hand away.

Jasmine was surprised but she did not react at all. Dejected, she was sad but she was still determined to fill his heart. A fiery blazed inside her. She's a fighter and won't back down for a man she sets her eyes on.

He calmed himself and focused on the dinner before them.

She stared at him while the atmosphere was awkward as she touched her food.

Beside the restaurant...

Lea convinced Alex to come with her and party while it's their summer break. Since they were best friends, she agreed to it. So they went into this bar and restaurant near Jasmine's date. She wanted to keep tabs on her remotely to know about her friend. As they entered the premises,

Suddenly, the next door bar and restaurant announced the start of the party on it's customers. People started screaming and rejoicing as they are pumped.

On the restaurant next door, Alexander's mouth twitched while Jasmine was annoyed.

The restaurant had a party on their beach side area with an infinity pool. A lot of party goers were there and there was a bonfire sitting on it's beach area. It was lively as the DJ spins his music on the loud speakers. As the beat starts, everybody started dancing.

Alex started dancing beside the bonfire with Lea. The warm breeze pass by them as her hair gently swayed with the breeze. As they both heard the song, Sunset Daze by Selfish, they stared at each other with excitement as this is one of their jam songs. They danced to it as they feel the sand on their toes. They both enjoyed the beat as the song finished.

The second song, Into You by Ariana Grande, started playing, they danced as partners as they spin each other around when a set of eyes were looking at those 2 girls. His eyes lingered passionately on one girl. He was on his sky blue polo shirt, beige shorts and sneakers. He wavered through the crowd as his eyes were locked on her. He approached them friendly when Alex noticed him. She nudges Lea as she pin points at the guy approaching them. Lea looks his way as she saw a man who was handsome and tall. Her heart was pounding while Alex remained calm. She squeezed Lea's hand for assurance when the man was a feet away from them.

"Hi, I'm James."

His deep voice made her look at him face to face.

Lea's eyes stared at his face while his eyes stared at Lea with fire in his eyes.

Alex was speechless on the scene before her while Lea was glued on his face. Alex noticed Lea's reaction when she lightly nudged her arm.

She came to her senses and look at James and smiled.

James heart fluttered while he smiled back at her.

The breeze pass them when she giggled. It was as sweet at as ice cream on a hot summer day. Her scent lingered on him. It was Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum by Channel.

He touched her hair as she stares at him dreamily.

"You're beautiful, Lea." His voice was cool but it sent love chills on her.

Alex noticed she was feeling out of the picture but she was happy for her friend. Out of the blue, she remembered that Lea has a date today.

She went near Lea and whispered to her, "Is he your date?"

Lea looked at her way and nodded.

"I am happy for you, Lea." She cheerfully said as she stared at Lea and James.

She excused herself to go on another location when a hand stopped her.

She looked back and saw Lea holding her hand while James is at her back.

"Join us. I want to know more about Lea's friends." James voice was welcoming and Lea chipped in.

"Please, Alex..." Lea pleaded.

Alex looked at the couple warmly.

"Sure." She smiled back at them.

She agreed to them and left the bar and restaurant and went to the beach to walk and spend time with the couple.

They shared short stories when James had an idea. He taps on his phone when his phone notified back and read a message. His eyes smiled and looked at Lea.

Lea stared at him and casually asked, "Is there something on my face?"

"No, I want you to meet my sister." James casually said.

"Uhm, sure." Lea was skeptical while Alex was unsure.

"Dont worry, she is thrilled to meet you." James reassured her.

They both agreed.

So they walked a little more until they reached the restaurant his sister said.

They spotted her from afar and waved back. They noticed a man facing his back at them.

The woman spotted them from a far and signaled them to come.

As they came close, Lea's eyes never left the woman whom she was very familiar from. Alex peeked behind the couple as she noticed Lea was acting weird.

She was surprised to know who it was.

Oh what a small world indeed.
