Shirley planted her face against Davis's chest, burying herself in his embrace as she held him with a plethora of emotions rocking her heart. She broke-down upon seeing him, taking deep breaths amidst her sobs.
"Where were you? I missed you so much~"
She wept, crying like a child as she didn't let him go and held him tightly.
Davis was momentarily taken aback before he realized that she was in a profound state of sadness. His Heart Intent could tell her emotions of sadness and longing were greater than the feeling of joy.
'This is… lovesickness…'
He carefully caressed her head and coddled her, "I'm sorry I wasn't here for you. No amount of excuses can describe or justify the emotions you felt while being away from me. I'm sorry, my love. I will be by your side. I'll hug you to sleep. Don't cry…"
He caressed her back, trying to stop her from crying.
