Eyes of the Eternal

In a realm beyond creation, every living being mortal or divine is bound to a single candle. When its flame fades, so too does the soul it represents.
One day, the Father, the god above all gods, makes a fatal mistake he accidentally snuffs out the candle of a young mortal. Realizing his error, the Father summons the lost soul before him a confused, ordinary man whose life ended before its time. Out of guilt and mercy, the Father offers him a choice to be reborn with limitless power and freedom, or to live a peaceful, forgotten life.
But the man refuses both.
Instead, he makes a single, impossible request to remain in the divine realm and watch over the mortal world. The Father denies it at first, for no human soul can endure the heavens. Yet, moved by pity, he commits the greatest taboo of all he takes a mortal as his disciple.
Now bound to the eternal heavens, the man becomes The Silent Witness an immortal observer of life, death, and divinity.
He watches as kingdoms rise and fall, as mortals love, sin, and perish unable to interfere, yet unable to look away.
In his silence, he will learn the truths that even gods fear to see.
