As the sun dipped below the mountain peak in a white haze of winter, leaving the bustling city bathed in the day's final glow, Hydefield City succumbed to an unexpected silence. It was as though a group of jovial friends had chosen, in unison, to become quiet as a party neared its conclusion.
At this time, in the sky above the city, air trains bound for the satellite city traveled back and forth on suspended tracks. On the streets, people who had worked all day drove their flying cars, merging into the flowing traffic. On the sidewalks, people proceeded in silence, the crowd gradually thinning, dispersing into Space City and residential areas to disappear from sight.
As the city grew quieter, the night grew darker.
