Chapter 14 - chapter 14 A Mother’s Last Embrace

In Ottar City, people were running in every direction, trying desperately to save their lives.

"Come here, quickly!"

"Please… help us!"

Screams filled the air. Fear and chaos had completely taken over the city.

Clown held the child tightly in his arms.

He pressed his face against the small body, as if trying to protect it from the cruel reality outside.

His entire body was trembling.

"No… no…"

His voice was weak… broken.

From outside, the screams of people and children kept growing louder.

Clown slowly stood up, his legs still shaking. Every step felt heavy.

He walked toward a nearby house that was still intact. It was completely empty—everyone had already fled.

He gently placed the child on the sofa.

For a moment, he just stood there, looking at the small, lifeless body.

Then he closed his eyes… and turned away.

"I'm sorry… I couldn't save you."

His chest felt heavy, as if something inside him had shattered.

Clown began walking toward the door.

"Tham…"

"Tham…"

"Tham…"

His footsteps echoed in the silent house.

Each step made him feel emptier.

He opened the gate… and stepped outside without looking back.

He moved toward the alley from where the screams were coming.

The closer he got, the louder the cries became.

"Mom…!"

"Dad…!"

The desperate voices mixed with the horrifying growls of monsters.

When Clown reached the corner of the alley—

He froze.

His body went still.

His eyes widened in shock.

His mind stopped working.

"W-what… is this…?"

His voice trembled.

What he saw in front of him was pure hell.

Monsters were everywhere—hungry, restless, tearing into people without mercy.

"AHHHH!"

"P-please… save me!"

"My child… someone save my child!"

Blood covered the streets, as if the ground itself had been painted red.

Police officers were guiding people toward bunkers.

"Come this way!"

"Hurry!"

Clown's mind filled with questions.

"W-what is this…?"

"Why…?"

His face had turned pale.

Right in front of him, Ottar City was collapsing.

Suddenly, a scream came from his left.

He turned.

A woman stood there—her clothes torn.

In her arms, she held a small baby, no more than eight months old.

She was arguing with a policeman.

"Let me into the bunker! Why won't you take us?!"

Her voice trembled with desperation and fear.

The policeman replied firmly,

"The bunker is already full.

The nearest one is on the other side. Please go there."

Hearing this, the woman grabbed his collar.

"You want me to go that far with my baby?!

If not me… at least take my child!"

Her voice broke as tears streamed down her face.

Suddenly—

She was pushed from behind.

"Ummh—!"

She fell forward, still protecting her baby.

Behind her stood a well-dressed woman, along with her husband and child, all clean and safe.

The woman brushed her hands and said coldly,

"People like you always try to push ahead."

She took out some money and threw it at her.

"Take this and leave."

Just then, another policeman ran over.

"Hello, Miss Sitters! Please come this way!"

Seeing this, the poor woman froze.

As if her mind couldn't process what was happening.

Clown, who had been watching everything, took a step forward—

But in the next moment—

A spray of blood splashed across his face.

His breath stopped.

His entire body went numb.

The air was filled with the strong smell of blood.

The woman—

Who had been fighting just moments ago to save her child—

Was suddenly attacked by multiple monsters.

"AAAHHHH!!"

Her scream echoed through the alley.

Her body was torn apart—

But at that exact moment—

"WAAAAA…!! WAAAAA…!!"

The baby started crying loudly.

The woman immediately turned, her eyes filled not with fear—

But with determination.

She pulled the baby closer, wrapping her arms tightly around it.

"No…! No…! Don't touch my child!!"

The monsters tore into her flesh.

Blood poured out.

But she didn't move back.

She held the baby tightly against her chest—

Using her own body as a shield.

"WAAAAA…!!"

The baby's cries echoed again and again.

Each cry made her hold on even tighter.

Even as her strength began to fade…

Her grip slowly weakened…

Her breathing grew slower…

But still—

She did not let go.

Not until the very end.

Then—

Her body went still.

Her hands slowly dropped.

Her life faded away.

"WAAAAA…!!"

The baby was still crying.

Alone.

Helpless.

And in the next moment—

The monsters turned toward it.

Blood spread across the ground, flowing like a dark river.

Clown stood there.

His eyes were open… but empty.

His mind had gone blank.

His fingers slowly curled into a fist.

But he didn't move.

He couldn't.

He just stood there—

Watching everything.
