The hospital room was unusually quiet.
William sat beside the bed while carefully wiping Thalia's hands with a warm towel.
Even though the nurses had already cleaned most of the blood earlier, he still kept wiping slowly as if afraid she would feel uncomfortable the moment she woke up.
His movements were much gentler than usual.
The sound of the heart monitor quietly echoed through the room.
Meanwhile, Tiara stood silently near the door, watching his back the entire time.
"If you couldn't even protect her…" Tiara muttered coldly, "why does she need to waste her time staying with you?"
William's movements halted instantly. The towel in his hand slowly tightened.
But he still didn't turn around.
Instead, he replied quietly, "Can I just have one more chance?"
His voice sounded much weaker than usual.
"If this happens again…" He swallowed hard, clearly struggling to even say the next words. "I promise… I'll leave her."
