The moon was bright, and the stars were sparse.

Inside the Soul Hunting Forest, the chirping of insects and the distant roars of Soul Beasts echoed, making Tang San feel quite uneasy. In the wild, sometimes an inconspicuous bug can be the thing that claims your life.

A professional hunting team would never continue their journey at a time like this.

Soon, Xiao Lin and the others reached a relatively open area, preparing to settle in for the night. Under the moonlight, this clearing allowed the group members to see one another, providing a sufficient sense of security.

At this moment, Tang San was busy scattering a specially made insect-repelling powder. Meanwhile, Shi Dan, a member of the hunting team, brought out the feces of powerful Soul Beasts, using the scent to deter other beasts from approaching.

Xiao Lin and Xiao Wu, however, leaned heartlessly against a large tree, accompanied by Sister Xiao Gui. Xiao Lin, whose survival experience existed only within his mind, felt deeply that his intellect was superior—though he was glad Tang San was there.

With Tang San around, he didn't have to worry about venomous insects or similar threats.

Xiao Lin glanced at Sister Xiao Gui leaning against the neighboring tree and thought back to Su Yuntao's words. Su Yuntao mentioned he had once seen an environment suitable for a Great Moonlight Spray Fungus, and they should arrive there by tomorrow at noon.

However, Xiao Lin suddenly realized that his planning had been incomplete.

The Great Moonlight Spray Fungus was an aquatic plant. If it lived at the bottom of a lake, how was Sister Xiao Gui supposed to kill it? And how would her Martial Soul absorb the soul ring underwater?

He couldn't exactly wait for the Great Moonlight Spray Fungus to spray out all its Moonlight Essence and exhaust itself to death. If the Soul Beast's cultivation level dropped because of that, Sister Xiao Gui would be at a loss.

This was Xiao Lin's first experiment in training a Food System Soul Master; he didn't want to give up on it. It looked like he would have to reveal a certain amount of his strength when the time came.

If Sister Xiao Gui uses my Horned Dragon Staff to kill the Great Moonlight Spray Fungus, does it still count as her kill? I need to think of other methods!

Meanwhile, on the other side of the Soul Hunting Forest.

Wang Fugui and his group were heading deep into the forest to search for that seven-hundred-year-old Bullet Bee. In the current dim, even pitch-black night, for Wang Fugui's group to still be searching deep within the forest was essentially a death wish.

Under the canopy of the towering trees, they couldn't see their surroundings clearly at all.

"Young Master Wang, we need to rest now. A Bullet Bee isn't that easy to find," A'Wei, the captain of the hunting team beside Wang Fugui, said softly.

"Fine then. But let's find a safer spot; I don't feel comfortable here."

Wang Fugui wasn't entirely stupid.

As a wealthy man, he valued his life.

Since entering the inner parts of the Soul Hunting Forest, he had felt a strange sensation.

Gloomy? Terrifying?

It was an indescribable feeling that made Wang Fugui very uneasy. However, considering the hunting team with him, he exhaled a breath of tension.

Even though that Su Yuntao guy had said the Bullet Bee was extremely dangerous and tried to stop him from looking for it—leading Wang Fugui to kick Su Yuntao out of the team—he had supplemented his group with another four-man team.

Now, he had two full hunting teams by his side.

Even if they encountered two Bullet Bees, it should be enough to kill them!

Thinking this, Wang Fugui, under the protection of the hunting teams, arrived in front of a tall palm tree.

"Young Master Wang, large trees like this are usually nesting grounds for bird-type Soul Beasts, making it easier to observe the ground below."

"Wait a moment, I'll have Chuan Kang go up to keep watch. I guarantee you'll have a peaceful night."

A'Wei was referring to an Agility Attack System Soul Grandmaster in his team. His Martial Soul was an Owl, allowing him to see as clearly at night as he could during the day.

Recalling Chuan Kang's abilities, Wang Fugui nodded with satisfaction and leaned against the palm tree, closing his heavy eyelids.

Having two hunting teams really was better.

It was a good thing he didn't bring that Su Yuntao.

Following three little brats—wouldn't that be pure suicide? To say those kids were stronger than him... Hah!

Shortly after, amidst these self-satisfied thoughts, Wang Fugui fell into a deep sleep.

"What's the plan now, Captain A'Wei?"

At this moment, seeing that Wang Fugui had fallen asleep, one of the hunting team members frowned and asked A'Wei.

If Wang Fugui had a strange feeling upon entering the depths of the forest, these stronger Soul Masters naturally felt it even more keenly. Especially A'Wei; he was the strongest, and as someone with a Beast Martial Soul, his perception was the sharpest.

In his days of making a living in the Soul Hunting Forest, he had developed a sort of premonition.

One could call it a sixth sense.

Sometimes, it was this very feeling that allowed him to rely on his weak Honey Badger Martial Soul to grow into a Rank 33 Soul Elder.

"Something is incredibly wrong. My instincts are screaming."

The corners of A'Wei's eyes twitched.

Even during his closest brush with death, he hadn't felt such a sense of discordance.

"Captain, it's more than just 'wrong,' it's disastrously wrong," a team member muttered.

Although the captain wasn't well-educated, the member highly respected his strength. Once his Martial Soul possessed him, A'Wei fought without fear of death, which gave the rest of the team more courage and room to deal damage.

A'Wei wasn't in the mood to force his teammate to agree with him. He simply glanced up at Chuan Kang, who had already merged with his Martial Soul atop the palm tree, and felt slightly more at ease.

With Chuan Kang's Martial Soul possession, he could see everything clearly even in the dark; nothing should go wrong.

A'Wei shook his head with a light smile, preparing to have half the team continue the watch while he went to rest so he could take the second half of the night shift.

Suddenly, a drop of lukewarm liquid landed on A'Wei. Stunned, he wondered: Is it raining?

As he reached up to wipe the "rain" from his face, the alarm bells in his body rang violently.

"Not good! Something's happening!"

"Honey Badger, strike!"

In an instant, A'Wei underwent Martial Soul possession.

His roar was loud enough to immediately startle the sleeping Wang Fugui awake.

It was only then that A'Wei realized the "rain" on his face was somewhat viscous and carried a faint scent of blood and rust. Quickly, the two hunting teams huddled together, standing back-to-back as they vigilantly scanned their surroundings.

"What's wrong, Captain A'Wei?!"

Just as Wang Fugui was about to stand up, a heavy object plummeted from above.

Thud!

Everyone turned to look.

The heavy object was none other than Chuan Kang, who was still in his Martial Soul possession state.

"Chuan Kang!"

Amidst the horrified shouts of A'Wei's team members, every face was etched with unease.

Chuan Kang had an Owl Martial Soul—how could he have died without even a chance to react?

There was a top-tier Soul Beast out there.

An assassin-type Soul Beast.

A'Wei had already formed a basic hypothesis, but he didn't dare examine Chuan Kang's cause of death right now. He was terrified that a single wrong move would lead to the total annihilation of the team.

He was a Rank 33 Soul Elder; the team's morale depended entirely on him.

"This is bad, Captain A'Wei. It looks like Chuan Kang died of suffocation."

As Chuan Kang died and the image of his Martial Soul possession faded, Wang Fugui—the only one with nothing to do—acted as the one to check the cause of death.

But this discovery made their souls nearly leave their bodies.

Cause of death: suffocation.

Killed in one hit.

An invisible enemy.

After spotting a massive needle-like puncture at the back of Chuan Kang's neck, Wang Fugui guessed the identity of the Soul Beast. His eyes widened, and he screamed in terror, his pupils trembling.

"It's the Bullet Bee! Everyone, watch out for its venom!"

The next second, under Wang Fugui's disbelieving gaze...

A greenish-black, slender giant bee, about half the height of a human, appeared silently before him. It had hideous insect mouthparts, massive blood-red compound eyes, six thick legs like spearheads, and a massive tail stinger that was as black as ink.

A memory of Su Yuntao advising him to give up flashed through Wang Fugui's mind.

The next second, a sharp pain pierced his chest, and then, he felt nothing at all.
