Chapter 11 - If You Leave, I’ll Follow

The words didn't leave the space between them.

They stayed there.

Like a rule the world hadn't agreed to yet.

"As long as she's here."

Shen Yichen's hand was still around Lin Yue's wrist.

Warm.

Certain.

Unmoving.

Lin Yue didn't pull away.

Not because she couldn't.

Because she was watching him.

Closely now.

Something about him had shifted too far from logic to ignore.

Lu Han stepped forward again.

"This isn't love," he said firmly.

Shen Yichen finally looked at him.

Slowly.

Coldly.

"I didn't say it was."

That answer made the air tighten.

Lin Yue's fingers moved slightly.

A small reaction.

Shen Yichen noticed immediately.

His gaze snapped back to her.

"Don't move away," he said quietly.

Not a command this time.

A request shaped like fear.

Lin Yue froze slightly.

"I didn't move," she replied softly.

A pause.

His grip loosened just a fraction.

Not letting go.

Just adjusting.

Like he was afraid she might disappear if he held too tightly.

Lu Han exhaled sharply.

"You're building attachment on fragments," he said.

Shen Yichen didn't look at him.

"I'm building it on what I feel."

That line hit differently.

Because it wasn't denial of truth.

It was rejection of it.

Lin Yue finally spoke.

"Feelings without memory aren't reliable."

Shen Yichen tilted his head slightly.

"I don't care."

Silence.

That was the problem.

He really didn't.

Not anymore.

He stepped closer again.

Now there was no distance left between them.

His voice lowered.

"If I lose memory again," he said quietly.

A pause.

"I'll find you again anyway."

Lin Yue's breath caught slightly.

"That doesn't make sense."

Shen Yichen's eyes stayed on hers.

"It doesn't need to."

A beat.

Then softer:

"You exist. That's enough."

Silence dropped instantly.

Even Lu Han went quiet for a second.

Because that wasn't logic anymore.

That was fixation becoming identity.

Lin Yue looked at him for a long moment.

"You don't even know who I am to you," she said.

Shen Yichen answered immediately.

"You're the person I don't want to forget again."

That sentence wasn't emotional.

It was final.

Like something inside him had already locked it in place.

Lu Han stepped forward sharply.

"You're going to destroy yourself chasing a memory that was erased for a reason."

Shen Yichen finally turned his head slightly.

Not fully.

Just enough.

"And I was destroyed when I forgot her," he said quietly.

Silence.

Lin Yue felt it then.

The shift.

This wasn't about recovering truth anymore.

It was about replacing it.

Shen Yichen's hand finally released her wrist.

Slowly.

But only to slide down and take her hand instead.

Fingers closing around hers.

Firm.

Certain.

Not forceful.

Claiming.

Lin Yue didn't pull away.

But her heartbeat changed.

Shen Yichen looked down at their joined hands.

Then back at her.

His voice softened slightly.

"If I don't remember you properly," he said.

A pause.

"I'll just make new memories with you."

Lin Yue blinked slightly.

"That's not how it works."

He nodded once.

"I know."

Then—

he tightened his hold just slightly.

"But I'm still going to do it."

Lu Han's expression darkened.

"This is obsession."

Shen Yichen didn't deny it.

Instead—

he looked at Lin Yue.

And said simply:

"Then let it be."

Silence fell again.

But this time—

it wasn't uncertainty.

It was decision.

And Lin Yue realized something then.

He wasn't trying to recover the past anymore.

He was trying to overwrite the future.

With her in it.

No matter what it cost.
