Chapter 26 - Volume 1: Chapter 26: The Carnage Field Arrives

"I'm back."

Sora returned home in two steps. Looking at the empty, dim living room, he exhaled softly.

Sure enough.

The well-behaved Sagiri who greeted me at the door yesterday was just a flash in the pan. I probably won't see her again, right?

Sora set down the shopping bags and turned on the lights.

Click.

As the lights illuminated the room, the girl's soft, sweet, and pleasant voice drifted into his ears.

"Nii-san, why are you coming back so late?"

"Sagiri?"

Sora turned his head in surprise, looking at the silver-haired loli sitting up from behind the sofa.

"Why are you in the living room?"

"To worry about Nii-san, of course." Sagiri put on her bunny slippers and walked over patter-patter. She leaned forward slightly, sniffing Sora up and down. A satisfied smile quickly appeared on her small face. "Nii-san doesn't smell like bad women today."

Sora was expressionless. "I'm sorry, I only smell like sweat."

"Ew, Nii-san is gross." Sagiri pinched her delicate nose and took half a step back. "Nii-san does smell like sweat... but it doesn't stink."

"Waiting for me in the living room again today... Did you have a nightmare again?"

Sora asked curiously.

"Umm..."

Sagiri's gaze wandered, and she looked away guiltily.

"That's right, I dreamed that Nii-san was taken away by ugly goblins today, so I was very worried about your safety. In the dream, Nii-san was a dual-wielding swordsman, and then..."

"That's enough, you don't need to say anymore."

The corner of Sora's mouth twitched. He completely had no desire to know the rest of the dream. He decisively opened the shopping bags and took out the snacks.

"Snacks I bought for you."

"Eh, they're all snacks I love to eat." Sagiri happily took the snacks, her eyes quickly curving into crescents. Her voice was delicate and cute. "Thank you, Nii-san~"

Sora carried the ingredients towards the kitchen.

"I came back a bit late today, so dinner will take a while. You go play in your room for now. Don't eat too many snacks."

"Nii-san still hasn't said what you did after school?"

Unexpectedly, Sagiri didn't head upstairs immediately. Instead, holding her snacks, she followed behind Sora.

"It's a secret."

"What kind of secret can't even be told to your most important little sister?"

"I'm sorry, a secret is a secret."

"...How irritating!"

Sagiri's pink cheeks puffed up quickly. She lifted her right foot and lightly kicked Sora's calf.

"Nii-san is so mean. Even though you've seen my most private place, you're actually keeping things from me..."

Hey, hey, don't speak nonsense! If someone hears that, I'll be sent to prison!

Sora was extremely speechless. "What did I see?"

You previously hid in your room refusing to come out, not letting me see you for days on end. I haven't seen anything at all, alright!

Sagiri's small face flushed red, and her voice grew shy.

"When Nii-san helped wash my clothes, you definitely saw my... p-panties, right?"

Sora couldn't help but retort, "If you're worried about them being seen, wash your own underwear from now on."

"Hmph~" Sagiri turned her head away and muttered quietly. "Nii-san has already seen them many times anyway, so I want to know everything about Nii-san too."

"...There's something wrong with you."

Sora quickly narrowed his eyes.

My stepsister in front of me is getting weirder and weirder. Could she also be a wild Witch?

But the game panel didn't pop up any notifications...

"I'm just worried about Nii-san, there's nothing wrong with me." Sagiri's gaze wandered. Of course, she couldn't reveal the secret of her second playthrough. "Anyway, Nii-san isn't allowed to do weird things with my panties."

"..."

Sora, with a dark expression, reached out both hands and pressed them onto Sagiri's shoulders.

"N-Nii-san?"

Sagiri subconsciously took half a step back, her back pressing against the wall.

Seeing Sora pressing close without a word, the girl's long eyelashes fluttered in panic.

(What is Nii-san going to do?)

(Is he going to kiss...)

(I-I'm not ready yet!)

The girl's small face quickly flushed crimson. She hurriedly closed her eyes, tilted her chin up slightly, and nervously awaited the first time in her life.

Then Sagiri felt herself being spun around, her feet involuntarily staggering two steps.

"Hurry back to your room." Sora exerted slight force with his hands, directly pushing Sagiri out of the kitchen. "Don't interfere with me preparing the meal."

Stomp, stomp, stomp.

Sagiri stamped her little feet in anger and embarrassment. "Nii-san really is a huge idiot!!!"

"..."

Having driven Sagiri away, Sora's ears finally found peace.

Sagiri has been a huge problem these past two days, it makes me worry...

Amidst his wandering thoughts, the phone in his pocket suddenly vibrated.

Sora took out his phone and saw a message from Yamada Elf:

"Servant, hurry and open the door, your package has arrived."

"Package?"

A question mark popped up above Sora's head.

When did I buy anything to be delivered? Why don't I know about it?

Yamada Elf: "Hurry and open the door to get your package."

Sora put his phone away in confusion, walked to the entryway, and opened the door.

A petite girl with waist-length blonde hair, wearing a long dress, stood outside the door. It was precisely Yamada Elf, and she indeed held a cardboard delivery box in her hands.

"Here, this is the package that was delivered this afternoon. I forgot to give it to Servant earlier." Elf handed the box over, her voice crisp. "Inside are the pants I bought for Servant. Try them on and see if the size and style fit."

"So it's pants." Sora reached out to take the package. "I didn't expect you to remember."

"Since I said I'd help buy pants, of course it's impossible for me to forget."

Elf put her hands on her hips and gave a smug snort. Not knowing what she remembered, a blush quietly rose on her small face.

"I accept the pants, you can go back now."

Sora raised a hand, ready to close the door.

"Wait, let me come in first."

With a flash, Elf swiftly slipped in through the gap in the door.

Sora raised an eyebrow. "What are you coming in for?"

"My body feels a bit off, it's an uncomfortable, suspended feeling..." Elf pursed her pink lips, an uncomfortable expression appearing on her small face. "It should be that the invisibility is almost at its limit."

"So of course I have to stay by Sora's side. When the ability reaches its limit, I'll have Sora help purify the magic power immediately."

Sora said speechlessly:

"You live right next door. Send a message, and I'll be over in two minutes. There's no need to be so nervous."

"No way." Elf quickly shook her head, her radiant blonde hair exceptionally dazzling under the lights. "This dress I'm wearing is my favorite piece of clothing. If it accidentally disappeared, I'd definitely be so upset I'd cry."

Sora felt a headache coming on, knowing he couldn't drive her away.

"Then play by yourself for a while, I'm going to prepare dinner... remember not to go upstairs."

"..."

Returning to the kitchen, Sora earnestly began preparing the meal. But not long after, the doorbell suddenly rang.

Elf was playing on her phone on the sofa. Hearing the noise, she stood up, forgetting she was still invisible.

"I'll go get the door."

At the same time.

A blue-haired girl stood outside the door, engaging in self-reflection.

"Anna, oh Anna, you can't drop your guard from now on. You've been so focused on eating, drinking, and having fun with new friends since school started that Sora is about to be snatched away by someone else..."

"Ehhhh? Why did the door open by itself?!"
