The time she never ignore
Shewta didn't love nights but also don't hate
She just didn't trust them
In the silence of night that feels too loud - like the night is waiting her to think that
And thinking about anything she avoid the most
She stayed awake every night
Not because she is studying, not because of scrolling, she was thinking something first time then she stop and start scrolling
Her room was dimly light by her phone screen , outside, the city , everyone fallen asleep - no voices no traffic ,only the noise of barking dogs
It was 1: 29 Am
Shewta didn't notice
Her fingers kept moving on the phone scrolling videos and sending text focusing on phone
Suddenly
Hmmm mmm
Her phone vibrated in her hand
She is confused ,
Call.....
Unknown caller id
She is starting the phone screen for a while
Who is calling at this time at 1:30
The phone stop running
Notification popper up as
Missed call
She didn't think much about that call at 1:30 Am
Probably spam or promotion call
She told herself
Or may be someone dialing wrong number
She locked her phone and turned to other side of bed
But she can't sleep
The Next night
•••••••••••••••••
The next night nothing was different
Same routine scrolling texting etc with same silence and sleepless nights
1:30 Am
She didn't notice ,
Phone vibrated
Hmmmm....
Her body reacted before her mind did this time
She immediately looked at her phone
Unknown caller id
That's .. weird
The call ended before she could decide whether to pick it
Notification popped up
Missed call
Shewta sat up alight now
Is it scary
Not yet
But it's strange
Two nights
Same time
Same number
She click on the number
No caller id
No name
No history
Nothing
Her fingers hovered over the call back option
Then she shook her head
Leave it
She locked her phone again
Tuned to others side of bed ...
But this time , the silence felt different like it was watching her ...
By the third night
••••••••••••••••••••
By the third night, she noticed the time.
1:29AM.
Her phone rested on her chest, screen glowing softly.
Her eyes kept shifting between the time and the empty notification bar.
1:29 Am
Her heartbeat felt slightly louder than usual.
"Why am I even waiting?" she whispered, annoyed at herself.
1:30 Am
Hmmmm
Her breath hitched.
Same number.
This time, she didn't ignore it.
Her finger hovered… then tapped.
Call connected.
For a moment, there was nothing.
Just silence.
But not the normal kind.
This silence had… presence.
Then—
Breathing.
Soft. Slow.
Not hers.
Shweta froze.
Her fingers tightened around the phone.
"Hello?" ....she said cautiously.
No response.
The breathing continued.
"Who is this?"
Still nothing.
A strange chill ran down her spine.
"Stop it, okay? If this is some prank—"
The call disconnected.
Shweta sat there for a long time.
Her room felt colder.
Smaller.
Quieter than before.
She checked the number again.
Same one.
No name.
No clue.
"This is stupid," she said out loud, trying to sound normal.
But her voice didn't sound convincing.
The next morning, she woke up late.
Her eyes burned from lack of sleep.
She grabbed her phone immediately.
No new notifications.
No messages.
Nothing.
For a moment, she wondered—
Did that even happen?
But the call log was still there.
1:30 AM.
Unknown number.
Unknown person
It's scary
3 nights in a row.
At college, she tried to act normal.
Her best friend Neha noticed anyway.
"You look like a zombie,
" Neha said, raising an eyebrow.
"Thanks."
"Late-night scrolling again?"
Shweta hesitated.
Then casually said, "Hey… what would you do if some unknown number kept calling you at the same time every night?"
Neha didn't even think.
"Block "
shweta laughed lightly. "That's it?"
"Yes?? What else?
Adopt the caller?"
Riya shook her head.
"It's just… weird. Same time. 1:30"
Neha paused.
"…Okay that's a little creepy."
"I know, right?"
"Did you pick up?
"shweta nodded.
"And?"
"…Nothing. Just breathing."
Neha stared at her.
"Yeah no. BLOCK IT. Right now."
Shweta smiled, but didn't reply.
Because for some reason…
She didn't want to block it.
That night, she didn't scroll.
She waited.
The room felt different again.
Like it was holding its breath.
1:29 am
Her fingers tightened around her phone.
1:30 Am
Hmmmm
The call came.
Right on time.
Her heart started racing.
But this time…
She answered immediately.
"Hello."
Silence.
Then—
"..... Shweta....
Her world stopped.
That voice.
Soft. Distant.
But familiar.
Too familiar.
Her throat went dry.
"How do you know my name?"
No answer.
Her heart pounded harder.
"Who are you?"
The breathing stopped.
For a second, it felt like the person on the other side was… thinking.
Then—
The call disconnected.
shweta didn't move.
Her phone slowly slipped from her hand onto the bed.
Her mind raced through faces.
Voices.
Memories.
That voice…
She had heard it before.
She was sure of it.
But from where?
That night, she didn't sleep at all.
Because for the first time—
She wasn't afraid of silence.
She was afraid of what might break it again.
Kya lgta h call kisne ki hogi !
