Chapter 16

Kieran's POV

I was driving home when I noticed Zane's car.

Parked.

Engine off.

That alone made me slow down.

I stopped.

And that was when I saw them.

Zane.

And Nathan.

Inside the car.

Zane's hand rested over Nathan's on the wheel. They were talking—about what, I couldn't hear.

Then his hand moved.

To Nathan's face.

Nathan closed his eyes.

My grip tightened on the steering wheel.

Zane's fingers traced slowly—his eyes… his nose… his lips.

I waited.

For Nathan to push him away.

To stop him.

He didn't.

He just… sat there.

Still.

Letting him.

Zane leaned in.

And Nathan didn't move.

Not even then.

I watched them kiss.

Watched Nathan lean into it.

Like he wanted it.

My hand tightened further.

Then—

I pressed the horn.

Sharp.

Loud.

It cut through everything.

They both jerked apart.

Nathan looked up—

and the moment his eyes met mine—

they widened.

Good.

I held his gaze.

Didn't look away.

Zane turned, his expression shifting.

"What the fuck—" I could see his mouth move.

Then he looked back at Nathan.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

Nathan nodded too quickly.

"I… I have to go," he said.

He got out of the car.

Zane followed immediately, calling his name.

Nathan didn't stop.

Of course he didn't.

I stayed in my car.

Watching.

Zane went after him.

I stepped out as well.

Tossed my keys to one of the servants without looking.

"Park it."

And walked into the house.

----

Nathan's POV

I walked upstairs quickly.

Too quickly.

I could hear Zane calling after me—

but I didn't stop.

I just kept going.

I had almost reached the end of the hall when—

a hand grabbed my arm.

I froze.

"Hey—what's wrong?" Zane asked, slightly out of breath. "Did I do something wrong?"

I looked at him.

Opened my mouth—

but nothing came out.

My chest felt tight.

"You can always tell me anything." he said suddenly.

But before I could answer—

"Nathan."

My body stiffened.

Mom.

I quickly pulled my arm from Zane's grip.

She was already walking toward us.

Her eyes moved from me—

to Zane.

And just like that—

her face lit up.

"Zane," she said warmly.

I instinctively stepped back.

"How are you, dear?" she asked, her tone soft, almost affectionate.

She didn't even look at me.

"I'm fine," Zane replied politely.

"Good," she said. "Are you here to see Kieran?"

He shook his head.

"No."

Then he glanced at me.

And my mother followed his gaze.

For a moment—

she actually looked at me.

Then something seemed to click.

"Oh—right," she said with a light laugh. "I completely forgot. Chris mentioned you'd be his driving instructor."

Her smile widened—

too much.

"I hope it's not too much trouble."

Zane shook his head again.

"No, it's not."

"You should stay for dinner," she said immediately.

Zane hesitated.

Looked at me.

I looked away.

"Sure," he said.

"Good," she smiled, already slipping her arm through his. "Come along."

She started leading him away.

Just like that.

Like I wasn't even there.

Zane looked back at me—

like he wanted me to say something.

Anything.

But I didn't.

I just turned—

and walked to my room.

----

Nathan's POV

I was in my room, lying on the bed, my mind tangled with everything that had happened.

What if Kieran does something crazy?

I groaned internally. He's sick in the head. But then again, he was the one who asked me to date him.

I tried to justify it. To make sense of it all. But it didn't work. My thoughts kept spiraling.

I don't want this to happen, I thought.

Then there was a knock at the door.

"Good evening, sir."

I looked up, finding Veronica standing there. I sighed.

"Good evening, Veronica," I replied, sitting up.

"Sir and madam want you downstairs for dinner," she said, her expression neutral.

"I'm not hungry, thanks," I replied quickly, hoping she'd just leave me alone.

But she didn't. Instead, she stood there.

"Sir said it's compulsory for you not to miss dinner," she added, not budging.

I stared at her for a moment, my frustration mounting.

Compulsory? Really?

"Fine. I'll be downstairs," I muttered.

She nodded and left without saying another word.

I slumped back against the pillows, staring at the ceiling.

God… I really don't want to sit across from Zane or Kieran. But I guess I don't have a choice.
