Chapter 2 - Covering up the evidence of murder

After a brief observation, Akikawa Sosuke increasingly realized that the current situation was unfavorable for him.

"The blood soaking the clothes is still bright red, which means the oxygen content in the blood is still very high…"

"Living reactions can also be clearly seen around the wound."

"It was indeed a death by knife wound."

The bright red blood meant that the blood had not been exposed to the air for too long.

And the living reactions near the wound also proved that the woman was still alive when she was attacked by the dagger.

Coupled with the locked car and the closed windows.

All of these undoubtedly raised the suspicion that the original owner was the murderer to the highest level.

"If the blood had started to turn black, or if rigor mortis had set in, there would still be room for manipulation. But now, this woman clearly just died not long ago. It's impossible to reduce my suspicion now…"

Blood turning black and rigor mortis setting in both indicate that the deceased has been dead for a sufficiently long time.

As long as the time of death of the deceased can be extended, or the time it takes for the police to discover the body can be delayed, then there can still be many possibilities for manipulation.

However, with the siren already heard, it was already a foregone conclusion that he would be considered the primary suspect.

"Since being suspected as the murderer is a foregone conclusion, what I need to do now is not to eliminate my suspicion as the murderer, but to make the evidence left at the crime scene insufficient to directly prove that I am the murderer."

Akikawa Sosuke looked at the woman's abdomen. The part of her clothes that wasn't soaked in blood had obvious marks because he had pushed the woman away with his blood-stained hand just now.

He extended his right hand and gently rubbed the woman's clothes beside him with his middle and index finger knuckles.

"Cotton clothes. In that case, I can cover my fingerprints with blood."

Fingerprint detection primarily detects oil and sweat on the fingers, while blood can largely cover the oil and sweat left on clothes.

The covering effect varies depending on the material of the clothes.

For absorbent materials like the cotton clothes the woman was wearing, once stained with blood, the original oil and sweat become difficult to detect.

Akikawa Sosuke carefully grasped the clothes with his fingerprints on them and pulled them to the wound, pressing down.

Immediately, fresh blood gushed from the wound, and that part of the clothes also became bright red.

In this way, everything, including Akikawa Sosuke's bloody palm print, was covered by fresh blood.

Akikawa Sosuke repeated this twice, completely soaking the parts of the woman's clothes with his blood-stained fingerprints in blood, then looked at the dagger plunged into the woman's abdomen.

"When I woke up just now, my hands were tightly gripping this dagger. It can basically be concluded that this is the murder weapon that caused the woman's death, but in this situation, there are simply no conditions to dispose of the murder weapon."

Regardless of whether the original owner killed this woman, as long as the police see this dagger that he touched with both hands, his situation will take a turn for the worse.

And now, there was no way to dispose of the murder weapon.

"If I can't hide the murder weapon, then I can only hide the traces of my touching the murder weapon."

Akikawa Sosuke once again grabbed the blood-stained hem of the woman's clothes from her abdomen and carefully wiped the dagger's hilt with the blood-soaked fabric.

As for why he didn't choose the part not soaked in blood, it was mainly because, under rudimentary conditions, it was impossible to completely remove fresh blood.

Many inexperienced murderers, thinking that as long as they wiped away the bloodstains, they could cover up the traces of the crime.

They, however, did not know that,

Even if bloodstains are completely wiped away with a cloth or tissue, there will still be "wiped" traces left behind.

As long as the Detective investigates bloodstains through the luminol reaction, attempts to conceal bloodstains will be exposed instantly.

After completely wiping the hilt with the blood from the clothes, Akikawa Sosuke once again carefully used the blood from the woman's abdomen to soak the clothes he had touched just now.

Of course, merely eliminating the traces of him touching the dagger's hilt was far from enough.

After all, any Detective with a brain, upon seeing the hilt covered in fresh blood, would guess that he was trying to cover fingerprints with blood.

"I must fundamentally sever my connection with this dagger."

Akikawa Sosuke carefully lifted the woman's top and examined the wounds on her abdomen and chest.

As Akikawa Sosuke expected.

He found that most of the wounds were not perpendicular to the woman's body, but rather angled towards his position in the passenger seat.

"Right-handed, huh?"

The driver's seat of this car was on the right. The wounds angled towards him, which perfectly matched the logic of a right-handed person attacking the woman.

Even experienced agents or assassins would find it difficult to conceal their dominant hand in an emergency situation.

Not to mention in a situation like the woman's current one, sitting in a car seat.

In this situation, trying to make the knife enter the woman's body perpendicularly was several times harder than when lying flat on the ground.

After identifying the dominant hand of the murderer who killed the woman, what needed to be done next was already very clear—

Akikawa Sosuke pressed his right hand firmly on the glove compartment opposite the seat, then raised his foot and stomped down hard on his right hand.

Along with a crisp "crack," excruciating pain shot straight to his brain.

Akikawa Sosuke endured it, not letting out a sound.

Because before he completed the final cleanup, he absolutely could not attract anyone.

If anyone discovered that his car was locked, everything would be for naught.

Akikawa Sosuke had no time to worry about his right hand, which was bent at an impossible angle. He forced himself to lean over and press the unlock button on the driver's side with his knuckles.

After hearing the sound of the car door locks disengaging, Akikawa Sosuke also relaxed instantly.

"Although there are countless ways for the car to be locked after the murderer commits the crime and leaves, with me as the primary suspect, the police will simply not consider that direction."

"Once this car is determined to have been in a 'locked room' state, then I really won't be able to explain myself."

After relaxing and slumping against the seat back, a sense of fatigue and dizziness overwhelmed Akikawa Sosuke's brain.

It was only then that Akikawa Sosuke realized.

Even though his spirit was extremely weak, his breathing rate and heart rate were still so fast that it startled him.

The sound of his violent heartbeat was exceptionally grating.

And amidst this "thump-thump" heartbeat, Akikawa Sosuke also caught the hum of the engine.

"I thought it was just dizziness from excessive blood loss. So it was carbon monoxide poisoning."

Akikawa Sosuke had only been focused on dealing with the traces of the original owner's crime, but he had completely overlooked another major threat that frequently occurs at car accident scenes—

Carbon monoxide poisoning caused by incomplete combustion of gasoline from a damaged engine.

But by the time he noticed this, he had already completely lost the ability to move his body further.

However, this situation did not cause Akikawa Sosuke the slightest panic.

Before his consciousness plunged into darkness, Akikawa Sosuke's lips moved slightly, uttering words as faint as a mosquito's buzz:

"Heaven helps me."
