Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 - The Eye of Death

"System, track the mission target."

[Mission target "Yinsen" location marked.]

A golden dot representing Yinsen instantly lit up on the mini-map. It showed he had already run quite a distance.

"Huh… that four-eyes actually has some skills."

Kai raised an eyebrow, slightly surprised.

That frail-looking NPC could move like this?

Could Yinsen actually be some hidden powerhouse?

[Warning! Mission target's vital signs are rapidly declining! Critical condition!]

[If the target dies, the mission will be considered failed!]

"…Alright, forget I said anything."

Under Tony's astonished gaze, the diamond pickaxe in Kai's hand vanished into thin air, replaced by a sleek, cold metal Beretta 93R.

"You're—"

"Wait for good news."

Before Tony could finish, Kai tossed out a line and dashed toward the marked location.

The moment he rushed out of the cave and turned the first corner, he ran straight into several heavily armed terrorists.

They froze for a split second at the sight of him—then immediately raised their weapons, black muzzles locking onto him.

"Hands up!"

"Drop your weapon!"

"Get down!"

"Don't move!"

The commands came in a chaotic mix of languages.

But Kai understood all of them perfectly.

Thanks to a setting he selected at the start—"Auto Translate"—the system converted all languages into one he could understand, and vice versa.

"So… should I move, or stay still?"

Kai sighed.

The terrorists hesitated, exchanging confused glances.

Clearly… they hadn't reached a consensus.

So they chose the simplest solution—

Eliminate the problem.

*Ratatatatatat—!*

Gunfire erupted as bullets poured toward Kai like a storm.

And yet—

Kai remained completely calm.

"Eye of Death."

In an instant—

The world slowed.

Time itself became thick and sluggish, as if caught in molasses.

Everything around him nearly froze.

Even the bullets—normally invisible to the naked eye—became clearly visible, crawling through the air like snails.

Only Kai moved freely within this frozen world.

His gaze swept across each enemy.

Bright red crosshair markers immediately appeared over their heads.

*Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!*

Four gunshots rang out almost simultaneously.

Before the terrorists could even scream, their foreheads exploded in bursts of blood.

They collapsed where they stood, still frozen in their firing stances.

[Skill: Eye of Death]

[Effect: Slows time. Allows manual target marking and rapid firing at all marked enemies. Includes bullet tracking, weak-point detection, temporary x-ray vision, unlimited ammo, and more.]

[Description: I have a plan… a damn good plan.]

"Tch. Trash mobs. Not even dropping EXP."

Kai clicked his tongue and moved on.

The commotion had clearly alerted more enemies—chaotic footsteps rushed toward him.

*Bang!*

A terrorist barely peeked around a corner—

—and had his head blown off in a flash.

The rest panicked and opened fire wildly!

Kai ducked behind a rock wall, calmly pulling out a flashbang.

He estimated their position, pulled the pin, and tossed it out.

*FLASH!*

A blinding burst of light exploded in the narrow corridor.

"AAARGH!"

The terrorists screamed, clutching their eyes—

—as if they'd just seen heaven.

*Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang—!*

A series of precise shots followed.

Soon, Kai pushed through to the end of the corridor—

—and finally found Yinsen.

Yinsen's condition… was not good.

He lay slumped against a sandbag, his face pale, several bullet wounds in his chest bleeding heavily.

Seeing Kai, he forced himself to shout:

"Be careful! It's an ambush!"

"Die!!"

Hidden terrorists immediately opened fire!

*Ratatatatata—!*

A storm of bullets rained down.

Kai reacted in a split second, performing a tactical roll into cover.

He glanced at the mini-map—

Red dots lit up everywhere, exposing every enemy position.

"Good thing this isn't an FPS… I'd be banned for this."

*Bang!*

A hidden terrorist dropped dead instantly.

"No—Johnny, I'll aven—"

*Bang!*

Another one fell mid-sentence, a neat hole in his forehead.

*Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang—!*

Gunfire echoed continuously.

Each shot meant another corpse hitting the ground.

No matter where they hid, how they moved—

Kai always found them.

And always—

shot them dead.

A terrifying realization dawned on the remaining terrorists:

It felt like… they were the ones surrounded.

"He's a demon…!"

Their morale shattered.

They turned and ran.

*Bang! Bang! Bang!*

Bodies dropped one after another.

Kai stepped out from cover, looking at the carnage.

His expression didn't change.

As a player—

his heart was colder than a fishmonger who'd been killing fish for decades.

"Don't move! Or I'll kill him!"

A voice suddenly came from the side.

Kai turned.

Yinsen was being held hostage by a bearded man, a pistol pressed tightly against his temple.

Clearly wary of Kai's marksmanship, the man hid completely behind Yinsen, using him as a shield.

The scene looked… oddly ridiculous.

A bulky man hiding behind a skinny scientist.

"D-don't worry about me…" Yinsen said weakly.

Kai said nothing.

If not for the mission, he might've considered shooting Yinsen first—removing the hostage entirely.

The bearded man noticed Kai's hesitation and smirked.

"If you don't want him to die—drop your weapon!"

"…Fine."

To his surprise, Kai complied.

He casually tossed the 93R onto the ground.

Seeing this, the man grinned viciously—

—and immediately turned the gun toward Kai.

"Hahaha! You idiot! Now di—"

*Bang!*

His laughter froze mid-breath.

A second Beretta 93R had appeared in Kai's left hand out of thin air.

The bearded man collapsed.

Dead.
