Chapter 2 - New World Hunt

Thudd…Swoshh!!! The rabbit was already in the air before Hikaru could blink . His body reacted on instinct, his grip tightened and the wooden sword cutting a sharp arc .

Thaaakkpp! The strike hit, but the nature's failure twisted in spiral mid-air. Swofff!! It straight off bounced from the blade and landed with a low growl.

It was fast-faster than any animal he faced before. The confidence to humble the natures failure slowly starts to diminish .

As the pace of the battle began to accelerate .Blows started to get heavier .The minutes felt like stretched hours. Every time Hikaru swung, the rabbit dodged swiftly. And every time the rabbit lunged, Hikaru could barely block by some seconds .

His arms were vibrating from the impact , packed with precision and heavy.

I can't keep this up, Hikaru thought as his lungs slowly began to give out. His vision also started blurring. The rabbit monster didn't tire .Instead, it grew more aggressive. It lunged, and this time, Hikaru's timing slipped. His foot caught a root, and he hit the dirt hard.

The air burst from his chest. He was down. He fell to his feet, scrambling to get up, but the rabbit was already coiling its legs for the final blow. Its dazzling eyes locked onto Hikaru's throat.

Then, in the absolute silence of the fairy forest , something unimaginable happened ... Pffftsss….brrrt!!! Hikaru froze. He just farted one of his loudest hit .Lost in the moment followed by a strange relief .

The rabbit froze out of confusion, too. Its nose twitched the ugliest reaction. And for a split second, the monster looked genuinely confused, its predatory rhythm broken by the sudden awkward sound. Or one could argue the smell played its part too good .

Now! Hikaru didn't waste the moment. He didn't use a fancy stance or a dojo move. He lunged forward from the ground and swung his wooden sword with a desperate, low arc aiming for a critical hit.

THWACK!!!. The sword landed a direct hit—right in the rabbit's long cherished balls , brutal yet damage friendly . " Even for a monster, that's gotta hurt."

The creature let out a high-pitched, distorted scream. It collapsed in the ground , curling into a ball of fur with pain and agony. It wasn't dead, but heaven knows it was definitely out of the fight ."Rest in peace to the rabbit's future children. Yes indeed....survival is a nasty business in a nasty world !"

Hikaru didn't wait. He scrambled to his feet, ignoring his shaking legs. He raised the wooden sword high and brought it down on the rabbit's skull with everything he had left.

CRACK.

The body jerked once or twice, then it went still after some time .

Whewwww!!!Silence returned to the forest.

Hikaru stood there, panting, his face turning a deep shade of red. He looked at the dead monster, then at his hands.

"That wasn't clean."

It wasn't the skill nor the fluke. A gross, lucky opportunity!!!The truth settled heavily in his chest. If that hadn't happened, he would be dead. He leaned against a tree and slid down to the ground.

A pause complimented with a awkward smile "...Right." Hikaru forced himself to stand.

"Survival first."
