Shi Lan made his way back home after the brief conversation with Bai Lianhua. In front of the house, Chang'e stood there, holding both her hands and pacing to and fro. The moment she heard steps, her head flew back.
And there he was. Wei Shi Lan was walking towards her house in the darkness, his gaze, calm and unreadable as always.
When he saw her outside, his steps slowed for a bit and he raised his gaze, soon spreading a warm smile on his face.
He got closer to Chang'e before saying,
"Were you out waiting for me, or your husband?"
Chang'e gave him a dark look.
"Were you out drinking, and sharing beds with the Flower Maidens?"
The corner of Shi Lan's lips curved cockily.
"Oh? Did you stay out here waiting, despite knowing that?"
She lowered her gaze and breathed deeply.
"I was worried about you. There's no telling what that man could do to you."
Shi Lan's eyes broadened slightly.
"You were worried about me?"
