The fire in the fireplace crackled softly, its warm glow reflecting across the room and casting shifting shadows over Teahyun's face. Usually, the sight of him sitting so comfortably with that familiar glass in hand would have made her smile, but tonight something about him felt different.
"What are you doing…?" she finally asked, breaking the silence.
Teahyun didn't answer immediately. He took another slow sip of his whiskey, his gaze remaining fixed on the flames dancing behind the glass of the fireplace. There was no playful smile on his lips, no teasing glint in his eyes, and none of the careless amusement that most people associated with him.
After a moment, he turned his head slightly, looking at He Lian from the corner of his eye.
