After finishing eating, Jiang Li sat quietly, his gaze drifting toward Shen Yu, who was already standing by the sink, washing the dishes. The soft sound of running water filled the apartment, steady and calm, yet for some reason, it made Jiang Li feel smaller, like he didn't quite belong in the moment unfolding before him.
Insignificant.
It wasn't like he hadn't offered. He had told Shen Yu that he would wash them, that he could at least do something, but Shen Yu had acted as if his words were nothing more than air—like they had never been said at all, like they held no weight.
So the only thing Jiang Li could do was sit there and watch his back.
Time passed slowly, stretching in a way that made every second feel heavier than it should have. Jiang Li didn't realize how long he had been staring until his eyes suddenly widened.
