The pitch black blade of the Ebonheart Sword stopped exactly one inch from the mutated boy's neck. It froze mid air as if it had struck an invisible wall of solid diamond.
Arthur grunted. His muscles strained against the sudden impossible resistance.
"What the..." Arthur muttered and his eyes narrowed.
The sky above the Mortal Domain did not just change color. It died. The dark rain filled clouds instantly evaporated. They were replaced by a sickening flat sterile grey void.
The ambient noise of the city was entirely muted. The crackling fires, the screaming civilians, and the rain hitting the cobblestones simply vanished.
And then, the gravity inverted.
