Chapter 62 - Chapter 62: Two Wakabas?

Chapter 62: Two Wakabas?

"The Progenitor is actually a reincarnated infant... how unexpected."

Potimas paced slowly toward them, his gaze lingering on Sophia for a long time.

"My Lord, how should we handle these two?" a soldier inquired.

"Vampires become a nuisance once they mature. Kill them directly. I will explain to Oka-chan that they were tragically killed as collateral damage in the crossfire."

He gave the order coldly, clearly intending to pull the problem up by its roots.

"Cough... cough..."

Merazophis struggled to crawl up from the ground, but the movement jarred his broken ribs, causing cold sweat to pour down his face. He looked up, glaring fiercely at Potimas, his voice chillingly steady:

"Don't you dare... lay a finger on the Young Lady!"

With those words, he dragged his mangled body in front of the others to act as a shield.

"Why protect her? She is a vampire, a blight upon this world," Potimas said, his eyes narrowing in genuine confusion.

"That is none of my concern. I promised... I would protect her."

"You cannot." Potimas shook his head and sighed, appearing almost regretful of such foolish behavior. "Die."

He raised a hand, and a magic circle manifested in the air. A powerful wind blade began to coalesce. Seeing this, Mera's pupils constricted.

Is this the end? It seems I could only go this far.

Even knowing death was certain, he puffed out his chest to meet the attack without fear.

Swish!

The wind blade howled through the air. Mera closed his eyes, a tragic, faint smile playing on his lips.

The next second!

Vroom!

A sudden sonic boom echoed through the hall. The wind blade vanished instantly, and Potimas's expression froze.

"Hiss—!"

"Which grandson of a bitch tried to ambush me?!"

A cold, feminine voice rang out abruptly in the cavernous hall. Two graceful, slender figures descended from above, landing firmly on the ground.

Wakaba?!

Two Wakabas?!

Looking at the two spider-girls who had landed simultaneously, Sophia was stunned. She was shocked to find that these beautiful girls looked exactly like her former classmate, Wakaba Hiiro. The only difference was their pure, flawless silver hair—more dazzling than anything in her past life.

But... why were there two of them? Did she have a twin sister? This was scientifically impossible!!!

"You bastard!"

Under Sophia's incredulous gaze, one of the "Wakabas" barked an insult and threw a punch straight at the dazed Potimas.

"You old freak! You nearly scratched my beautiful face! Shine!"

Her fist, carrying a terrifying gale, smashed directly into Potimas's head.

BOOM!!!

A massive explosion erupted, and a turbulent wave of energy rippled outward, sending the girls' long hair fluttering. When the dust settled, a crater ten meters long and a meter deep lay before them, surrounded by shattered masonry. Potimas lay at the bottom, half his body pulverized, revealing a metallic skeleton. It was a pathetic sight.

"This..."

Sophia's mouth fell open, her mind going completely blank. One punch. This transcendently powerful elven patriarch had been KO'd in a single punch? This was beyond ridiculous...

Zzt... zzt...

Potimas, his body sparking with electricity, struggled to support himself as he crawled out of the crater. Transparent, viscous blood leaked from his mouth as he stared calmly at Shirazawa.

"Strange creature... a spider? A subordinate of Ariel's? I have never seen such a monster... just who are you?"

Potimas questioned them in a low voice. Even though half his head was missing, it didn't seem to hinder his ability to speak.

"Tch!"

"Still not dead? This body is impressively sturdy," Shirazawa marveled. That punch would have punched clean through Araba's body, or even blown him apart. Yet this guy, despite being half-shredded, was still hopping around. He was harder to kill than a cockroach.

After tossing a Miracle Magic spell at the heavily bleeding Mera, Shiro stepped forward slowly to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Shirazawa, meeting Potimas's cold gaze.

Shirazawa, seems to be ineffective against this guy. I can't appraise his stats. Her brow furrowed slightly as she sent a telepathic message. It was her first time encountering a character that even Wisdom-sama couldn't see through; she felt things were getting tricky.

This is a product of old-world technology. It exists outside the System, so it can't be appraised, Shirazawa responded calmly, glancing at Potimas's mechanical shell.

Outside the System... Shiro murmured internally. No wonder.

Wait... didn't we grow mouths? Why are you still using to talk?

...That... um... I-I'm shy... Shiro's face flushed a delicate red, and she fidgeted with her fingers, unable to look Shirazawa in the eye.

"..."

Shirazawa almost forgot—Shiro's character trait was extreme social anxiety. He silently retracted his gaze. What a waste of such a beautiful voice.

Wait a minute! My voice is just as beautiful. Seriously, this old freak is lucky to even hear the great Shirazawa-sama's voice. He should die without regrets. Hmm... I shouldn't talk too much from now on either. Shiro's voice shouldn't be heard by just anyone.

Shirazawa's mind raced, secretly warning himself not to be as boisterous as before, lest he ruin Shiro's "vibe."

Be dignified! Be elegant!

"Hmph."

Potimas let out a cold snort. "Are you two mutes? I asked who you are."

Shirazawa: "..."

Shiro: "..."

Seeing the two spider-girls remaining silent, Potimas lost his patience. Whatever creatures they were, he would kill them and take them back for research.

"Anti-Magic Field, activate!"

In the next instant, Shirazawa felt a wave of alarm. A massive number of passive skills suddenly deactivated. His body felt sluggish, and movement became difficult, as if he had stepped into a swamp.

"Forced magic nullification... this barrier is even more exaggerated than the Demon Lord's Dragon Barrier."

Shirazawa frowned. He didn't understand why their specialty—magic—was always being countered by various barriers. Dammit, one of these days, he was going to make a "Grand Magic Enhancement Barrier" specifically to counter these magic-countering barriers.

"I am Potimas Harrifenas. I acknowledge your strength; you are worthy of being my enemies."

As he spoke, a crushing pressure washed over them, causing Shirazawa and Shiro's expressions to shift. Their auras were being suppressed.

"I will grant you a dignified death," Potimas said impassively, taking a step forward.

In the blink of an eye, he was right in front of them.

"So fast!!" (x2)

Both of them sucked in a breath. Their Super-Accelerated Thought kicked into overdrive. They simultaneously raised their hands and threw a combined punch.

BAM!

With a muffled groan, their figures were knocked back. But Potimas fared worse—blown back by their perfectly synchronized strike, his battered mechanical body looking even more pathetic.

"Is that it?"

Shirazawa raised a delicate eyebrow, a flash of disdain in his eyes. Even with most magic skills forced offline, their physical stats were no joke.

This punch contained two-and-a-half years of "hard work." Could he block it?

He could not!
