Chapter 2 - Chapter Two: Calm the Fear

Sea Circle Calendar 1506

As the first morning rays start to shine over the city of Water 7, you can see the lower city is flooded from the Aqua Laguna, but there is one building on the east side closest to the coast that is miraculously still standing in perfect condition. Caroline waking up checks on the two baby fish-man and sees them still sleeping peacefully slowly closes the door and heads downstairs to make breakfast, but as she steps in the kitchen she remembers about the storm.

" How could I ever forget such a thing. Curse my old age pushing 95 this year and now my memory finally decides to start failing me just like my strength. How are we still alive?"

She heads outside to see how it is possible and when she checks around the house she can see footprints dug deep into the mud on the side of the house where the tsunami would have came from.

From her experience out on sea only someone with really powerful haki/devil fruit/sword skills or a fishman with high skill in fish-man karate could of constantly broke apart those waves around the house for the entire night.

"The babies must have a guardian angel on there side."

She already planned to sell the land because there would have been no more berries this year after repairing the orphanage again. So we can stay here until the next Aqua Laguna but once its destroyed we will have to figure it out from there.

" Now I wish i didn't tell that crooked bastard that i would sell. He has been trying to buy this place for 30 years he's gonna be a headache."

Going back into the house she starts to make breakfast just toast for her and she blends up fruit to give to the little ones. "I've never raised fish-men before but i heard they grow up way faster and have 10x strength of humans at same age so starting food early should be okay."

Heading upstairs to go get both of them she can hear crying from the other side of the door. Speeding up to open the door she is welcomed to electricity erratically going all over the place and the baby girl crying. Seeing the electricity coming off the boy she assumes " he must be scared in the darkness not hearing his mama or feeling her touch and how to control this yet."

Bracing herself she walks over to him getting shocked here and there. She scoops him up into a hug and with a soft motherly voice starts to sing " Up in the sky so high and bright. Mommy's moon shines through the night. A silver smile soft and wide, watching over you from the sky. Even if she's far away, her love still lights your sleepy way. The moon she sends to say I'm near. To guard your dreams and calm your fear. Good night. Mommy's moon glowing above, shining down with a mother's love. Wrapped in stars so soft and soon you fall asleep by mommy moon. Your blanket's warm, the room is still. The night is soft upon the hill. But look outside that gentle light. It's mommy's kiss to say good night. Good night. Mommy's moon glowing above. Shining down with a mother's love. Wrapped in stars so soft and soon you fall asleep by mom's moon."

After hearing and feeling her warmth Sven calmed down and the electricity became gentle to the touch. With Sven calm Jewels also stopped crying. Picking both of them up she brought them to the bathroom and turned on the water. Unwrapping them from there blankets and plopping them in the water they started to swim around with such happiness and can hear little cooing sounds coming from Jewels.

Looking at the two stones that feel out of the blankets she picked them up and seeing the two names on the back couldn't help but smile. "So your names are Sven and Jewels, such lovely names.

Once she seen the water change color she grabbed them both from the water and tried to dried them off but they both started crying. After draining the water and refilling it she put them back in so they can have there fun. After about 30 mins " You both can't just live in the tub. Hoo hoo!"

Grabbing them both from the tub wrapping them back up, takes them downstairs to eat and start the day. Seeing them eat with such bliss brought a smile to her face. "Oh how i wish they didn't have to grow up and can just stay small forever." After eating thinking of what to do next decides to grab one of the books from the bookshelf and can't help but smile as she reads the cover Noland the Liar. "I still can't believe those sky islands actually existed no wonder why he was called a liar." As she read the book to the two little ones she couldn't help but giggle because Sven kept exploring her face with his electricity. " I wonder if that's how he sees and is mapping out the world around him."

Having finished the book brought it back to put on the bookshelf. She went to the fireplace to start it up then got cozy in her rocking chair. With Sven on one side and Jewels on the other arm with a blanket draped across her lap started to rock back and forth and tell them the stories of when she traveled the seas. She know this would help them learn the language and also she just loved to reminisce about the old days when she was a terror on the seas. (Hoo hoo!)

When she finished her last tale for the day she noticed that they both passed out sleeping so peacefully." I'm glad you both showed up because nurturing the next generation is my dream and retirement doesn't look good on me." (Heh-heh Kha-khaaahkaff!)

With a smirk "Showed that brat Garp that he was wrong in saying a brute like you can't raise kids with his stupid laugh Bwahaha."

Bringing both of them upstairs to put them on the bed to sleep. With a grimace she went to the bathroom to check the damage, taking off the knitted long sleeve shirt that one of the girls she raised made for her about 12 years ago. There were multiple holes with scorch marks around them. Seeing her upper body burned all through out and especially her arms that took the brunt of the damage. After applying an ointment and bandaging them all up went to get a new shirt. Going back to her rocking chair with the long sleeve shirt, she spent the rest of the night fixing up all the holes, as the embers of the fire crackled in the background. She couldn't help but start to hum Bink's Sake as it carried off into the nights sky through the window as she worked away. With a yawn she takes off her glasses to rub her eyes and gets up to go check on the little ones before heading to bed herself.
