Chapter 26 - CHAPTER 26:The coming darkness

Rudhran stood frozen in shock.

After everything that had happened… how was it even possible? How could he have been there? The very sight of the sorcerer at that place made no sense.

Parivendhan and Parthiban exchanged a glance before speaking in haste.

"It's best if we end this here," they said. "We've already told you more than we should. From here on… it's better if you don't try to learn anything further."

Their words came out in a rush, as if they were trying to bury the truth itself.

Rudhran frowned, confusion clouding his mind."What happened to you both? You were explaining everything so clearly until now. Why are you suddenly hiding things from me? Just tell me that much!"

Parthiban stepped forward, his voice calmer this time.

"First, listen to me, Rudhra. Your mind is filled with countless questions. Not just this—there are many doubts troubling you. I know that well."

He paused, then continued:

"But the answers you seek… time itself will reveal them."

Those words marked the end of the conversation.

Though unease lingered within him, Rudhran chose not to pursue the matter any further. Without another word, he turned and walked away in silence.

Later, unable to shake his doubts, Rudhran sought out the sage.

"Revered one," he asked, "the life I live now… will my next birth follow the same path? Will the same events unfold again?"

The sage smiled faintly.

"Not entirely. Some things may remain the same, but many will change. There is always the possibility of unexpected outcomes. That is why you must remain cautious."

Then his tone grew firm.

"Listen carefully. The trials you faced have come to an end. From now on, do not burden your heart with unnecessary worries. You are destined for greatness—a name, a legacy, a beautiful family, and a peaceful life."

He continued:

"You will sit upon the throne of a vast empire. Rule justly. Protect your people. Let your thoughts be devoted only to their well-being."

From that day onward, Rudhran followed the sage's words.

He ruled his land with care and wisdom. The storms of his past faded away, replaced by a deep, unshakable peace. With his wife and child by his side, he began to live a life filled with happiness.

Parivendhan, Parthiban, and the people of Zimbara eventually returned to their homeland. The people of Gandharva Desa bid them farewell with warmth and joy. Soon, they too found peace in their own land.

One evening, Rudhran stood atop the palace terrace, gazing at his vast empire.

Ponni approached him with a gentle smile."Are you admiring the beauty of your great kingdom?"

Rudhran nodded.

"Yes… seeing this peaceful empire from here fills my heart with calm. But I wish for this peace to last forever. I don't want any harm to come to my people."

Ponni's voice softened.

"From now on, your life will move only toward peace. Do not trouble your heart with needless worries."

And so, happiness continued to bloom in his life.

The name Rudhra Senan became one that inspired awe across lands. The very mention of Gandharva Desa struck fear into enemies.

Soon, a grand celebration was announced—the naming ceremony of Rudhran's daughter.

The palace courtyard was filled with people.

Standing on the royal balcony alongside Ponni, Alli, the sages, and his companions, Rudhran lifted his child into the air.

"My beloved people of Gandharva Desa," he declared, his voice echoing across the crowd, "it gives me great joy to announce the name of our princess."

He paused.

"The princess of Gandharva Desa shall be known as… Kanagavathi!"

"Kanagavathi! Kanagavathi!" the crowd roared in unison, showering flowers in celebration.

The entire kingdom rejoiced.

But far from the celebrations…

Parthiban and Parivendhan were restless.

Sleep eluded them.

Visions haunted their minds—Two blood-soaked swords…Warriors falling one after another…A great city consumed by flames…Fire raging through the streets like a living beast…The throne itself burning…

And a voice echoed endlessly:

"I will not rest until everything turns to ashes… We await the fall of the throne…"

The images felt too real.

Too familiar.

"What are these visions?" they wondered. "Are they memories… or warnings?"

Days later, a message arrived at Rudhran's palace.

A chilling message.

"Your death… will soon be carried out by my hands."

Parthiban took the letter and examined it closely. The moment he saw the seal, his expression changed.

Shock.

Fear.

Recognition.

Rudhran turned to him."Do you know who sent this? Who would dare send such a message?"

Parthiban's voice dropped to a whisper.

"The King of Shadows…"
