Chapter 17 - An Unacceptable Truth

"Exchange Peter?"

"What nonsense are you talking about?!"

Harry exploded in anger, nearly rushing forward.

If he didn't know Sora Yukihara could kill him at any moment, he might have already attacked.

Sora Yukihara sneered. "Go ask your father."

Harry clenched his teeth. "Tell me the truth. Otherwise—even if you kill me, I won't go with you."

"I don't need you to go willingly."

Sora Yukihara didn't bother arguing. Threads shot out again, wrapping Harry up like a bundle in seconds. Then—

He took off into the air.

"Ah—!"

Harry panicked.

From beginning to end, he had no idea what Sora Yukihara was using.

The unknown terrified him.

Smack!

Sora Yukihara slapped him.

Harry instantly quieted down.

Pulling him closer, Sora Yukihara warned coldly, "Kid, my patience is limited."

Regaining some composure, Harry asked, "Tell me what's going on. Peter is my only friend—why would my father target him?"

Sora Yukihara laughed mockingly. "You don't even know what your father has done?"

Harry shook his head.

Sora Yukihara said flatly, "Peter's father discovered your father was dealing with terrorists. He stopped the research and tried to escape with the data."

"And your father killed him."

"Impossible!"

Harry couldn't accept it.

Even if he hated Norman—

He couldn't believe he was a villain.

Sora Yukihara ignored his reaction and continued, "Before he died, Peter's father left the most critical information to Peter. Your father found out. When he couldn't steal it, he kidnapped him instead."

"And after getting what he wanted—he still didn't let him go. He even used Peter as a test subject."

"No…"

"My father wouldn't do that!"

"Peter… Peter will be fine!"

Sora Yukihara's words shattered his world.

Harry struggled weakly, feeling invisible restraints binding him tightly.

Sora Yukihara said nothing more.

He simply flew toward Oscorp.

After a long silence—

Harry finally spoke.

"…Is it all true?"

Sora Yukihara didn't bother answering such a pointless question.

"…How is Peter?"

"That's something you should ask your father."

Sora Yukihara answered this one, then added coldly, "What happens next depends entirely on Peter's condition."

"If he's dead—your entire family dies with him."

"If he's permanently damaged—same outcome."

Harry forced a bitter smile. "Didn't expect Peter to mean so much to you."

"Not that he's important."

Sora Yukihara looked at him indifferently. "It's just that you're worthless."

"In my eyes, the value you and your father provide isn't even half of Peter's."

Harry retorted stubbornly, "Whatever Peter can do, I can do too. And I have things he doesn't—like wealth."

Sora Yukihara laughed. "Peter can be my subordinate."

"And you?"

Harry fell silent.

His pride would never allow that.

Sora Yukihara continued mercilessly, "Even if you begged to join me, I'd still have to watch my back in case you bite me someday."

Harry said nothing more.

And Sora Yukihara enjoyed the silence.

Inside the Osborn family mansion—

Crash!

A crystal glass shattered violently on the floor.

Norman Osborn—

Who was supposed to be bedridden—

Stood there full of energy, his expression twisted with rage.

"Who did this?!"

"Who?!"

"Did you receive any ransom demands?!"

He glared at his guards. "I pay you a fortune—not to bring me bad news!"

His voice turned cold. "You have one day."

"If Harry isn't found within a day—you'll become my next test subjects."

The guards fell silent in fear.

But one man stepped forward.

A scar-faced guard.

"Mr. Osborn, we may have signed contracts—but we work for you. We're not your dogs. You have no right to restrict our freedom, let alone use us as experiments."

"Is that so?"

Norman smiled coldly. "Carly, teach him a lesson."

Carly.

Oscorp's artificial intelligence system.

One of Norman's creations.

Suddenly—

The guard's forearm began to glow.

"Ah—! It's burning!"

He screamed.

Boom!

The arm exploded.

Blood sprayed everywhere.

The other guards froze in horror.

Norman sneered. "You think I didn't prepare for this?"

"The moment you signed the contract and had chips implanted in your bodies—you became my dogs."

"I decide what you do."

"Now—drag this useless trash out."

The guards hurriedly carried the screaming man away.

"Magnificent. Truly magnificent."

A sudden clap echoed through the room.

Norman turned sharply.

A figure stood there—silent, unfamiliar.

The remaining guards immediately raised their guns, shielding Norman.

"Stop right there! Hands up—or we shoot!"

Sora Yukihara stepped out from the shadows, walking slowly toward the window.

Then he said lazily—

"Norman… tell your dogs to shut up."

"Or I can't guarantee your precious son's safety."
