The older woman reached over and patted my cheek before she stood up, her touch gentle and almost tender as she nodded and gave me that small grain of encouragement, softening some of what I felt about her after what had happened.

Whether she knew what was happening or not, Yao Meirong standing up after patting me on the cheek gave me a very nice view of one of the motivating pieces in regards to my current future, and that was just how damn fine this woman was at her old age.
