Chapter 15 - Boggarts and Patronus

When Harry and Buckbeak landed everyone was clapping and cheering for Harry, Draco turned to the side and saw Lyra beaming as she cheered along, the hot rage that bubbled in his chest made his hands shake.

He started to strut forward shoving whoever was in his way to the side "You're not dangerous at all are you, you great ugly brute" he walked right up to the Hippogriff and turned smirking at the others behind him but when his eyes locked on Lyra's he paused at the horror in her eyes.

Buckbeak reared slashing his talons downwards catching Draco and sending him to the floor, the other students screamed as they all move in case the Hippogriff went feral "Buckbeak! Woah Buckbeak!" Hagrid scolded the Hippogriff and threw a ferret to the side "Away you silly creature!"

Lyra rushed forward the moment Buckbeak left to retrieve his food, sliding to the ground she looked Draco over seeing the three claw marks slashed into his arm "It's killed me! It's killed me!" Draco whimpered as he clutched his arm with his eyes closed tightly.

"You're going to be fine Dragon" she whispered and his eyes popped open, grey clashing with silver.

"I'm going to die"

"Calm down, it's just a scratch" Hagrid walked over looking more then a little panicked.

"Hagrid! He has to be taken to the hospital" Hermione walked closer as the others stayed back.

Hagrid nodded "I'm the teacher, i'll do it" the half giant bent down and picked up the whimpering Malfoy boy "Class dismissed"

"You're going to regret this!" Draco grumbled feeling light headed "You and your bloody chicken"

~~~
The golden trio were watching Draco go on and on about his 'wound' "Look at him, laying on thick isn't he?" Ronald snarled glaring at Draco who was lapping up all the attention he was receiving.
"At least Hagrid didn't get fired" Harry looked up from his book and Lyra's stomach flipped when he locked eyes with her, he'd been getting healthier but she'd started to notice it more recently.
"I hear Draco's father is furious, we haven't heard the end of this" Hermione took her eyes off the blonde to look at her friends in warning just as Lyra forced herself to lower her eyes from Harry's.
"He's been sighted! He's been sighted!" Seamus run into the hall and slammed down the daily profit.
"Who?" Ron demanded.
"Sirius Black!" Seamus pointed at the paper, Lyra forced herself not to startle as almost every pair of eyes looked her way, not long left and they would all see, Hermione slid up the bench and took the paper to read it.
"Duff town! That's not far from here" she looked at Lyra who nodded.
"You don't think he'd come to Hogwarts, do you?" Neville's voice trembled from his fear.
Dean Tomas scoffed "With dementors at every entrance?"
"Dementors?" Seamus asked "He's already escaped them once who's to say he won't do it again"
"That's right...Black can be anywhere, it's like trying to catch smoke, like trying to catch smoke with your bare hands" Bem another Gryffindor guy stated and Lyra grimaced as she stood.
"Excuse me" she left quickly not allowing Hermione, Harry or Ron the chance to follow as she ran from the hall towards the forest, she found a small clearing and sat down pulling her transfiguration homework out to complete it.
Not even half an hour later she heard twigs snapping and leaves rustling to her left with her enhanced hearing she knew it was moving on four legs, instead of panicking she waited patiently and it paid off because the large black dog slowly walked out. It lowered itself to the ground looking at her with wide eyes as it rested it's head on it's paws taking her in inch for inch "Hello" she smiled "It's you again"
The 'dog' army crawled a few paces closer before stopping again as if she was scared of his approach, she opened her bag and pulled out the meal she had packed under statistics for this exact reason "Here, it's not much because from the look of you, you haven't had a good meal for a while so it's light food to help prepare your stomach for larger meals" she was rambling she knew it but she felt he needed this, he didn't seem ready to come out of his shifted state.
She opened the pot of warm broth based soup with a thin slice of bread, grabbing a stick she non-verbally turned it into a bowl and filled it with water "Well come closer then, i won't bite"
The 'dog' shuffled closer not lifted his stomach from the ground as he did so, when he was close enough she moved the two bowls closer to him and watched as he started to eat, while he did so she continued to do her homework pretending not to notice when he moved closer to her "You should drink more" the 'dog' huffed and she chuckled "Drink, now"
He barked gently but started drinking the water half heartily "That wasn't so bad now was it?" she smirked when the 'dog' snorted and kicked the bowl over spilling whatever was left "Temper, temper" she tutted and shook her finger back and forth "Is that anyway of thanking the one who fed you?"
The 'dog' leaped forward licking her cheek before he started to rub his head over her face making her laugh "Alright, alright, you are very welcome" she held him back gently, running her fingers through his fur she hummed under her breath "Have you found the small lake by here?"
The 'dog' just tilted his head and she nodded packing her bag back up which made him whine "Follow me" she took off further into the woods moving towards the lake, the 'dog' had practically glued himself to her side eyes darting over the forest as if keeping an eye out for danger.
"It's safe in these parts, this is where i come when i need to be alone or when i'm practicing spells above my year" she waved at the lake "Well? In you go" the 'dog' took two steps back and she tutted "In you get, you're filthy" she moved behind him and started shunting him towards the water "Oh stop being a big baby and get in"
The 'dog' whined but jumped into the water she looked down at her shoes and sighed but took them off along with her socks, when they were tucked away she walked into the water up to her knees and started combing through the 'dogs' fur until all the dirt and tangles were out "There! All done" the moment the words left her the 'dog' leaped out of the water and shook himself off.
"So dramatic" Lyra rolled her eyes before running a drying and then a warming spell over the both herself and the 'dog' "I best be getting back before it gets too late but i'll come back tomorrow" the 'dog' whined and pressed his head against her stomach, she knelt down and wrapped her arms around his neck, she felt him relax against her almost completely.
"I swear i will be back tomorrow, i'll bring more broth and water maybe a mixture of fruits i think, i'm not sure what will be good for your stomach...Maybe i can ask Hagrid he should know...But i'll be back" she kissed the side of his head and stood "Be safe, if you need anything i'm sure Hagrid would take you in, he lives that way in a hut, by the pumpkin patch"
She stood but froze "Oh and be careful there are dementors at every entrance of the castle and hovering on the grounds" the 'dog' growled making her hum "Yes they are awful creatures but don't worry they won't be here for long, they'll be leaving empty handed i'm afraid...Well i best be off Goodbye!"
When Sirius had caught the scent of his daughter he had moved before his mind had caught up, her scent had changed, developed, matured but it was the same. She still smelt of dark cherry but now it mixed with the scent of coffee and something floral but even with the changes he knew her scent from anyone else's.
He ran towards her wondering why she was out in the forest, he hadn't even thought of how she'd feel if he was to leap from the trees but when the thought passed he slowed dramatically as he slunk from the trees and froze.
He'd know his daughter face anywhere, she had changed, grown but she was...Perfect. He lowered himself to the ground so he didn't scare her but also to help centre himself as he took her in, her curls fell in perfect spirals some of it pulled back out of her face, the colour as dark as his own even in the setting sunlight behind her he saw how dark they were. Her eyes were the same shocking silver as they were the day she was born only now they seemed older not just because of the makeup making her lashes darker but also from life with Walburga he guessed.
Her skin was tanned making a few freckles shine on her cheeks, she looked well looked after, not malnourished and he couldn't see any wounds or scars on her but he knew she'd never be given marks seen by the eye as it would destroy any marriage contracts, the thought alone made him want to puke.
"Hello" she smiled and his stomach settled instead it was his chest that warmed "It's you again" she spoke softly, more softly then he'd expected and all he wanted to do was take her into his arms and run away, take her away from here, Harry too.
Soon.
Lyra found herself in DADA, the moment she had entered the room Remus had locked onto her, his eyes tracking her movements as she took her seat. After the start of the class he told them all they were going to be doing a practical class instead of theory so they were asked to stand while he moved all the desk to either side of the room with magic.
Remus brought in a wardrobe with an old mirror etched onto it's face side, they all stood around watching as the wooden mirror shook "Intriguing isn't it? Would anyone like to Venture a guess as to what is inside?"
"That's a boggart that is" Dean stared at the wardrobe.
"Very good Mr. Tomas, now can anybody tell me what a boggart looks like?"
"No one knows" Hermione stated from beside her making Lyra startle gently, she knew the girl was skipping in time but it still made her jumpy when she just appeared out of seemingly no where. The whole thing was so confusing because theoretically she wouldn't be appearing out of no where, there'd just be another Granger elsewhere in the building, both would be going about their classes so this whole popping up made no sense but hey what she was doing there also made no sense so she just waved it off.
"When did she get here" Ron frowned but was ignored.
"Boggarts are shape shifters, they take the shape of whatever a particular person fears the most, that's what makes them so..."
"So terrifying, yes, yes, yes...Luckily a very simple charm exists to repel a boggart, does anyone know which charm it is?" Lupin turned back to the class.
"Riddikulus" she met eyes with Lupin who smiled and nodded.
"That is correct Miss Black, well done...Let's practice it now without wands please, after me Riddikulus!"
"Riddikulus" the class parroted.
"Very good, a little louder very clear listen, Riddikulus"
"Riddikulus" they repeated once more but louder as instructed.
"Very good, well so much for the easy part. You see the incantation alone is not enough what really finishes a boggart is laughter you need to force it to assume a shape you find truly amusing...Let me explain, Neville would you join me please? Come on don't be shy, come on"
Neville hesitantly walked up to the front to stand with Remus "Neville what frightens you most of all?" Remus asked with a kind smile.
"Professor Snape" a few of the students chuckled while Lyra remained flat faced.
"Professor Snape. Yes, frightens all and i believe you live with your grandmother?"
"Yes but i don't want it turning into her either" Neville stammered.
"No, it won't. I need you to picture her clothes, only her clothes, very clearly, in your mind"
"She carries a red handbag"
"We don't need to hear, as long as you see it we'll see it, now when i open that wardrobe, here's what i want you to do" he whispered to Neville who looked stunned "Can you do that? Yes, wand at the ready, one, two, three" With a wand flick the wardrobe was unlocked and it opened, Snape was staring at them as he climbed out of the wardrobe, it was uncanny.
"Riddikulus!" Neville yelled and Snape's familiar black robes transformed into an old woman's outfit, it was truly disturbing, there was a stuffed cat acting as a scarf around his neck while a dead bird rested on the hat on his head. Snape's figured looked very confused when the room burst out into laughter.
"Wonderful, wonderful, to the back Neville everyone form a line..." Remus chuckled as they all got into line, there was pushing and shoving as the others were excited. Excited to see their biggest fear? Didn't sound too appeasing to her but she stood in the line. Lyra had tried to fall behind Harry so she wouldn't have to go but the boy had smiled at her and gestured for her to take the space in front, she didn't have an excuse so she took it unwillingly.
"I want everyone to picture the thing they fear the very most and turn it into something funny, next! Ron!" Ron slowly walked forward "Concentrate, face your fear, be brave"
Snape's form shifted until a huge black widow was left in it's place, it walked towards Ron who gulped but he preformed the spell and the spider then had skates on and couldn't get it's balance making the room laugh.
"Yes! You see? Very good, very good!" Remus grinned "Seamus you next"
Seamus walked forward and the spider stilled before shifting, they all paused seeing a woman, she had very long black hair that looked greasy to the eyes and her skin was a gross sickly green colour. It wasn't until she opened her mouth and began wailing that they knew it was a banshee, Seamus lifted his wand and after the charm the banshees hands came up to grip her throat as her voice was gone.
"Very good! Pavarti" Remus laughed along with the rest of them.
The Gryffindor girl looked like she wanted to hide but she kept walking forward and the banshees hands dropped as she took the girl in, her form shifted and a large king cobra was left behind hissing at the girl, but moments later she had turned it into a clown jack in the box.
"Very good! Next, step up Lyra" Remus grinned largely as she strutted forward, the clown was spooky, it's eyes were almost cloudy white. She had no idea what it was going to turn into but she was ready as she tightened her grip on her wand.
The clown bobbed back and forth as it shifted but the next second the whole wardrobe was on fire. Hot, bright orange flames licked the floor in front of her and she stilled for a moment watching the flames then somewhere within the fire a bright yellow flash was sighted...The kind of yellow that could only be produced by a strong Crucio...
"HELP!" A girls scream echoed through the room making her take several scared steps backwards and she felt sick when she realised it was her own voice screaming for help from within the fire, she lifted her wand with a sneer "Riddikulus!" she yelled and the fire was winked out of existence.
The room held it's breath as the only thing left behind was a single howler, they were all confused as to why this was her funny piece...That was until it opened itself.
"RONALD WEASLEY! HOW DARE YOU STEAL THAT CAR!" it howled and the room erupted into deep belly laughter as the Weasley boy blushed forgetting almost entirely about the fire, she shifted back toward the back of the room. She was afraid of fire, of burning alive. She was afraid of dying how her first mother did...She was also afraid of torture, one fear for each of her lives she guessed, how very divergent of her but no way was she going to start going by the name two.
A cold hand gently took her own and her head snapped up but she calmed seeing it was only Draco, the howlers screaming had stopped and she looked to the front seeing a dementor...Remus moved in front of Harry and the dementor quickly took the form of a full moon but Remus was quick to transform it into a balloon losing air. The balloon flittered around the room until he spelled it into the wardrobe and locked it up.
"Right well sorry about that, that's enough for today, if you'd all like to collect your books from the back, erh five points to all who participated, that is the end of the lesson thank you! Sorry!" Remus apologised when a few whined at not being able to have a turn.
He caught her eye and the apology in his eyes was clear as day but she sent him a winning smile and turned grabbing Hermione's arm she pulled her friend out "You should tuck that away" Lyra whispered and Hermione gasped looking down to the the time turner was hanging out.
She was quick to stuff it under her jumper and turn to Lyra was panicked eyes "Lyra..."
"I won't tell a soul, i already knew" she shrugged and pulled her along to their next class.
~~~

"Remember, these visits to Hogsmeade Village are a privilege, should your behaviour reflect poorly on the school in any way that privilege shall not be extended again, no permission form signed no visiting the village that's the rule Potter" McGonagall stated when Harry moved towards her.

"All those with permission follow me, those without stay put" Filch smirked and started walking, the others followed him but Lyra stayed put.

"But professor i though if you sighed it, then i could" Harry attempted.

"I can't only a parent or guardian can sign, since i am neither it would be inappropriate...I'm sorry Potter, that's my final word" She shook her head, McGonagall walked passed the trio waiting for Harry who turned to them.

"Forget about it guys, see you later" Harry looked depressed.

"Harry!" Lyra called when he turned away she jogged up to him when he turned she pulled him into a hug "I swear not long now, come Christmas i will take you to Gringotts and we will get an inheritance test done, it will tell you who your magical guardian is right now and they can sign it, or you can ask Dumbledore"

The Potter boy squeezed her gently and nodded "Thanks Lyra"

"I'll grab you something while i'm there" she pulled back with a grin "You should talk to Professor Lupin"

~~~
"Honeyduke's sweetshop is brilliant but nothing beats Zonko's Joke Shop" Ron informed Harry who looked slightly put out, he held a sneakoscope in one hand while the other held a bag filled with little goods Lyra had purchased for him "We never did get a chance to go to the Shrieking Shack, you heard it's the most..."
"The most haunted building in Britain, yeah i know" Harry answered and she snickered, he was so sassy "What's going on?"
There was a crowd forming in front of the portrait for Gryffindor "Probably Neville's forgotten the password again" Ron rolled his eyes.
"Hey!" a voice from behind them sounded and they all turned seeing Neville.
"Oh, you're there" Ron grinned and Lyra shared a smirk with Seamus who she'd moved to stand beside.
"You know what's happening then?" she asked the Irish boy.
Seamus just shook his head "Not a clue"
"Let me through please, Excuse me i'm head boy!" Percy's voice rang out and she snorted gently "Get back all of you, no one is to enter this dormitory until it has been fully searched"
"The fat lady, she's gone!" Ginny joined them looking around at the other paintings.
 Ron smirked when they saw the long slashes on the canvas "Serves her right, she was a terrible singer"
"It's not funny Ron" Hermione scolded him, not long after Dumbledore came rushing passed them all towards the portrait.
"Mr Filch? Round up the ghosts, tell them to search every painting in the castle to find the Fat Lady" he ordered.
"There's no need for ghosts Professor, the Fat Lady is there" the crowd moved towards where he pointed but Lyra stayed right where she was knowing this could go one of a few ways for her and she wasn't looking forward to whichever it were to be...
"Lyra?" Hermione whispered drawing her attention from where she stared up at the enchanted ceiling of the great hall, they were all given sleeping bags as the school was under lock down "How do you feel?"
"I'm alright Mi, things are just changing" she smiled "But thank you"
~~~

The November full moon came and went, she had snuck into the hospital wing and had left a small gift basket, her trip to Hogsmeade a few days prior allowed her to stock up on some comfort supplies for Remus for the up coming months. She didn't leave behind a note or anything just because she didn't want to worry him or make him think he'd need to act differently now that she knew.

The prior two full moons had luckily landed on a weekend but this time he hadn't gotten very lucky. However that also meant that Snape would be taking over their lesson...As if conjured by her thoughts the door was thrown open and he walked inside robe billowing out behind him as if he was flying.

Along the way he closed all the wooden covers on the windows allowing darkness to take over the room, he then pulled down the little screen projector they had before turning to address the room "Turn to page 394"

"Excuse me sir, where's Professor Lupin?" Harry leant over Seamus to ask the Professor who was walking down the isle.

"That's not really your concern is it Potter? Suffice it to say your Professor finds himself incapable of teaching...At the present time, turn to page 394"

Ron frowned when his book was spelled open to the right page in answer to his bored and slow flicking of pages "Werewolves?"

"But sir? We've only just started learning about Red caps and Hinkypunks, we're not meant to start that in weeks" Hermione stated having popped up in the empty seat beside Lyra making the Black heir jump slightly once again.

"Quiet...Now which one of you can tell me the difference between an Animagus and a werewolf?" Snape questioned and Hermione raised her hand "No one? How disappointing"

"Please sir, an Animagus is a wizard who elects to turn into an animal, a werewolf has no choice...With each full moon when he transforms he no longer remembers who he is, he'd kill his best friend if he crossed he's path. The werewolf only responds to the call of it's own kind" Hermione answered the question Lyra grinned when Draco's howl echoed through the room.

"Thank you Mr. Malfoy...That is the second time you've spoken out of term Miss Granger are you incapable of restraining yourself or do you take pride in being a insufferable know it all?"

"He's got a point you know" Lyra snapped her head to the side sending a bone chilling glare at Ron who was whispering to Harry because while Snape had been correct on the fact Hermione did speak out of turn, to address that in front of their classmates was not fair. Hermione however did need to learn some level of restraint, while having the knowledge was great and no one would question that Hermione was the brightest witch of her age. There was always a time and place, constantly jumping the gun would not make people warm to her and that is what Lyra knew Hermione wanted, to belong, to prove she could.

"Five points from Gryffindor, as an antidote to your ignorance and on my desk Monday morning, two rolls of parchment on the werewolf with emphasis on recognising it"

The room broke out into groans "Sir it's quidditch tomorrow"

"Then i suggest you take extra care tomorrow Potter, loss of limb will not excuse you...Page 394! The term werewolf is a contraction of the Anglo-Saxon word 'Wer' which means 'man' and wolf, werewolf, man-wolf. There are several ways to become a werewolf they include being given the power of shapeshifting, being bitten by a werewolf..."

~~~
Lyra glared from where she sat in the sub box, being on the sub team was fine and all but when she didn't get to play and was made to stay in the rain on the bench...It sucked.
They wasn't even playing Slytherin even though this was the first game of the year, which was the first time that had happened in...Well probably the start of time, Slytherin claimed it was Draco's arm but she knew it was just because they didn't want to play in the heavy rain pour so instead Hufflepuff took their place.
They all cringed when Alicia Spinnet's broom got hit by lightening and caught alight sending the girl spiralling quickly to the ground a whistle went off "Black! You're in" Wood yelled from his perch by the hoops she had barely heard him but she flew up into the game which restarted the second she entered the pitch.
It was a fucking joke, the first real game she gets to play in they won't even win, it filled her with anger which lead to her ignoring the weather and catching the quaffle roughly in her hands.
"Black catches the quaffle from Johnson and she is gone!" Jordan yelled but she just ignored it and spun by the hoops, the rainwater on her broom was disturbed and flew into the Hufflepuff's face, in that split moment she threw the quaffle and it soared through the hoop while the keeper was blinded.
"10 points to Gryffindor!"
"Sorry!" she grinned as she flew off after the quaffle which was snapped up by a Hufflepuff chaser.
Lyra noticed both seekers leaving the sight of the game having seen the snitch but she shook it off and got into the game, Oliver blocked the shot from a Hufflepuff and Katie Bell caught the quaffle. The three of them headed to the hoops as fast as they could "Black" she glanced to the right and caught the quaffle that was thrown to her, the two older girls switched sides and then they all flew in different directions to the hoops in hopes of distracting the keeper which worked as they focused mainly on Johnson leaving the far left hoop free for Lyra.
"Another 10 points for Gryffindor! 30- 80 to Gryffindor" Jordan yelled happily but Lyra knew it wouldn't last.
And Lyra had been right because soon Cedric Diggory came falling out of the sky like some beautiful drowned angel, Madam Hooch caught the boy and had started to get him to the hospital wing. Lyra however was combing the skies for Harry and it wasn't long before his body came tumbling down, she left it to Dumbledore to catch him and the old man did indeed leave it a good while but catching him before Harry could hit the ground.
The game had been called to an end when Madam Hooch found the snitch in Cedric's hand, the Hufflepuff boy when hearing about what had happened had claimed that he wanted a rematch not believing they won fairly however the Gryffindor team took the loss even if Oliver Wood was actually crying about doing so.
"He looks a bit peaky doesn't he?" Ron asked the room of players who were stood around Harry in the hospital wing.
"Peaky? What did you expect he fell over 100 feet" Fred scoffed.
George nodded "Yeah come on Ron let's walk you off a tower and see what you look like"
"Probably a right sight better then he normally does" they all turned hearing Harry's whisper, the boy weakly opened his eyes and pushed himself to sit up.
"How are you feeling?" Lyra sat on the side of the bed after having dried off her quidditch clothes.
"Oh brilliant" He sent her a weak smile.
"You gave us a right scare" George sat in the seat beside the bed as Lyra handed Harry a cup of Pumpkin juice.
"What happened?"
"Well you fell off your broom" Ron was clutching the large parcel with him seeing as he was the one who lost the rock-paper-scissors game they had played to see who would have to break the news.
 "Really?" Harrys sassed "I meant the game, who won?"
They all fell silent "Erm, no one blames you Harry" Hermione answered after seeing how they all avoided eye contact with the Potter boy "The dementors aren't meant to be on the grounds, Dumbledore's furious, after he saved you he sent them straight off" she elbowed Ron who jolted.
"There's something else you should know too Harry, when you fell your broom sort of blew into the Whomping Willow and...Well..." he held up a piece of what used to be Harry's broomstick, they sat with Harry for a while trying to cheer him up before Madam Pomfrey ushered them out.
~~~

Christmas break came and Lyra stayed for a few extra days, she had helped Harry get permission from Dumbledore to leave the castle for one day to go to Gringotts, it had been hard but the headmaster had given in after a while when Lyra made it very clear they would not be leaving the office without his permission. She lead Harry into the Goblin bank and walked to the front waiting to be seen.

After a few moments the Goblin looked up at them "Hello, we'd like an Inheritance test done please"

"Blordak will take you" he sneered and pointed to another Goblin.

"Thank you for your time" Lyra smiled and pulled Harry by his hand to the other Goblin "Hello we'd like an Inheritance test done please"

The goblin sighed putting down his pen "This way" he lead them to a office "The test is 11 galleons"

"That is fine you can charge it to my vault" she nodded shushing when Harry went to argue, the goblin slapped a piece of paper onto the table.

"It will need 10 drops of blood" he looked at the two young students waiting for them to back out but Harry took the knife and cut into his hand allowing 10 drops of blood to fall onto the parchment, he looked shocked when his hand started to heal.

"It's enchanted" she smiled waiting for the blood to move on the parchment and move it did.

"What does this all mean?" Harry stared at the writing.

"Here" she leant closer and pointed "All the Lordship and Heir means is when you turn 17 you will become head of House Potter, the inheritance here, shows what houses or manors you can move into when you are 17"

"I have a house?"

"It looks like you have two manors and a cottage but it says that the cottage isn't habitable, however i'm sure if you wanted too you could have it repaired, the vaults is simply how many galleons you have and lastly it looks like your magical guardian is Dumbledore for the time being"

"What does it mean though?"

"It means he can sign your Hogsmeade slip and when you hit 17 you have somewhere to live, you will probably have house elves at the manors so they will most likely be ready to live in but we won't know until you visit" she grinned "The Peverell acceptance just means when you reach 17 the Peverell family magic will reach out to you and if it approves you will become it's heir, that one was surprising to me seeing how the Peverell name died out decades ago but like i said with the Prewett line, it can be brought back but you don't need to worry about that right now"

"Thank you Lyra"

She waved it off "Oh it was nothing"

"No seriously, thank you" Harry took her hand and squeezed it.

"You're more then welcome Harry, come let's head back and see if we can see Hogsmeade before we are due back" she grinned thanking the goblin along the way.

Dumbledore had not be impressed at all when the two teens had asked him to sign Harry's permission form when they were back in the castle, he was even more unimpressed when Harry said he knew that the headmaster was his temporary guardian and could in fact sign the paper.

Dumbledore had stated that him being 'headmaster' meant he couldn't in fact sign it and had waved the two teens out of his office, it was odd and had put Lyra on edge not fully understanding but she pulled Harry on as she apologised. She froze on the spot for dramatic effect and Harry turned to look at her with a frown but he recognised the look on her face and moved closer to her "Oh how wonderful! You will be able to go to Hogsmeade" she grinned.

"How?"

"Try going by cloak Harry and the rest will be answered for you" she chuckled with a big smile pulling him along.

~~~
"Lyra we were planning on going to the Shrieking Shack did you want to join us?" Hermione stood side by side with Ron.
"Oh no thank you, i need to get a few bits but you guys go on without me and if i'm done before you i'll meet you there" she grinned and the pair nodded before walking off, Lyra moved to Honeydukes buying even more chocolate for the full moons and a few treats for herself.
"Blimey, you haven't already gotten through all the chocolate you brought last time have you?" Seamus looked wide eyed at her selection as she passed the correct amount of galleons over to the cashier.
"I haven't but these are a gift for someone" she chuckled and threw a bag of Pepper imps "Can you open those for me Seamus?" she shrunk the bag of chocolate and place them in her pocket with an added chilling charm so they didn't melt.
The boy broke the bag open while she was busy and threw one in his mouth before handing the bag back when her hands were free "Gift for who?" his words were licked with a few fiery embers from the sweets.
"No one you know" she smirked popping a Pepper imp in her mouth and ignoring the steam coming from their ears, most of it was covered from the grey beanie over her head, Seamus had a matching hat but it was more of an army green colour.
"Have you guys seen this marshmallow fondue?" Dean held up a marshmallow he'd stabbed on a stick.
"Show me" Seamus chuckled watching his friend lean over the cauldron filled with warm melted chocolate, he coated the marshmallow in chocolate and held it up.
"Delicious" Dean hummed, Lyra went to answer but felt something tug on her curls, she turned expecting to see someone but no one was there, she couldn't help the small smirk that grew on her face.
"I'm going to keep shopping, enjoy boys" she grinned at the three boys in front of her, she held her bag of Pepper Imps out one last time and both Seamus and Neville took a helping but Dean shook his head too engrossed in his marshmallows. They all said bye as she left, she made it round the side of the shop before she was pulled under a cloak "Harry!" she grinned hugging her friend.
"It was the twins" he grinned back showing her the map of Marauders "Is this?"
"Yes Harry, they were brilliant weren't they?" her smile softened as he took in the map knowing who Prongs was thanks to her stories.
"Brilliant" the boy whispered as the pair shared a soft look.
"Ron and Hermione are at the Shrieking Shack, should we go find them?" Harry nodded and together they walked to the 'haunted' building.
"Boys i think it's time for us to teach Weasel bee how to respect his superiors" they both looked at each other hearing Draco's voice as they came closer to the Shack.
Hermione laughed harshly "Hope you don't mean yourself"
"How dare you talk to me you...You filthy..."
Lyra bent down and was quick to throw a hastily made snow ball at Draco's head, the five people further down all turned to look at where it came from but saw nothing "Who was that?" Draco looked spooked and with a large grin Harry lent down and made more snowballs before he started firing them quickly at the three slytherins below.
Grabbing her hand he was quick to move down the hill where he pulled Theo Notts hat over his eyes and then Crabbe's pants followed, when the boy bent over to pull his trousers up Harry shoved the boy making him fall face first into the snow.
Lyra bit her lip to cover her laughter and grabbed Harry, moving to the Nott boy she grabbed his scarf and they started to spin with the boy. In his rush to get away Draco tripped over Crabbe's feet and Harry nudged her so she let Nott go who fell onto the snow. Harry grabbed Draco's feet and started dragging the boy towards the Shack which was awkward with the pair of them being under the cloak, after a few seconds Lyra tapped Harry to let Draco go and the blonde ran off with Crabbe and Nott.
They moved closer to Hermione and Ron, Harry tugged on one of Hermione's curls and Ron's hat tassels "Harry!" Hermione laughed and the Potter boy pulled the cloak from himself and Lyra. "Lyra!" Hermione snickered hugging her friend who she hadn't realised was under the cloak as well.
 "Bloody hell you two, that was not funny" Ron whimpered as the other three laughed, Harry explained to them how the twins found him leaving and had giving him a map.
"Those Weasels! Never told me about any Marauders map" Ron sulked after hearing about what his brothers had done.
"Harry's not going to keep it, he's going to hand it in to Professor McGonagall, aren't you?" Hermione turned to face Harry who shrugged.
"No, we will be needing it soon actually" Lyra spoke softly tuning into her Luna Lovegood impression.
"For what?" Hermione studied her best friend who frowned after a few seconds.
"I'm not too sure..."
Hermione turned and smirked "Oh look who it is, Madam Rosmerta, Ron fancies her"
"No i do not!" the ginger boy flushed even more red then his already was from the cold weather, the group saw the Minister and overheard him mention Lyra's father saying he was seen in Hogsmeade.
Lyra turned but Harry was already gone, he had hidden under his cloak and snuck after the adults who had been whispering about him, the three of them went after him but it was too late "No underage students in here today!" a shrunken head yelled at the when they opened the door "Shut the damn door"
"So rude" Hermione frowned at the hanging heads.
"Thick heads" Ron muttered but the heads had heard him and weren't very happy but it's not like they could chase after them "Do you know what's going on?" they both faced Lyra who nodded.
"Just the same ol' story about my father, Harry already knows the story as well as the real story"
After some time the door opened and they saw footsteps in the snow once again, Hermione nodded towards them and they followed Harry to a quiet area so he could uncloak, the boy ripped the cloak off and glared at the snow beneath him.
"None of them have a damn clue! They were talking about Sirius being the reason my parents were killed, they have no clue that he is innocent when the evidence is there waiting to be seen, it wouldn't even be hard, it's not like it would be hard at all! They don't care, they probably know but they just don't care!" Harry yelled making Lyra throw a quick silencing charm up "Pettigrew killed them and he lives free while Sirius is hiding being hunted by dementors, Lyra we have to do something!"
"And we will, i swear it by the end of the school year we will have sorted most of this out, we'll find him Harry" she smiled softly at the boy.
"Good because when we do, i'm gonna kill him" Harry snarled with tears in his eyes.
~~~

Harry had asked her to join him in meeting Remus and she had agreed readily not having a chance to speak to the man privately because she had been busy sorting things out for her father to get back, that and the man seemed to be avoiding her himself.

"Harry" the Professor paused seeing her following the Potter boy "Lyra" he softened from where he stood.

"I hope you don't mind Professor but Harry invited me today?" she beamed up at the man who simple nodded.

"Of course not but are you two sure you wish to learn this because it is very advanced magic well beyond the ordinary witch or wizard?"

"We're sure" Harry nodded grabbing her hand giving it a tight squeeze which did not go unnoticed by Remus who frowned gently and look away.

"Alright, well everything has been prepared...Now the spell i was going to teach you Harry is the Patronus Charm did you ever hear of it?"

"No" Harry answered while Lyra remained silent.

"No? Well a Patronus is a positive force for the wizard who conjures it. It works like a shield with the dementor feeding it rather then whoever conjures it, but in order for it to work you need to think of a memory. Not just any memory, a very happy memory, a very powerful memory can you both do this?" he studied the two teenagers noticing the tiny frown Lyra held before she smoothed her brows out so quickly he thought he might have made it up.

"Alright, close your eyes, both of you, concentrate. Explore your past...Do you have a memory?" Harry nodded immediately it was Lyra who paused before nodding "Allow it to fill you up, lose yourself within it, then speak the incantation Expecto Patronum"

"Expecto Patronum" the two spoke the spell.

"Very good, now Lyra if you take a step back Harry you can go first" Remus nodded seeing the girl take a few steps back allowing the boggart to get a better read on Harry "Alright, wand at the ready"

Harry pulled his wand out and Remus unlocked the truck in front of him, it opened and a dementor rose from it "Expecto Patronum!" Harry spoke but nothing happened "Expecto...Expecto.." Harry's form swayed and began to fall backwards, Lyra was quick to step forward catching Harry before he hit the ground.

He was unconscious when Remus got it back in the trunk and had joined them "He'll be fine he just needs to come too" he smiled at her.

"I know, i saw it" she spoke softly smiling at him.

"Saw it?" he frowned but the girl just hummed and patted Harry's arm bring the boy back too "Here we go, come on sit up, deep breaths. It's alright i didn't expect you to get it first time that would have been remarkable, here eat this you'll feel better" Remus pulled out a chocolate bar and broke a bit off for Harry, she smiled when she realised it was one of the bars she'd added to his basket.

"As a matter of interest what were you thinking? Which memory did you choose?" Remus stood relighting the candles that had been blown out by the dementor/boggart.

Lyra helped Harry stand up "The first time i rode a broom"

"That's not good enough, not nearly good enough" Remus turned to face them with a raised brow.

"There is another, it's not exactly happy...Well it is, it was the happiest i've ever felt but it's complicated" Harry added as he played with the candle flame like a complete freak.

"Is it strong?" Harry nodded facing Remus once more "Then we will try again, do you feel ready?"

"Let do it" Harry moved for the trunk again and Remus opened it, the dementor came flying out "Expecto Patronum" nothing "Expecto Patronum!" Harry yelled and after a delayed second a bright white light sprung from his wand hitting the dementor.

Lyra laughed as she watched Harry push the thing back into the trunk "Yes!" Remus cheered as he slammed the trunk closed "Well done Harry, well done!"

"I think i've had enough for today" Harry panted taking another piece of chocolate Remus handed him.

"Yes, sit down, just so you know Harry i'd think you'd give your father a run for his money" Remus joked as Harry took a sit on the steps "And that is saying something"

"I was thinking about him and mum, seeing their faces" Harry smiled when Lyra sat next to him resting her head on his shoulder for support "They were talking to me, just talking, that's the memory i choose...I don't even know if it's real but it's the best i have"

"It will always be enough Harry" she smiled up and him and he nodded taking a bite of the chocolate in his hand.

"Lyra, do you feel ready? Now i know you can not use the boggart like Harry but we can still try the spell" Remus took the two in feeling his heart contract and his chest felt heavy at the sight.

"I don't know if my memory will work" she frowned as she stood "But i'll try"

"Just give it a try if not you try again with a new memory" Remus smiled and followed her to the open area.

Lyra closed her eyes thinking of being with the trio in the train compartment, being involved in the jokes, laughter, being their friend. She took a deep breath "Expecto Patronum" she opened her eyes but there was nothing, she felt her magic rolling inside her trying to answer to her command but it wasn't enough.

She glared at the wall and thought, if Harry's memory had the possibility of being fabricated then maybe it didn't have to be real, maybe the memory just had to make you feel happy. Maybe someone else's happiness could be enough if it made you happy as well.

"Lyra?" someone calling her name continuously caught her attention and she looked to her right seeing that Harry had joined her side "Are you alright?"

"Just thinking...I'd like to try again" she looked at Remus who nodded signalling Harry to step back which he did, Lyra closed her eyes drawing memories that weren't actually hers. She thought of Harry finding out he had Sirius, Hermione meeting McGonagall and finding out she was magic, Ron getting the keeper position, Remus getting Sirius back knowing he wasn't alone.

But it was when she thought of Kreacher receiving his first Christmas present from her, how happy he'd been to have something of Regulus' that wasn't tainted with black magic. How he tried everything to be the best personal elf for her that he could be, here was an old elf who'd probably never even looked twice at a witches hair learning how to braid and untangle curls for her, for Regulus.

Her heart swelled and she beamed opening her eyes "Expecto Patronum!" her magic coiled and sprung from her wand, a very bright white light erupted and started to create her panther shape but she cut the spell off before it could finish.

"Well done Lyra! That was beautiful, it was starting to form a corporeal patronus!" Remus grinned widely at her.

"What does that mean?" Harry chuckled from where he now sat.

"There are two possible forms when one casts the Patronus charm, the incorporeal form which was what you did Harry it's a shapeless wave of mist like i said before it's like a shield but the corporeal form is like a spirit guardian it is a stronger version of the charm. It takes on the form of the animal that the caster had the greatest affinity for but no two Patronuses are the same."

"I was only able to because i didn't have a dementor hovering over me" Lyra chuckled waving it off "And it didn't even fully form"

"No i wasn't able to make out what it was but it was an amazing feat Lyra well done, the both of you! What was your memory out of curiosity?"

"Oh...Well i started thinking of other people and things that made them happy, i thought my happiness over their happiness would be enough"

"And did it work?"

"It did, i thought of my elf"

Remus frowned "Your elf?"

"Yes, Kreacher" she chuckled when Remus' eyes widened as if he couldn't believe her grumpy old elf could give her a happy memory that was strong enough to create a corporeal Patronus.

"Well that is interesting but i am afraid you both need to be getting to dinner now" he smiled as he dismissed them, watching them walk off arm in arm laughing and grinning between themselves.

Who knew they'd find each other in school, he certainly didn't, he didn't even think she would dare to be sorted into Gryffindor but here she was, Lyra was so much like her father and she didn't even realise it, Remus just hoped it wouldn't end the same way it did last time.
