By the time Elena stepped out of the car outside the penthouse building, her head already throbbed painfully from irritation.
She just wanted silence and nothing else.
Elena pushed open the penthouse door tiredly before stepping inside, slipping off her heels absently near the entrance.
The living room lights were dim and quiet inside. At first, she barely looked up while setting her purse aside.
Then suddenly… she froze.
Her entire body went still because right there in the middle of the living room… Alaric sat on the couch and there was a woman sitting on his lap.
His hand rested firmly against her waist while the woman leaned into him completely, kissing him deeply without hesitation.
For a moment, Elena genuinely thought her mind had stopped processing properly. The sight felt so unexpected that she simply stood there staring blankly at them.
The woman tangled her fingers lightly into Alaric's hair while he kissed her back with cold deliberate calmness.
