The guards around them tensed up, ready to attack.
"Wait! Saving Peg has to be the first priority right now!" Euphoria said, keeping her voice calm.
The leader hesitated, caught off guard for a second before he hid his surprise. He stared at Euphoria, waiting for her to explain.
"We had nothing to do with this poisoning, and we have no reason to hurt Peg. Besides, looking at how bad she is, her condition is clearly critical. We are the only ones who can save her," Euphoria stated.
The man's murderous mood eased slightly, though he still looked dark and serious, his face like a mask of stone.
"And how do you plan to cure her?" he asked.
Euphoria stepped forward. "We have a medicine crystal hidden back on the coast. If we can get that crystal, we can neutralize the poison in Peg's system."
The man thought about her words. Knowing they had just traveled through the Void Forest, he knew it was possible they really did have such a rare stone.
