Chapter 116
The massive brown bear, blinded by rage, swung a heavy paw at Euphoria. She dodged the strike and drove her bone blade deep into its side. The beast froze and collapsed, its life ending instantly. Euphoria cleaned her blade on the bear's fur, hid it in her clothes, and looked around. The area was empty, and she realized this was her chance to escape.
She started running, sticking to the tall grass to stay hidden. When she saw a squad of ghost beast warriors ahead, she dropped to the ground and stayed perfectly still until they passed. She was making good progress when the sound of flapping wings filled the air behind her.
Panic flared, but she quickly dove into the weeds and went limp, pretending to be unconscious. Moments later, the eagle-beast warriors landed. One checked her breathing, then hoisted her onto his back. Euphoria stayed completely still, knowing she couldn't win a fight in the heart of their fortress.
