Chapter 96
Euphoria believed that Hayes simply wanted to stay by her side forever. It was a sentiment she could understand, which made her hesitant to jump to conclusions.
Consequently, she chose to keep faith in Hayes.
Yet that very night, the harsh reality was laid bare before her, leaving her with no choice but to believe Luce's warnings.
The evening after her secret meeting with Luce, Hayes went out to hunt. Unwilling to abandon him without a second thought, Euphoria refrained from sending Luce the signal to escape.
However, Hayes was taking unusually long to return.
Unable to endure the agonizing wait inside the cave any longer, she stepped outside. Almost immediately, a roaring echo pierced the air from not far away.
She instantly recognized it as Wayne's voice. Panic seizing her, she urgently called out to the lion cub and sprinted toward the sound.
She ran with such desperate speed that she left the little cub far behind.
