Chapter 1 - Chapter One: Game Plan

It was a dusky day in mid-October. My best friend,

Auron, and I were sitting at our desks in school while our teacher, Miss Ackle,

lectured us on geometry and other subjects. However, we weren't paying

attention. After class, as we walked home, something extraordinary happened: a

giant hole opened in the sky, and a man dressed in a black robe emerged.

Suddenly, the sky turned dark. He announced, "My name is Zoltor, and I

have come to bring about the end of this planet." At that moment, a massive

dragon appeared, its scales black and orange. Alarmed, Auron and I ran to his

house. When we arrived, we saw Auron's parents, but suddenly, a blast struck

the house, and in an instant, his home and family were gone. The world fell

into chaos, and in the confusion, Auron and I sprinted away. As we ran, I

caught a glimpse of my dad for the first time in twelve years, but before I

could reach him, he vanished.

Everything felt surreal and terrifying, but we

couldn't give up. We hurried to the nearest grocery store to grab some

supplies. Inside, we spotted Zoltor conversing with five masked figures. Their

names were Apostles, Copon, Zindin, and Zordin. Zoltar was one of five demonic

spirits—the harbinger of doom. Auron and I overheard them discussing the Orb of

Balance, which they believed would give them the power to rule the universe.

Just then, Auron accidentally knocked something over, catching Zoltor's attention.

He lifted us both into the air and demanded to know why we were there. Auron,

in a burst of defiance, spat in Zoltor's face, provoking him to throw Auron

aside.

In retaliation, I kicked Zoltor in the face, and we

both ran for our lives as he pursued us. Miraculously, my eyes turned red, and

when Zoltor looked at me, I found myself lifting a car with no hands and

throwing it at him. He crashed to the ground, and then I blacked out. When I

regained consciousness, I was in my old house. There, I saw a girl from school

named Ana, someone I had had a crush on since fifth grade. She asked if I was

okay, and I replied, "Yeah." Her blonde hair was tied up in a

ponytail with pink highlights, and her hazel eyes were filled with concern. She

helped me to my feet, and just then, Auron rushed over, hugged me tightly, and

asked, "What just happened?" I responded, "I don't even

know." I felt a surge of energy within me.

Although it made no sense—because none of my family

had ever possessed any powers—I knew that I had them. However, that wasn't our

primary concern. We needed to retrieve the Orb of Balance from Zoltor before he

could destroy the universe. Auron asked me what we should do, and I remembered

that there was a bookshelf in the basement that might hold answers. We headed

down to the basement, where I found a book titled "Family Secrets."

Opening the book, I was shocked to see a picture of my dad using his power of

air to control the weather alongside an image of Zoltor. I thought to myself,

why is he in my family book?

Turning around, I was startled to see my deceased

mother standing in front of me. She told me that to stop Zoltor, I would need

the Orb of Balance, which was hidden deep in the jungles of Peru. Returning to

reality, I informed Ana and Auron about the Orb's location. Auron expressed

concern, saying we couldn't go to Peru because the planes were grounded, and if

Zoltor spotted us, we would be doomed. I reassured him that Zoltor would miss

us. We hopped into the car and drove to the airport, utterly unaware that

Zoltor had a spy watching us. Upon arriving at the airport, I saw my mom one

last time. She warned me to be careful because there was a spy within our

group. She explained that the Orb of Balance was a relic from millions of years

ago and that Zoltor had been trying to obtain it for years, ever since my dad

humiliated him at the Grand Council. I asked her what had happened, and she

recounted that my dad made a comment that ruined Zoltor, ultimately leading to

her death. Zoltor had attempted to blast my dad but ended up hitting me

instead, which resulted in the Council banishing Zoltor to the underworld

forever. If Zoltor were to obtain the Orb of Balance, he could destroy

everything and take over the universe. However, it wasn't the only thing he

needed. I asked my mom what else he required, and she revealed that he needed

my soul energy. Confused, I questioned why he needed that. She explained that

this was how I had to start, as I was trying to understand my powers. Before I

could ask her why his picture was in the photo book, she disappeared. Then I

passed out and woke up halfway to Peru. Looking out the window, I saw the

orange and black dragon return, and just like that, the plane crashed. I

remembered there was a traitor among us and asked Ana and Auron who it was, but

nobody answered. Then, they both vanished. Zoltar appeared and said, "You

want to know why I'm in the picture book, right?" I asked him how he knew

about it, and he replied, "Because I am your uncle." Then he disappeared

again. I saw Auron and Ana looking terrified, just like the orange and black

dragon. At that moment, I charged up with the color red and created a sword

from thin air. I cut off all three heads of the dragon, and then I passed out.

When I woke up again, we were in Peru. I asked, "Where is everyone?"

The markets were deserted, and all the houses were in shambles, but we pressed

on and walked into the jungle. There, we met a boy named Carlos; he was the

only one who survived the attack by the Leviathan on his village. He turned to

the jungle. Auron, Ana, and I asked him if he needed help, and he said,

"Yeah." I then asked if he could guide us to the center of the

jungle. He wondered why, and I said, "Because I am trying to stop this

madness." He replied, "Follow me," and we ventured deeper into

the jungle. I asked him why he didn't leave Peru. He said, "Because I

hoped that someone would fix my village." Suddenly, I saw my mother again

and asked her why she hadn't told me that Zoltor was my uncle. She replied,

"Because if you knew, he would find out where you were." I inquired

how he got into the picture book, and she explained that the book was created

before the Grand Council meeting.

Then, I returned to

the real world and continued to wonder about the identity of the traitor. We

finally made it to the middle of the jungle, and Carlos asked why I needed to

come here. At that moment, I powered up, punched a hole straight through the ground,

and jumped down. We found ourselves in an ancient temple. As we explored the

old temple, I saw my mom going through ancient scrolls. I called out,

"Mom," and she turned around, exclaiming, "Surprise!"
