Chapter 4 - CHAPTER 4

An Overwhelming PresenceThe moment Tamayo saw him

Her body froze.

Not from hesitation.

Not from doubt.

But from instinct.

A crushing, suffocating presence pressed down upon her very being, far beyond that of any ordinary demon.

Her blood reacted.

Not in obedience

But in fear.

Standing before her was not merely one of the Twelve Kizuki.

He was the highest among them.

Kokushibo.

Even compared to Muzan Kibutsuji, the pressure he exuded felt… different.

Sharper.

More refined.

"Lady Tamayo !"

Yushiro stepped forward instantly, placing himself between them without hesitation.

His Blood Demon Art activated

But it never had the chance to manifest fully.

A single movement.

Too fast to perceive.

A faint arc shimmered in the air.

And then

Silence.

Yushiro's arms fell.

Severed cleanly before pain could even register.

His body staggered, yet he did not retreat.

Even now, he remained standing before Tamayo.

"…Run…"

His voice trembled, but his resolve did not.

"Please… go…"

A Futile ResistanceKokushibo lowered his blade slowly.

No flourish.

No wasted motion.

To him, the exchange had not even qualified as combat.

Tamayo's mind raced.

She knew.

There was no victory here.

No escape through strength.

But she still acted.

Her fingernail pierced her skin.

Blood welled.

A faint, sweet scent spread into the air.

Her Blood Demon Art

A subtle yet powerful technique capable of disrupting perception.

"Blood Demon Art…"

Her voice was barely audible.

"…Visual Dream Fragrance."

The scent reached Kokushibo.

For an instant

Nothing changed.

His six eyes remained steady.

Unmoved.

Unaffected.

Tamayo's heart sank.

She understood immediately.

The difference in power was absolute.

The Gap Between ThemKokushibo stepped forward.

In the next moment

Yushiro was lifted effortlessly by the throat.

His body struggled instinctively, but it was meaningless.

The strength disparity was insurmountable.

Kokushibo observed him in silence.

"…Loyal."

A simple evaluation.

Nothing more.

His gaze shifted to Tamayo.

"You may flee."

His tone was calm.

Indifferent.

"I will not pursue you."

The words should have offered hope.

But they did not.

Tamayo did not move.

She could not.

Behind her calm exterior, her thoughts were in turmoil.

Why?

Why was Upper Rank One here?

This was no coincidence.

Muzan had found her.

After all these years

It was over.

Her shoulders trembled slightly.

Then

She lowered herself to her knees.

"…I will not run."

Her voice was quiet.

Resigned.

"Please… spare him."

A Demon's ChoiceFor a brief moment, silence lingered.

Then

Kokushibo released Yushiro.

His body collapsed to the ground, struggling to regenerate.

Slowly.

Painfully.

A consequence of his refusal to consume human flesh.

Kokushibo's gaze returned to Tamayo.

"…You misunderstand."

He spoke without hostility.

Without mockery.

"I have no intention of delivering you to Muzan."

Those words

More shocking than any attack.

Tamayo's eyes widened slightly.

Yushiro froze.

The tension shifted.

Not gone

But altered.

Kokushibo turned away slightly.

"Stand."

A command.

Not harsh.

But absolute.

Tamayo hesitated

Then obeyed.

A Controlled ThreatYushiro attempted to move again, his instincts refusing to yield.

In that instant

Another motion.

His legs were severed before he could take a step.

"Do not repeat that mistake."

Kokushibo's voice remained even.

No anger.

No impatience.

Only certainty.

Yushiro clenched his teeth.

But this time

He did not move.

He understood.

Resistance was meaningless.

The Path Forward"Take me to your residence."

Kokushibo's words were direct.

Tamayo studied him carefully.

There was no deception in his tone.

No immediate hostility.

But neither was there trust.

Only… intent.

"…Very well."

There was no alternative.

Supporting Yushiro, she led the way.

A Different Kind of TensionTheir residence was hidden well.

A place removed from human awareness.

As they entered

Kokushibo stepped inside without hesitation.

Then, unexpectedly

He sat.

Not with elegance.

Not with ceremony.

But with a quiet stillness that contrasted sharply with the tension he had brought with him.

The room fell silent.

Tamayo and Yushiro remained standing at first, uncertain.

Waiting.

Watching.

"…Sit."

The instruction came calmly.

After a brief pause, they complied.

Neither spoke.

Neither moved unnecessarily.

They waited.

A Question That Should Not ExistKokushibo rested one hand lightly against his knee.

His six eyes settled upon Tamayo.

For a moment

There was nothing but silence.

Then

He spoke.

"Tamayo."

He addressed her by name without hesitation.

"You have severed Muzan's control."

It was not a question.

It was a statement.

Yet

It carried weight.

A truth that should not be known.

Tamayo's expression changed.

For the first time

Not fear.

But shock.

"…How do you know that?"

Her voice was steady.

But her eyes were searching.

Careful.

Suspicious.

Kokushibo did not answer immediately.

Instead

His gaze deepened.

"Because that is why I am here."
