Chapter 15 - The wedding

The wedding of Juliet and James began where the sea met the sky—quiet, endless, and unsettlingly calm. The waves whispered against the shore as if carrying secrets no one else could hear.

James' mother stood beside them, her gaze distant, smiling. Amanda held Juliet's hand tightly, her fingers cold despite the warm sun. Even the pastor's voice, steady and composed, seemed to echo with an unusual weight.

"Marriage," the pastor said, looking between them, "is not just love… it is survival. It is trust… even when truth begins to crack."

Juliet forced a smile, but something about those words lingered.

Then they moved to the yacht.

At first glance, it was perfect—draped in white silk, glittering decorations catching the sunlight, laughter spilling across the deck. Music filled the air, guests danced, glasses clinked. Everything looked like a dream.

But Juliet couldn't shake the feeling that she was being watched.

Every time she turned, she caught a shadow slipping away. She wished her parents were there to celebrate her big day with her.

"Are you okay?" James asked, brushing her arm.

Juliet nodded. "Yes… just nervous."

The vows began.

"James, repeat after me," the pastor said.

"I hereby take Juliet as my beloved wife."

James spoke clearly, confidently and happily.

Guests fell silent.

"Juliet, repeat after me."

"I hereby take James as my beloved—"

She stopped.

For a split second, she saw it.

A reflection in the polished surface of the ring tray.

The ring was made of diamond.

Juliet smiled.

"Juliet?" the pastor prompted.

I hereby take James as my beloved husband.

The ceremony continued.

"James, place the ring on her finger."

He was full of excitement as he slid the ring onto Juliet's finger.

And that's when it happened.

A scream pierced through the celebration.

Everyone turned.

Amanda stood.

I'm sorry guys, I'm just happy.

The pastor's voice shook as he tried to regain control.

"Ladies and gentlemen… James and Juliet are now husband and wife.

Everyone screamed out of excitement.

The party ground was full.

Everyone began dancing.
