Chapter 178 - Chapter 177: Overt Scheme

The night was as dark as ink; the neon lights could not penetrate this dark alley.

Rapid footsteps echoed through the narrow alleyway as three figures stumbled into the depths, leaning against the cold, mottled walls and gasping for air.

Lucas leaned against the wall, his thick chest heaving violently; his 1.9-meter-tall, burly frame seemed to have been drained of all strength at this moment.

On his right arm, the ferocious scorpion tattoo appeared particularly striking, soaked in sweat.

Beside him, Shiki supported his knees with his hands, sweat dripping down his cheeks onto the ground.

The flames of anger burned in his eyes. After his breathing gradually steadied, that rage not only failed to extinguish but instead became even more intense.

"Bang!"

He punched the wall hard, and the hard brick surface instantly cracked, leaving a deep fist mark.

"They killed Li Gang and Zhao Hui!" Shiki's voice was hoarse and low, yet it carried an uncontrollable tremor.

"They crushed their heads with their bare hands!"

He turned his head abruptly, looking at his captain, his eyes almost spitting fire.

"Brother Zhang! This matter cannot just end like this!"

Lucas did not answer immediately.

He just leaned against the wall quietly, eyes closed, his chest heaving.

On that resolute face, no expression could be seen.

But Shiki knew that the captain's silence was more terrifying than any roar.

Beside them, the Man with Glasses pushed up the glasses on the bridge of his nose, the lenses reflecting the faint light from afar.

Leon was the person with the highest authority in the entire team, aside from Captain Lucas.

Ever since they formed a team after the Anaconda dungeon, they had supported each other all the way to this day, and every critical decision was analyzed and judged by him.

"Calm down, Shiki."

Leon spoke, his voice steady, carrying a rational calmness.

But the eyes hidden behind the lenses were also flickering with suppressed pain.

"I know our brothers are dead and you're upset. But this dungeon really had an accident."

He paused and took a deep breath.

"With our strength, we are simply no match for them. This matter must be considered carefully."

Shiki clenched and unclenched his fists; he certainly knew that what Leon said made sense.

He had seen the strength of those people with his own eyes.

That dragon-transformed person easily crushed Li Gang's head, just like crushing an egg.

Those two twins never made a move from beginning to end, but the aura they exuded was equally suffocating.

And they—

Captain Lucas and Leon possessed A-Level Talent, while he and the others possessed B-Level Talent.

Such a configuration was enough to walk sideways in ordinary dungeons.

But in the face of those people, they didn't even have the qualifications to resist.

Shiki took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down.

"On our own, it's indeed impossible to take revenge."

Leon continued, his voice so calm it was almost cold.

"Therefore, we must unite, rendezvous with another team of Reincarnators, and then deal with them together."

He looked at Lucas.

"Or..."

Lucas opened his eyes, a cold light flashing in his deep pupils.

"There are eleven people participating this time; besides us, there is also one Hunter."

His voice was low and hoarse.

"If we can convince that Hunter to take action, we might be able to deal with them."

As his voice trailed off, the alley fell into a brief silence.

Ask the Hunter to take action?

A glimmer of hope ignited in Shiki's eyes, but it quickly dimmed again.

The strength of those people was at least comparable to an S-Class Hunter.

And that dragon-transformed person was even more unfathomable.

If the Hunter in this dungeon wasn't strong enough...

Leon pushed up his glasses and took over the conversation.

"I know what you are worried about. Since the Main God Game knows there are invaders, it's impossible for it to send a weak Hunter."

He paused and continued.

"Therefore, the Hunter sent by the Main God will only be stronger than them."

"So, we still have a chance."

Listening to Leon's analysis, the despair in Shiki's heart was gradually replaced by hope.

But Leon's next sentence cast a shadow over the hope he had just ignited.

"If I guessed correctly—"

Leon's gaze fell on Shiki.

"You should have been fitted with a tracker."

Shiki was stunned.

"What?"

"And Shiki was deliberately let go by them."

Leon continued, his voice so calm it was almost cruel.

"Otherwise, with just the two of us, it would have been impossible to rescue you."

Shiki's face instantly turned pale.

He subconsciously reached for his clothes, but couldn't find anything.

"Long before the operation, I had calculated these people's plans."

Leon pushed up his glasses.

"They would definitely release one person, secretly follow, and then round everyone up."

"And, this is an overt scheme."

"An overt scheme."

Shiki chewed on these two words, the color draining from his face bit by bit.

Because regardless of whether they guessed it or not, they had to rendezvous with that group of Reincarnators.

That was their last means of survival.

And the strength of those people meant they didn't care at all about being discovered.

They had absolute confidence in themselves to round up all the rebels.

"This tracker shouldn't be ordinary."

Leon continued.

"Because until now, I haven't discovered it."

He looked at Lucas.

"That's why this is an overt scheme. They aren't afraid of us knowing, because..."

He paused, his voice tinged with bitterness.

"We simply have no means to resolve it."

The alley fell into silence once again.

Shiki leaned against the wall, the anger in his eyes already replaced by complex emotions.

Anger, despair, and a hint of deep helplessness.

Lucas remained silent for a long time before finally speaking.

"Then let them follow."

His voice was low, yet carried an unquestionable determination.

"We will continue doing what we should. Find the other team and find a way to contact that Hunter."

He raised his head, looking at the sky outside the alley, dyed colorful by the neon lights.

"If they want to round us all up, then let them come."

"But the premise is—"

"Whether their net is strong enough."
