"Two packs?" I looked at Callum. "That's all?"
"That's all that's actually said, yes." He tapped the list. "Hallows. Ridgeback. Everyone else is keeping their heads down."
I snorted. "Fucking figures."
"They're waiting."
"For what?"
"To see who starts winning."
I barked out a laugh that wasn't funny. "So they can crawl out after and pretend they backed us all along."
"Pretty much."
"Bunch of spineless bastards."
Callum shrugged. "Maybe. But they're still packs with fighters. If we make it through this, we'll probably need them."
I rubbed a hand over my face. "Yeah. Doesn't mean I have to like it." I leaned over the table again.
Ten years. Ten fucking years building relationships, settling disputes, helping neighboring packs whenever they needed it.
Now the second Warwick started making noise and the Night Court dragged our land into question, everybody suddenly forgot what I'd done for them.
Fine, I'd remember this moment.
