Chapter 1 - Where are we?

It was a warm summer day. Today, is the day some of the students at Lock, yes, THE Lock are competing in the Inter-Academy tournament. And as you readers know, during the Battle Royale, Ren supposedly dies during the explosion from the mana gate because he and Kevin were trying to stop the Monoliths plans together. And as you also know Ren survives by using the watch he got from a certain traitor professor to teleport right into the Monoliths headquarters.

Here, Ren and his companions are teleported, or some might say kidnapped to a reaction room right when Ren was about to die from the explosion, thus kind of saving him beforehand but also not really.

Monica shook her head as she said "I can't do anything about this. It's too late."

"I guess even you can't do anything about it."

Donna knit her eyebrows tightly, frustrated because of the circumstances.

"We need to quickly evacuate everyone Monica. We only have 5 minutes at most before this magic device explodes. Evacuate as many students as you can and isolate the area."

The energy inside the device was running rampant like when a certain protagonist does when his reader dies. The core was cracked meaning that there was a fat amount of energy building up inside the device which will eventually cause it to explode like Donna said.

Both Monica and Donna knew that even they wouldn't be able to survive an explosion like this unharmed, so it was most likely around ranked.

"Kevin run as fast as you can to the area outside of the barrier!"

Facing Kevin, Donna yelled.

"Okay."

Monica disappeared without a trace to save students in need. On the other side, Donna and Kevin have also run off.

"Didn't I tell you to shut down the broadcast already! Turn it off!"

The broadcasting manager was worried. Who would want to watch children with so much potential die right in front of their eyes?

Inside of a large room filled to the brim with screens and other devices everyone in the room was frantically moving around trying to follow orders.

"W-we can't sir!"

A random guy stuttered loudly.

"What do you mean we can't?! We have direct orders from the higher ups to specifically do so!"

"It's not that sir! The controls aren't functioning at all!"

The broadcasting manager looked at the young employ's screen and frowned, all he could see was:

[ERROR] [ERROR] [ERROR] [ERROR] [ERROR] [ERROR] [ERROR] [ERROR] [ERROR] [ERROR] [ERROR] [ERROR]

"AHHHHHGH."

The effects of Monarchs Indifference wore off due to mana depletion, so Ren had to bear with the pain in his chest until he leaned back against a nearby boulder only to take out a recovery and mana potion to down them.

Gritting his teeth, he moved forward. He was not going to die like this, no way. The pain was unbearable, with each step while he ran it felt like he was about to die.

While using Drifting Steps, he quickly tried to get out of the barrier before the explosion happened.

Further away from the exit was Aaron. He was coughing and out of breath due to Ren's thrashing on to him.

"Coff...coff...khh"

He leaned against a tree to stabilize himself then suddenly shouts like a mad man recalling how badly Ren had beaten him.

"Bastard! How dare you!"

The humiliation he had felt was even worse than his defeat. Then sirens went off.

WIIIII! WIIIIII!

Aaron needed to get out of here quickly, or else he wouldn't even be able to enact his revenge on Ren.

"...hm?"

He suddenly spots something in the distance... it was Ren.

Seeing the familiar person that he hated so much there caused rage to fill his blood. Ren was closer to the exit than he was!

And although Aaron may be dumb, he used his puny brain cells to think up of a devious plan and smirked villainously.

"Don't blame me, I'm just trying to survive. You get what I mean?"

That was the last thing he said in that spot as he switched places with a certain someone in the distance.

"I'm literally almost there."

Ren said as he increased his pace. The distance wasn't far but wasn't close either considering his health right now.

Using every bit of mana, he pushed forward towards the exit. Next to him were multiple students also out of breath making it towards the exit and successfully escaping the barrier.

...

Suddenly, his view changed.

Instead of making it out of the barrier Ren was instead looking at the barrier about a kilometer away. Looking again he saw Aaron, who used his Dual Link skill on him to switch places.

Ren felt a wave of different emotions come over him, but it was too late. Contemplating his decisions so far, he asked himself.

"Just where did it go wrong?"

Not knowing if the cameras were still working, he turned to the camera to say his last final words.

"If the cameras are still working, I'm sorry everyone..."

A bitter smile appeared on Ren's face, and it exploded.

BOOOOOM!

Having felt like he woke up from a terrible dream, Kevin was greeted to a comfy room full of couches, cushions and tables full of snacks.

"Where the hell is this place?"

Looking around he saw many other familiar people in the same area. Stopping to look at something in the middle of the air, he looks at the floating blue screen.

"...What?"

...

-HELLO EVERYBODY! -

The sound was so loud even the S-rankers covered their ears due to the noise.

-WELCOME TO THE REACTION ROOM WHERE YOU WILL BE REACTING TO STUFF FROM THE FUTURE!!!-

Melissa glared at the speakers seemingly saying

"Hey, that's great and all but why don't you fucking quiet it down."

-Oh, sorry about that. Just got a little excited.-

Starting to relax a bit, Melissa quietly sat down on one of couches.

'Wait, how is Melissa so calm about this?' Kevin thought.

Ren spoke up,

"Now this is weird, I thought I was about to die right there."

Kevin slowly turned around only to see Ren laying perfectly fine on the floor.

"I wish you died." said Melissa seriously.

Pointing his index finger at Ren, Kevin stuttered

"I-I literally just saw you explode though..."

"Well I guess I didn't because of this... Hey, who are you anyway?"

-Hello! I am your host you can just call me PD, short for PlottingDreams.-
