The next morning arrived with a brutal, grey clarity. I woke to the sound of movement in the room. Kaeren was already dressed, looking every inch the dominant Alpha prince in a sharp, charcoal-black suit that emphasized the breadth of his shoulders and the lethal grace of his frame.
He looked devastatingly handsome and utterly untouchable. Ugh… I hated to admit it.
"Good morning, Waverly," he said in a voice commanding and surprisingly vibrant for such an early hour. He was at the mirror, adjusting his cuffs.
"Why… why didn't you wake me?" I asked, rubbing the sleep from my eyes, feeling incredibly awkward as I sat up in the middle of the massive, rumpled bed.
"I didn't want to disturb you," he replied, not looking back. "You needed the rest."
I noticed Miri was already inside the room, standing quietly by the wardrobe. "Good morning, Miss Waverly," she said with a respectful nod.
