Chapter 37 - _ Face of a Murderer

"Did Julian come here to watch this footage earlier?" I asked the technician, my voice dangerously quiet.

"Yes, Sire. About two hours after the bodies were discovered. He spent a long time reviewing the garage feeds."

I narrowed my eyes. If Julian was the killer, or even an accomplice, why would he leave footage that placed him at the scene of the crime? He was also the head of internal security—amongst many things; he could have wiped those ten seconds in a heartbeat. 

Julian was a cunning bastard—he didn't make mistakes. If he left himself on that tape, it was because he wanted it to be seen, or because he was using his presence to mask something even more sinister.

"When did Julian return that night?" I asked.

The technician pulled up a log. "His vehicle was scanned back into the gates at 12:45 AM, Sire."

I felt a jolt of recognition. 12:45 AM. That was less than ten minutes after Austin and I had smuggled Waverly through the servant's entrance.
