Spinoff Chapter 5

The temple was silent at night. Upon entering, Rayton gazed at the empty altar. This was where, once upon a time, the statue of Harraice I had stood. But that spot was now vacant as if it had always been so.
Rayton observed the altar silently and then slowly began to walk. He was heading toward the temple’s western tower, to the most secluded room.
“…”
Rayton stared at the firmly closed door for a moment then turned the doorknob. The door opened without any resistance and he entered the room quietly. It was empty inside. Seraphina’s remains had been buried on that hill, just as Sez had wished. As such, the owner of this room had finally left, but the worn altar remained as it was.
Rayton approached the altar and placed something on it - Seraphina’s broken dagger.
“…I thought about burying it with your remains, but it didn’t feel right for some reason,” Rayton murmured to himself. “It felt like erasing the only evidence you ever existed.”
