The arch mage’s limbless torso and head were placed at the gate of the temple. All of the priests were forced to look at it upon the orders of the Emperor.
Some wept and some fainted, and one of them was dragged away by soldiers for condemning the Emperor’s cruelty. Nobody would ever see that priest again, which discouraged the others from standing against him.
That wasn’t the last of the suffering that the temple had to go through. Following the incident, Philip appeared with the soldiers and demanded the blueprints of the temple.
He also ‘politely’ asked the oldest priest to guide them around every corner of the building, saying that too was the Emperor’s will.
They scoured every nook and cranny, including the basement, but it seemed like there were no results.
The old priest asked them what on earth they were looking for, but they didn’t answer.
